Chapter 382: Taking up the Summoner ‘Role’
|¬Pseudo Authority of Destruction: ¬|
The energy of the universal law of destruction in the atmosphere thrummed greatly and submitted to the authority in Arthur’s voice.
|¬Eradication Torrent. ¬|
A storm of radiant ethereal projectiles imbued with the inviolable power of the law that governed destruction within the universe was conjured in the sky above.
Each projectile was primed to trigger an explosion that disintegrated everything it touched on a molecular level.
Those caught in its path had virtually no chance of survival.
Its targets were the weakened Intermediate and Superior Epic Realms who were barely hanging on to life.
With that move, Arthur removed all Epic Realm existences below Level 700 from the stage.
However, as if to mock his actions, the barrier around the Inner City was opened up and thousands more surged into the area.
The ones who were in the Outer City all moved in, along with some reinforcements they had called in from the satellite towns around Duskhand.
He even sensed some newly appearing Legendary Realm presences, and his lips twisted in displeasure.
’Hmm...with my current energy levels, it’d be hard to deal with all of this; Seismic Surge consumed a lot of power, after all.
Especially as the Sovereigns are still alive. What’s more, those guys are genuine gods...they would not be easy opponents even if they are injured.’
In that case, Arthur decided to pull out the card he had been preparing over the past week, the reason he had not slept for days.
The energy of the law of summoning surged from his body, blanketing the surroundings and causing the eyes of the newly appearing soldiers to go wide.
They were shocked at the amount of energy Arthur still had left over, after releasing such a powerful attack earlier.
"Allow me to take up the role you lot have given me.
Forgive me if it’s not to your expectations, I have not used it much, after all."
His words did not make sense to them, but when they saw the energy of the law of summoning, something clicked in the minds of all the Legendries present.
"A demon with silver hair...and summoning powers...!
He’s the one from the Embermaw reports!!!"
One Legendary screamed out as he staggered to his feet, blood dripping down the side of his face.
"Bravo! You figured out who I am!"
Arthur’s relaxed demeanour unnerved the surviving Divine Humans and the reinforcements who just came in.
For him to still act that way even after being surrounded by thousands of Epic Realms, Legendries and even three Sovereign Realm existences, meant that he still had something up his sleeves.
|¬My offering is all of the dead bodies lying here.
Come forth and be of use to me. ¬|
His words echoed through the area, and the law energy enveloped the lifeless bodies scattered across the devastated landscape, triggering a transformation.
Hundreds of summoning magic circles manifested on the ground, weaving a tapestry of arcane power.
From these circles emerged a legion of Epic Realm monsters, an assembly of giant two-headed Hellhounds accompanied by lesser dragons.
"Okay, I get the Hellhounds but why the Dragons?"
Arthur couldn’t help but question aloud, surprised at the nature of the creatures he had summoned. As far as he knew he had no link that could possibly allow him to—
"Oh...the system categorizes the Dragon Breath Rune as a skill...and since the summoning circles called forth Hellhounds due to my connection with ’Hell’, it must have influenced them to call lesser dragons due to the Rune..."
As he figured out the reason for the dragons’ presence, the summoning circles nearer to Arthur, marked by their grandeur, gave birth to colossal three-headed Hellhounds, each one exuding the oppressive aura of a Legendary Realm existence.
The Hellhounds, with two additional heads breathing fire, ice, and poison, towered over the battlefield, their ferocity matched only by their deep wells of power.
As the creatures emerged, the ground beneath them trembled, and their eyes glowed with an otherworldly light.
’I used a ’Three Stage Summon’, it’s a relatively ’Hard’ technique, especially for someone with low summoning law comprehensions, but it’s not something impossible for me, right now.’
Arthur was taking advantage of his current state of ’Enlightenment’ due to his newly acquired Pseudo-Authority.
It was just like how he was able to enact his Bounded Filed and use ’Chronoslash’ right after he gained his Pseudo-Authority of time, something he should have had a much harder time doing with his current time law comprehension level.
Right now, Arthur was operating at more than 100% of his maximum potential.
The ’Three Stage Summon’ allowed him to Summon; (1) a Legion of creatures below him in power, (2) a small squad on his level.
In front of Arthur, stage (3) of the summoning was still in process, materializing a monumental summoning circle that spanned over a dozen metres in diameter.
Though the being on the other side had yet to reveal itself, the palpable aura emanating from the circle sent shivers down the spines of all the Divine Humans present.
The Sovereigns and Legendries, recognizing the imminent threat, moved swiftly to disrupt the summoning ritual.
Divine powers were unleashed and attacks were launched both at Arthur and the summoning circles. However, the summoned beasts, animated by Arthur’s command, roared with a ferocity that matched their attackers.
The battlefield erupted into chaos as the summoned creatures clashed with the Divine Humans.
The beasts, all at least Superior Epics in strength, displayed ruthless prowess, tearing through the ranks of the Duskhand soldiers with relentless force. The three-headed Hellhounds, roared and leapt towards the Legendries present, adding a new layer of complexity to the ongoing battle.
In the midst of this pandemonium, the Third Stage of the Summoning was completed.
From the giant magic circle in front of Arthur...emerged a single man.
He appeared to be a fairly good-looking middle-aged human, with unkempt looking dirt-brown hair and beards, adorned in partial armour covering his crucial points like his chest and joints.
The man looked at the battlefield around him with sharp eyes, slowly resting his hand on the sword hanging from his waist.
"Would you look at that?"
Hearing Arthur’s voice, he turned around and faced the boy in front of him who was gazing at him with an amused glint in his eyes.
"Time is a funny thing, don’t you think?
Because of the time difference, you’re actually older than me...despite being my progeny."
Arthur’s words were ones that confirmed the identity of this Inferior Stage Sovereign standing in front of him.
If the lesser dragons could be summoned despite Arthur’s faint, almost non-existent connection to dragons, then it was perfectly understandable for this to happen.
The Third Stage of the Summoning had called forth a godslayer.
