Chapter 256: Vs Urdusin II
’!...Above!’
His senses warned him of the impending danger and he reversed his grip on his blade before redirecting his slash and swinging it towards the sky, just in time to block the semi-transparent sword that came crashing down from above.
’That was definitely a spatial art!’
He identified Arthur’s means the same way Arthur had identified his earlier, taking his guard up a whole new level.
’Since he used this boundary field, I expected him to have some mastery over the spatial arts. Seems I was right.’
The man thought to himself as he exchanged blows with Arthur before the boy pulled back and landed on the ground.
Even so, Urdusin did not give Arthur the chance to even land properly as the moment the boy’s feet touched the ground, the man had already charged forward while activating two simultaneous time arts.
One was to accelerate his movements, and the other was to slow Arthur’s.
Unfortunately, he was using time magic, against the grandson of one of the most powerful candidates of time to ever exist, and someone who was comprehending the law of time.
His magic simply did not work on Arthur and the boy moved at normal speed, dodging the man’s diagonal slash before grabbing hold of Urdusin’s arm and attempting to fling him over.
But the squad leader instantly realised Arthur’s intention, and while he was still surprised that his time arts did not work, he didn’t let it get to him and instead used earthen arts to secure his feet to the ground and prevent Arthur from pulling him up despite the fact that the boy was using more than half his strength.
The ground gave away and cratered under the pressure but Arthur was still unable to pull the peak epic realm squad leader off the ground.
"This isn’t just Earth Magic...you’re using Gravity Magic too?
Oh well, I did say I wanted to test out a new power."
"...?!"
Arthur’s statement was followed by the activation of the ability he had just absorbed from the half-dead gorilla monster.
His arm bulged up slightly and Urdusin instantly swung his aura-coated sword in an attempt to get Arthur to let go but the boy was faster.
With newfound physical strength, Arthur pulled Urdusin off the ground and flung him over his shoulder, surprising the squad leader as his earthen and gravity arts were broken instantly.
Nevertheless, Urdusin whose body was flung through the air, flipped mid-air and used the wall of the boundary field as a springboard to launch himself back towards his opponent.
**SWISHH!!!
The sound of a blade cutting through the air rang out as Arthur evaded Urdusin’s strike with minimal movements, letting the squad leader land back on the ground while raising a small cloud of dust.
The instant the man turned around, Arthur had used World Steps and arrived directly in front of him, delivering a slash with such great speed and power, one that Urdusin could only defend against with a hastily made aura barrier as Arthur was too fast for him to pull up his weapon.
Said aura barrier shattered upon impact, but it was still enough to lessen the blow slightly, as well as reduce its speed, giving him a chance to fortify his body with aura a second before the sword hit him.
**BOOOMM!!!
There was a booming sound along with an omnidirectional shockwave that even knocked down some of Urdusin’s squad members who were flying in the sky.
As for Urdusin himself, he was already sent flying into the wall of the boundary field before the second had elapsed.
"This is too small, let’s make it bigger."
Arthur spoke as he activated the power of the law of space once more, attempting to expand the boundary field but he could only add an extra hundred metres before reaching his limit.
Suddenly, an external force snatched control of the field and expanded its size by two times before returning control to Arthur, something the boy instantly figured out was the doing of the vestige watching from somewhere nearby.
Meanwhile, Urdusin who was being helped to his feet by his deputy squad leader, spat out a mixture of blood and saliva as he stared at Arthur who was suddenly displaying a new level of physical prowess.
’Is that the power he wanted to test?’
He asked himself this question while ignoring the words of his deputy that were suggesting something he knew Arthur would not want at all.
"He specifically stated that you all should not be involved, who knows what he would do if any of you was to interfere."
"But, Leader-!"
"No! Think about it for a moment, do you really think this boy is alone here?
The aura that injured that Monster and split the island is different from the boy’s own aura. That means there’s someone who was and probably is still here with him and has the kind of power to split an island in two with a single strike.
If the two of us go at him at the same time, do you think that person would sit still?"
"..."
The Deputy Squad leader went silent after hearing Urdusin’s words, and he was about to begin pondering on them when he suddenly felt a strong pulling force coming from his back.
Before he could react, his whole body was suddenly thrown towards the wall of the dome-shaped bounded field and he slammed into it with enough force to cause the bounded field’s barrier to crack slightly.
His vision blanked out temporarily and he suffered a concussion to the back of his head before dropping to the ground while breathing heavily.
Looking up, he saw the figure of Arthur holding out an arm in his direction through his hazy vision, instantly understanding that Arthur was the one responsible for what just happened.
[Stay out.]
Arthur imbued magic power into his words as he spoke, turning back to Urdusin a moment later and continuing.
"He probably just hit his head hard, nothing too serious for an Epic-level being.
Let’s get back to our spar."
