Chapter 381: Enlightenment of Destruction

Arthur’s descent to the ground was accompanied by his faux true voice calling out the name of his technique.

One he had created in battle against three Epic Realm Celestials, back when he was but a mere Grandmaster.

The ground convulsed beneath him and then enormous waves of purple energy surged outward in all directions, covering hundreds of metres of distance in each second.

The Divine Human Soldiers on the ground all tried to defend, but it was pointless. The destruction law energy washed over their pitiful attempts at defence and ground them down to nothingness, before going on to do the same to their bodies.

Efforts at defence crumbled before the onslaught of power as the surge dismantled barriers and with merciless efficiency, obliterated flesh and soul.

It was even more effective on them as they possessed Divine Factors!

Master and Grandmaster realm existences succumbed and perished within seconds.

Epics were more resilient, and they did everything to survive, but the inferior-staged ones could only delay the inevitable.

The waves of energy tore through them, rending their bodies asunder.

Some were able to hold on with their magic energies, but the debris caused by the destroyed buildings collapsed on them and made them break their concentration, allowing the seismic surge to destroy their barriers of divinity and subsequently, their bodies.

The onslaught expanded beyond the realm of living beings, wreaking havoc on the Inner City’s infrastructure.

Buildings shattered like fragile glass, towers crumbled and the very ground was carved out.

The entire Duskhand Bastille, both Inner and Outer sections, trembled as if struck by an earthquake.

The waves of energy that Arthur released surged as high as three-story duplexes, drowning the buildings and all those within them in the deluge of destructive power.

Although the Sovereigns attempted to protect the research facilities, they were not fast enough as these were the first things hit with the full brunt of the Seismic Surge’s power.

They used divinity and magic to try to protect the buildings, but it was futile against the power of Arthur’s seismic surge that contained anti-divinity.

The Research Facilities where the Aramisians experimented on people were destroyed, along with all the Racial Factors that they had harnessed over the years.

As the buildings were razed to the ground and the dark experiments within were erased, the brain-dead subjects of experimentation whose bodies were abused for the extraction of race factors, found release in complete death.

But somehow, the targets who were marked for infusion of these racial factors were violently torn apart by the destructive energy.

This had absolutely nothing to do with Arthur, and it was as the universal laws of life and death who chose which souls to protect from his destruction energy and which ones not to.

It was an autonomous decision for the laws, for the sake of preserving the untainted souls which would then be passed on to the law of reincarnation.

Souls that had already lost their divine factors and had been damaged, were repaired by the law of death, before following others into reincarnation.

It was all in a day’s work for these Universal laws.

Back to things being Violently torn apart, were those who sought refuge in the skies. Attempts to ascend which were not fast enough were met with a very cruel fate.

Some jumped but as all things that went up must come down, they fell into the churning waves of purple energy that surged beneath them, meeting a swift demise.

The Legendary realm existences were better off due to being able to protect themselves with universal law energies, but they were not immune.

Those who could fly and those who were already airborne at the time of the attack were lucky not to be affected, but there was nothing they could do to help but stay there and wait out the attack.

Even the Sovereign realm existences were wounded by this—the anti-divinity in the attack, coupled with the fact that it was one unleashed by the Progenitor of godslayers was a very deadly combination for them.

◇ ◇ ◇

In the middle of all this destruction, was Arthur’s figure, a maniacal grin on his face as he turned his body round and round while taking in the sight around him.

"Yes!"

He could feel his soul mutating, expanding, and growing stronger.

"This...is it!!"

He burst into laughter as he spread out his arms and let his energies surge outwards, adding even more power to the waves of destruction spreading out from all around him.

"Witnessing a Massive Application of the law in question...it doesn’t matter even if I am the cause of it!!"

As an Epic, Arthur could barely hold one of them, but his current Legendary Realm soul was robust enough to hold multiple.

"Is this what the cultivators call enlightenment?!"

Arthur’s disgust for Duskhand and Ger’s experiments was long forgotten, and all the boy felt now was Joy.

"This...is what it ’Means’ to ’Destroy’!"

Pure Unadulterated Joy.

The contacts he usually wore to cover up his eye colour turned to nothing, revealing his two irises which were currently glowing crimson red.

"No, No, No...you are under ’MY’ control."

He calmed the destruction energy within his body that attempted to rampage outward, Asserting Dominance over it.

Arthur was not going to let his power control him, he was the one who was going to be in control.

The light in his left eye glitched, and slowly, its original blue colour flowed back in, as if someone poured thick blue paint into a body of clear water.

Closing his eyes, Arthur took a deep breath and raised his hands up into the air.

Like an Orchestra Conductor, Arthur calmed the waves of destruction energy violently surging around him.

The aftermath of the Seismic Surge left the Inner City of Duskhand in ruins—if there were even enough left over to be considered ’ruins’.

The Illustrious Bastille was reduced to nothing in a matter of minutes.

The very ground around where Arthur stood with his sword had been gouged out, leaving a gaping hole in the earth that was over a dozen kilometres wide, with a depth that was a sixth of that.

Outside of this new ’Valley’ Arthur had created, lay the fragmented ruins of buildings lying scattered over the eroded earth.

Incomplete corpses of master and grandmaster realm soldiers were strewn across the desolation, their lives extinguished without mercy.

These ones were the luckier group, as there were a lot more that didn’t even leave corpses behind, and had completely returned to ’nothing’.

None who were within the epicentre of the devastation had survived, from the Epics to the weaker Inferior Legendries who had attacked Arthur in close range.

Those who were a bit of a distance away were luckier not to be hit with the initial surge and survived with severe injuries all over their bodies.

Healing factors and regenerative powers refused to work, owing to the destructive energies and godslayer attribute within the attack.

The destruction, if left unchecked, would have undoubtedly spread to the Outer City. However, the irony lay in the protective barrier around the Inner City—an unintended saviour.

This magical shield inadvertently aided Arthur in containing the devastating effects of his seismic surge, preventing the calamity from engulfing the entire Duskhand.

Of course, this was well within his calculations, as he had zero intentions of touching the Outer City in the first place.

An eerie silence settled over the obliterated landscape, the Inner City of Duskhand existed no more, erased from the annals of existence in a brief but brutal display of the Progenitor godslayer’s power.

This silence was broken by a Faux true voice; one which escaped the lips of the being responsible for this devastation.
