Chapter 344: Literal Convo Bomb

"You also know that you can’t run even if you wanted to, right?"

"..."

Though Arthur remained silent, the boy had begun silently infusing cosmic energy into the Cosmic Teleporter on his hand, ready to use the remaining energy left in the first charge to escape if need be.

’If this guy gets even the least bit hostile, I’d activate it and jump into the portal instantly.’

Arthur was confident he was fast enough to do so before the other party could react. His power over time would play a huge part in this though.

However, he had not done so yet for one simple reason.

The man lacked hostility towards him. Arthur could see the look in the demon’s eyes and recognized it as one he had whenever he found something rare and wanted to keep it for himself.

’He can use this Appraisal skill, and he still sees me as a devil. Does this mean he can’t see everything on my status?

He may not be able to see things like my titles or Unique Skills. I’d like that to be the case till I can understand how to use the law of concealment to block his Appraisal.’

"I tried asking nicely, but you know I can just force you to sign it either way, right?"

The Demon spoke as he pulled out another contract from what appeared to be a subspace, holding it up in front of him.

But just before he could continue speaking, both he and Arthur sensed something enter their perception ranges and turned their heads to the same side of the building, a moment before a mass of magic power collided with the roof of the building that they were in.

In that instant, both Arthur and the Uniformed Demon could tell—a bomb had just been dropped on them.

The time left till detonation: one second.

The sheer amount of energy was great enough that even the Uniformed Demon felt he would not come out unscathed if he tanked that directly with his body.

It wasn’t enough to kill him though.

Heck, with how strong he was, Arthur was sure that even if he was hit head-on, he’d still be able to deal with the people who dropped the bomb, with relative ease.

But leaving that aside, since it had been established that tanking the explosion was not an option, the next line of action was to protect himself with energy.

A thick layer of pure magic power surrounded his body, forming something like a second skin above his clothes, before spreading out to envelop the building itself.

**KAAABOOOMMM!!!!!

The magic bomb detonated with a brilliant, blinding explosion. A searing light, infused with holy magic power, surged uncontrollably in all directions, tearing through the building’s top floors.

As the explosion consumed everything around them, the man threw a glance at Arthur and was shocked to see the boy standing perfectly fine in the midst of this explosion, without a single lick of energy protecting him.

’An artifact? Even if so, there should at least be energy fluctuations...maybe I can’t tell because of the magic power from the explosion filling the area.’

Of course, our resident progenitor was covering himself with cosmic energy, and since the Demon could not perceive it, he could only form conjectures about why the boy was fine in the explosion.

While he was thinking this, the very structure of the building shuddered and groaned as it began to crumble under the overwhelming force of the magical explosion. The walls cracked and shattered, while the ceiling collapsed in a cascade of debris.

However, this only applied to the second floor they were on, as everything below their feet which was covered in the Demon’s magic power was protected from the blast.

The Demons outside the building were not spared from the devastation. The holy light and ensuing flames engulfed them, instantly incinerating the lower-ranked demons Grandmaster realm and below individuals.

Even the Epic Realm Lower ranks who survived were wounded greatly, bearing the painful scalding wounds of the holy light, their skin resembling that of someone who had endured boiling water being poured over them.

Just when Arthur thought the explosion was going to die down, a second one of greater intensity rang out.

"Did those fools not finish the task I gave them?!"

For the first time, Arthur saw the uniformed man lose his cool for a moment, a deep frown covering his face as subsequent explosions rang out all around.

When the boy tried to use cosmic energy with a mix of spatial law power to sense what was causing these extra explosions, he nearly doubled over in shock.

Everything around the building they were in was being obliterated in explosions that sent shockwaves rippling across the landscape.

The city’s infrastructure, military equipment and all signs of civilization were mercilessly eradicated.

Arthur had to reinforce his cosmic energy barrier multiple times to prevent himself from taking damage as he further surveyed the situation.

The city they were in was a military city, and the uniformed demon beside Arthur had given some lesser demons orders to move certain items to a secure location.

Items like the one that crashed onto the building earlier.

Magic Bombs.

However, said demons slacked off and did not finish moving the bombs in time, so when the first one exploded, its flames engulfed one of the bombs that was still outside.

The first magic bomb’s explosion triggered a horrifying chain reaction, igniting other stored magic bombs within the military city.

These subsequent detonations further fuelled the relentless inferno, laying waste to everything within a radius of roughly 25 kilometres.

Merely looking at this scene of destruction made Arthur feel as if he might gain some comprehension in the law of destruction.

But like all things had an end, so did these mass explosions.

It was not a natural end though, but one forced by the Uniformed Demon who spread out his spatial law energy to cover the city and prevent any further explosions.

Still, the losses incurred were already too great.

One of the Largest Military Cities under his control, boasting of a 100 square kilometre area, had been half destroyed within mere minutes.

And the demons whose negligence caused this were probably dead, so the man did not even have anyone to vent his annoyance on.

At least, he had protected the rest of the Magic Bombs stored in the basement of the building they were on in time.

He heaved a sigh, and looked around, noticing that the Epic realm lower demons and the Legendary realm mid-ranked demons had survived the explosions, but with great injuries.

Certainly not in the state to handle what was to come next efficiently.

’I guess I’d have to step up. And...’

The uniformed demon turned towards Arthur who was waving his hand to blow away the smoke surrounding him.

’Without a scratch, huh? Whatever means he used, it’s impressive. If used on an opponent who uses their full power, and he comes out unscathed like that, it can be very demoralizing, especially if they are in the presence of many.

It can cause them to be distracted, their guard would drop temporarily due to the shock, and it can create an open-Ah! Now’s not the time to be thinking about things like this.’

The man cut his thoughts that were already formulating means to use Arthur’s Cosmic energy barrier, even if he didn’t know exactly what it was.

"First, let’s deal with these pigeons."

He spoke as he turned his red eyes towards the sky, at the figures of the winged beings clad in battle armour and wielding weapons who swooped down from above—the ones who dropped the first magic bomb on them.

"Flugels? I happen to be acquaintances with one of you. Seeing y’all reminds me of her. Wonder how she’s doing now?"

Arthur spoke while remembering the person who helped him discover his progenitor status with a nostalgic look on his face, but these particular Flugels didn’t have any intentions of letting him bask in the nostalgia.

[WE’VE TAKEN OUT THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER’S POST!!! ELIMINATE THE REST OF THEM!!]

One of them barked out such an order with a voice amplified with magic power, and what followed were the battle cries of soldiers who rushed to fulfil his orders with almost fanatic intensity.

Flugels swooped down with their weapons and attacked the demons, elves launched magic from afar and human soldiers rushed in on foot while attacking the demons with swords bathed in holy light.

’That’s right, he wanted me to fight in a war...’
