Chapter 272: Rule Breaker Collection
Rule Breakers.
Powerful equipment that very few people in the cosmos knew the origin of.
Each of them was a nonstandard weapon, shield or armour that would make millions of Supremes go to war just to acquire one.
Take the shield that Lucifer used against the multiple Grand Supremes that attacked him in his final battle.
Seven Shields of Consecration.
Seven shields powerful enough to completely block, and then reflect the attacks of powerful Grand Supremes, Seven-fold!
And mind you, this was just the Shield’s basic ability.
To top it off, the Seven Shields of Consecration, was only a three-digit rule breaker.
As such, the collective shock on the faces of the Vaughn family members could be understood, as the room Lucifer’s Vestige just had them open, contained over a hundred rule breakers.
A hundred!
Lucifer had more than a hundred of these weapons that would make Supremes go to war, stashed away.
Seeing this, Cattleya and Creusery began to think that the security systems Lucifer put in place were probably not enough.
"HAHAHAHA!!!!"
Lucifer laughed boisterously as he looked around the room, admiring his armoury of Rule Breakers.
Swords, Spears, Shields, Armours, Gauntlets, and Daggers of different kinds, all arranged on the walls in the room.
"Make a choice. Pick whichever one you like."
Despite being told to pick at their leisure, the quartet was still staring at the scene in front of them in shock as they kept on reinforcing the energy coats around their bodies, just to prevent the aura the weapons were passively emanating from damaging them.
"Why the heck do you have so many?!"
"Um...I was tryna do something with the Rule Breakers and ended up Hoarding a lot in the process."
Lucifer’s Vestige replied before pointing at the empty weapon slots and continuing.
"From those empty slots, you can see I had more, unfortunately, the Eternal of Space ripped open my pocket dimensional realm and took all the ones I had on me when he teleported me here.
When I think about it, it’s pissing me off that he took the Seven Shields. That’s like one of the best defensive Rule Breakers out there."
Diablo who watched the memory earlier, narrowed his eyes and asked after hearing Lucifer’s reply.
"He did all that, in the same instant he teleported you?"
"Yep...That’s the dude who governs ’Space’ for you."
The vestige just shrugged and then counted the rule breakers present, nodding to himself before turning back to them and saying.
"I would have liked to say you should take them all, but that’s a bad Idea since it’d draw the attention of Candidates, Phantasmals, Sages, and even Supremes from across the multiverse.
Most importantly, it’d put this universe on the radar of the Causality Guardians, the Enforcers, the Watchers, and eventually, the Eternals and Aggressors themselves.
So, just pick a few. 10 or 20 maybe. Taking up to 50 and you’d have to fend off rogue Candidates and Phantasmal realm guys.
Any higher and you’re just making yourself an Eternal Target."
He pointed at the four of them and then concluded.
"There are four of you here, so pick five each."
◇ ◇ ◇
While the Creusery, Cattleya and Inglis were scanning through the Rule Breakers to make their choices, Diablo walked up to Lucifer’s Vestige who was looking through a bunch of other things in the room.
"So...what’s the relationship between the Eternals and the surrounding universes?"
"...What?"
"From what you said, the Eternals are beings that have to handle concepts that are the working force of billions of universes.
With the sheer number of things that happen in the Cosmos on a daily basis, I doubt they’d have the time to care about a bunch of Rule Breakers suddenly appearing in one of those universes...unless, they already have their eyes on the area.
Arthur told me about how you changed the Hell universe’s location...so correct me if I’m wrong, but the reason you moved to this particular location was because of the fact that this area is somewhere the Eternals have dealings with, and if your track record is anything to go by, you were hiding the Hell Universe in plain sight."
Diablo’s statement left Lucifer dumbfounded for a few moments, before he suddenly burst into laughter while slapping his hands on Diablo’s back.
"Really, boy...you never cease to amaze me.
How the hell did you arrive at that conclusion?"
"It’s not that hard. I just have to know your thought process."
"...you make my years of planning seem pointless with that one line."
Lucifer sighed and pointed at Cattleya who was chasing Creusery around with a sword glowing ominously and spoke.
"Her baby daddy’s home."
"Olympus?"
The Vestige nodded before continuing.
"Both the Eternals and Aggressors have taken action in Olympus in the past, when it was still named Orthys.
As for the ones who took action, I’m not sure which ones they are."
He then raised an eyebrow and turned his gaze towards the door, a smile appearing on his face as he called out to Cattleya and said.
"Hey, your kid is awake. Let’s go. You can pick your weapon later."
The quartet made their way back to the room where the young progenitor was looking at his arm which was now glowing with dark purple circuit patterns.
Strangely, they seemed to avoid the small black and gold dot that was created by Celestia on the back of his palm.
’It seems like...it’s scared?’
[Hohoho! Piercing the heavens and inducing terror to even Nothingness itself. I am th-]
"Shut up for a bit Celestia."
[Master?!]
"You’ve been watching too much Xianxia recently. I’m cutting off your access to my phones and tabs for a month."
[??!! Master! How could you?!]
Arthur ignored the sword that was screaming at him before turning towards Lucifer and was about to speak, only for Celestia to manifest in front of him and start flailing around wildly.
The boy’s brow twitched as he grabbed the sword’s blade and shifted it to the side before speaking.
"Three months."
The sword then vibrated as if it just received the shock of its life, before slowly floating to the corner of the room and facing the wall.
".... What just happened?"
"Hmm? Nothing serious. Just cut off her supply of movies."
Cattleya alternated her gaze between her son and his weapon, before pressing her fingers to her forehead and asking.
"Is this how you normally interact with your weapon?"
"Yeah. Isn’t this how all Ego-Weapons are?"
"They eventually get that way, but your sword should not have reached the required power level for that kind of strong Ego.
It’s weak, after all."
[Well, forgive me for being weak!!]
Celestia ’screamed’ out loud, bringing shock to the faces of those present, except Lucifer and Diablo. Even Arthur was surprised as he did not expect that Celestia was able to project her voice outwards.
"Since when could you do that?"
[Hmph! I’m not talking to a master who doesn’t let me wat-]
"Six months."
[Ever since you became aware of your sub-cosmic physique!]
The threat of no movies for six months had Celestia instantly answering Arthur’s question.
As for Cattleya and Creusery, they chalked the sword’s highly developed Ego to being a mutation due to Arthur’s cosmic energy manipulation abilities, however, Diablo knew there was something more to it.
The smile on Lucifer’s face as he watched Arthur and the sword interact told Diablo that the vestige definitely knew what was up.
"Alright...time for testing."
