Chapter 306: The Last One’s Resistance

"Huh?"

"You’re so surprised are you not? You probably never expected that your greatest ’protection’ who had been foiling all our plans over the years could be so easily outsmarted, huh?"

He was right about one thing; Arthur was indeed surprised.

However, the reasons for Arthur’s surprise were far from what the man had assumed.

’What the fuck is this guy saying? Mum’s right out there watching this. I can feel her presence through our bloodline resonance. Meaning it’s her real body that’s here, not her avatars or clones.

Uncle Creusery’s also here and I’m guessing Lucifer is too.

They’re all probably even hearing all the bullshit he’s saying.’

With Arthur’s thought speed that far exceeded normal Epic realms, especially inside his Bounded Field, it only took him a second to think all that but the man carried on with his words, none the wiser.

"Your life so far has probably been very sheltered, and your movements have only been limited to your home planet and your academy.

I’m sure you only reached your current level of power because of all the resources poured into you and your destiny as the Child of Destruction."

Arthur’s brow twitched in annoyance upon hearing the man’s words. A burst of energy erupted from his body, infused with the essence of the law of destruction but the man remained composed as the energy slammed into his body without so much as scratching him.

Since he was watching the man’s every expression, Arthur noticed the small very barely perceptible smile that appeared at the corner of his lips.

"Is this some convoluted plan to get me to exhaust my energies attacking you in rage, or are you simply just retarded?"

His brow twitched upon hearing Arthur’s words, but before he could say anything, Arthur continued

"I’m starting to doubt if that thing in your skull probably is working properly.

I mean, if it was, you should have been more than capable of leading 30 grown adult men and women to deal with a single child who’s barely what? 16?"

A smug grin appeared on Arthur’s face as he chuckled lightly, rolling his eyes as he spoke.

"You all showed up full of confidence and all. In the end, you were led around the nose by me and ended up sacrificing your members to throw out an attack that I could have easily blocked in a thousand and one ways.

Heck, to be honest, you all are just cannon fodder who’ve taken up far too much time."

The man wanted to curse at Arthur but he bit his lips and held himself back, deciding to change his approach while internally wondering just how much energy the boy possessed.

’It’s more than I had as an Inferior Legendary!’

"Don’t think we’d be the last who’d come try to kill you.

You’re just a kid wet behind the ears who doesn’t know how vast the universal seas are. There are tons of other people out there plotting to kill you in secret. Eventually, one of-"

"Shut the fuck up you vacuous mouth breather."

"...Are you trying to insult me with big words now?"

"No, I’m simply describing you."

The man rolled his eyes in response to Arthur’s words, but the boy took advantage of that to throw in another quip.

"Keep rolling your eyes, I’m sure you’d eventually find a brain."

The boy’s words cut deep and the man nearly lost it and attacked Arthur, however, when he saw the boy’s mocking grin, he took a breath to calm himself.

’Remember, you’re still in his Bounded Field.’

"You were saying something about how I don’t know how vast the universal seas are like you know anything.

You’re just a mere Inferior Stage Legendary who probably cannot even fully comprehend how vast your home galaxy is, much less an entire universe.

Not to talk of the multiv-"

"SHUT UP!!"

Arthur was about to shake his head in disappointment as he spoke, only to be cut off by a golden spear of divinity piercing through the air and straight towards his head at sonic speed.

Unfortunately, this was Arthur’s Bounded Field, and all projectiles towards him would be automatically caught in a Chronosphere.

"Just shut the heck up you entitled brat!!

Do you know how many people’s futures you’ve robbed just by your very existence? HUH??!!

I was just an ordinary child, destined to live an ordinary life, but you just had to be born, didn’t you?!"

The man kept hurling bolts of energy towards Arthur who was staring at him dumbstruck, wondering why he was suddenly talking about things Arthur could not care less about.

"If you hadn’t been born, I would not have been taken away at the mere age of five and turned into a pawn just to kill you!

My normal life was stolen away by your very existence!!

Spiralled into a relentless cycle of violence and loss, all my friends dying under that brutish subpar rubbish they called ’training’ when we could have carried on with our lives without a care for whatever machinations those damn gods had." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

The man took small bits of the energy of the crystal he swallowed that was emanating from him, mixed them with his own divinity and condensed them into dozens of spears which he fired towards Arthur; however, they were all automatically caught up in Chronospheres.

’He’s trying to force me to use up my energy, he’s getting impatient.’

Such were Arthur’s thoughts to himself as he stared at the man who was hurling dozens of divinity bolts with the universal law of fortification’s power while screaming.

Sure, it was defensive type law, but it did not mean that the law’s energy could not be used to form attacks, just that they would be far weaker than if you had simply just used normal magic.

Besides, the guy was only using the excess law energy that rolled off his body and mixing it with his own divinity, not directly channelling energy from the crystal itself.

Anyway, the amount of law energy this guy had right now was actually that of a Low-Tier Deity’s Authority. Simply put, you’d need an attack that can kill a low-tier deity in order to deplete it all, and last time Arthur checked, even an entire planetary explosion would not be enough to do that.

’How did he not instantly blow up into smithereens by swallowing that...what kind of preventive measures did he take? I really wanna know. Was his body genetically modified? Or did they do something to his physiology?

It’s a pity I can’t search souls yet.’
