Chapter 318: Radgyn V
Radgyn threw out a high kick towards Nicole and sent her flying through an array of broken trees, following up with a dozen pressurized water blades but the teenage devil only flipped and landed on the ground, before snapping her fingers and dominating the attacks.
The water blades reversed trajectories and returned to their sender, only to be cut down in an instant by Radgyn’s spear.
Immediately after, they shot forward once more and clashed again, causing another massive explosion of dust billowed up towards the skies.
Knocked back by the explosion, Radgyn roused her magic power and raised her hand high, casting a powerful water spell with the intention to give herself time and distance to use a Tier 4 spell.
"Cascade!"
Torrents of water surged forth, gaining momentum as they cascade towards Nicole, but contrary to Radgyn’s expectation, the girl did not dominate the spell and instead opted for a different means to defend herself.
She invoked an Earth magic spell, causing an earthen wall to rise up from the ground, its form solid and unyielding.
The wall stood tall as a barrier against the water, blocking the relentless force of the cascading wave that crashed against it and meeting them with resistance.
The Malevolent goddess’s expression contorted visibly upon seeing Nicole use a third Element of magic, something that the teenage devil didn’t miss as she flew up into the air and stared at Radgyn in silence.
"...Could it be...that you can’t use other elements?"
Nicole’s question made the goddess’s brow twitch repeatedly, an indirect ’yes’ to Nicole’s question.
The devil girl had noticed that despite there being occasions where using water was unfavourable, Radgyn still used the element to block and every time Nicole used something other than water the goddess always frowned deeply.
So, she asked that question because of a suggestion from Undine, but she never expected it to be spot on.
Indeed, Radgyn was born unable to manipulate any other element besides water, even as a Legendary, her control over elemental laws was very horrible and unsuitable to be used in combat.
She believed this was kind of like a price she paid in exchange for her powerful Water Manipulation abilities, but seeing Nicole who had a higher level of control over the element and could easily use other elements too, she felt jealousy and rage towards the teenage devil.
"I see..."
Nicole only muttered lightly upon seeing the goddess’s reaction, not caring for the fact that the latter was conjuring tier 4 magic as she rose her hand in the air and roused her magic power.
[...Nicole, you’re not going to do that, right?]
The girl remained silent upon hearing Undine’s words and the Great Spirit realised that Nicole planned on doing exactly what she thought.
She didn’t need to do that but she still held a slight grudge for when her wing got injured earlier, so she decided to fuck with the Malevolent goddess.
Five magic circles appeared behind her, a conjuration of three of her strongest elemental attunements.
The one in the centre was a tier three ice spell while the ones on the left and right were tier 2 earth and wind spells respectively.
’Maybe I should improve my lightning magic when we’re done in this world.’
Nicole had that thought to herself as she stared at the goddess who was giving her a death glare. She couldn’t be blamed though, as Nicole had used other elements of magic right after discovering she was unable to do the same.
"Are you mocking me?!"
In response to the goddess’s question, Nicole tilted her head to the side and asked with a slightly confused tone.
"Isn’t that obvious?"
If Nicole intended to both piss off and mock the goddess at the same time, then her reply just now over succeeded in doing that.
Radgyn roared with rage as she charged forward, a tier 4 magic circle materializing around her palm and coalescing the ambient moisture around her, causing it to swirl and twist before condensing and shaping itself into an intricately designed double-headed spear construct.
’Water Magic: Spear of Torrents!’
She gripped the watery weapon with all her strength, delivering a mighty swing that unleashed a devastating slash that cleaved through the air with unparalleled speed.
As the slash’s path intersected with the earthen wall Nicole was standing on, an explosion of power engulfed the surroundings.
The force of the slash reverberated through the air, unleashing a devastating shockwave that shattered all the nearby trees.
The wave of destruction extended far beyond the immediate clash, stretching for miles in front of Radgyn. With each passing second, the relentless force wiped out everything in its path, leaving behind only remnants of what once stood.
Radgyn was sure that Nicole along with whatever spells she had tried to cast had been swept up by the devastating slash.
And that was precisely why she never expected to hear a voice suddenly ring out from behind her.
"Are you done?"
"??!!!"
She turned around and saw Nicole lightly floating in the air with her wings outstretched and her hands folded in front of her chest.
The five spells still floated above her head, sustained through her wings which she used as a catalyst.
"HOW?!"
"Who said I could only use three other elements of magic?"
Without giving Radgyn the time to comprehend the true meaning of her reply, Nicole launched the five spells she had prepared.
The goddess quickly reacted, unleashing another mighty slash with the double-edged spear, although one of lesser intensity.
Even so, the sheer power of the spell was still so great that it threatened to engulf Nicole in a watery onslaught.
Nevertheless, she remained undeterred.
The two wind magic circles glowed and wind projectiles took form, swirling into existence and converging into a spiralling vortex of cutting air.
The projectiles raced towards the onslaught of water, slicing through the liquid mass with razor-sharp precision.
Following right behind were the two earth spells, generating solid, crystalline orb of pulsating earthen elemental power and a solid boulder of seismic force that hurtled through the air, colliding with the rushing water and causing splashes and ripples all around.
Radgyn sent out another slash of lower intensity, and this prompted Nicole to launch the Tier 3 Spell.
A surge of frigid energy enveloped the surroundings as a massive ice shard, several times larger than a human hurtled through the air at incredible speed.
Its sheer size and momentum made it an unstoppable force that exploded with the devastating water slash upon contact, releasing an intense wave of icy energy in all directions.
The frigid blast froze the surrounding area instantaneously, encasing everything within a thick layer of ice, plummeting the surrounding temperature and turning the immediate vicinity into a frozen wasteland.
An icy mist enveloped the surroundings, clearing up a few seconds later to reveal a shocking sight.
In the aftermath, a thick layer of ice now encased the area where the goddess had stood moments before.
Radgyn now lay immobilized, encased in a frozen prison, her powers of water manipulation subdued by the icy grip of Nicole’s Glacial Shatter spell.
However, this didn’t last long as cracks began to form in the thick layer of ice, spreading like spider webs all around.
With a huge burst of divinity, Radgyn thrust her arms forward, shattering the remaining ice in a spectacular display that sent shards of frozen fragments exploding in all directions.
The sheer force of her liberation sent a shockwave rippling through the frozen landscape, causing the ground to tremble and fissures to form.
Radiating an aura of fury, the goddess emerged from the frozen remnants, glaring at Nicole who was keeping her distance due to the former’s divinity that was being flared wildly.
"You-!"
"Stoneshatter. Gale-force Bolt."
Nicole cut off whatever she was about to say with two spells of earth and wind elements respectively.
One moulded the earth into a solid crystalline orb that shot forward, exploding into a barrage of razor-sharp shards of stone, each one possessing incredible speed and piercing capability.
The other conjured a tempest spell in Nicole’s palm, forming a cyclone imbued with a swirling wind elemental vortex.
Arcs of crackling lightning danced and intertwined within the cyclone, charging the projectile with electrifying force.
With a deft flick of her wrist, she hurled it towards Radgyn who hurriedly roused her divinity to defend.
Upon impact with Radgyn’s shields, the cyclone exploded into a powerful burst of wind and lightning, unleashing a storm tempest that engulfed the area.
**BOOMM!!
A thunderous sound rang out with the explosion’s eruptions, and a billowing cloud of dust and dirt rose up into the skies.
’Wait a sec. Isn’t this dust a bit too much?’
Radgyn suddenly noted that the amount of dust in the area exceeded her expectations, and what’s more, she could not sense Nicole’s presence anymore.
The devil girl had used magic to generate more dust to obscure the goddess’s vision and the dust had magic properties that also dulled her senses.
