Chapter 255: Vs Urdusin I
"Can you be my sparring partner?
Just you...tell your subordinates to keep out of it."
"What?"
"I just recently gained a new ability and I want to test it out along with one other of my old powers, so let’s spar.
I’d tell you what you want to know when we’re done."
Arthur asked the confused man while pointing to the Gorilla who was trying to heal itself but failing woefully due to the residual aura of the vestige left in its body.
The man narrowed his eyes at Arthur’s suggestion, trying to see if the boy had any other intentions but failed to notice anything else.
"Come on, time is running out."
Arthur’s attitude had the man at a temporary loss for words, he did prepare for the possibility of having to fight against someone or something when he led his squad over, but these were definitely not the circumstances he had predicted.
Seeing his hesitation, Arthur finally ’lost’ his patience and stretched out his hand, activating the power of the law of space and deploying a topographic type of magic he had learnt from Lucifer’s Vestige.
"Bounded Field: Broken Expanse."
The essence of the law of space twisted and turned around the surroundings, causing all of the flying soldiers to instantly draw their weapons and rouse their energies.
Some of them charged towards Arthur as they sensed he was the reason for this; however, the young progenitor ignored their attempts and carried on with what he was doing.
He knitted a network of energy and spread it over a base area of about 500 metres, creating a mystic boundary line that separated the inside from the outside.
A giant translucent dome surrounded them on all sides, with the interior becoming a sandy-like desert, unlike the greenery they were in a mere moment ago.
Part of the river was encroached upon by the bounded field and it included a piece of the island that hadn’t completed sinking to the bottom of the river, along with the floating half-dead Legendary realm giant Gorilla, though its arm had been severed by the boundary line of the field.
Arthur casually admired his work while folding his wings and letting gravity bring him to the ground, inadvertently escaping the sword slashes and magic spells of the peak Epic realm existences who attacked him.
The boy then landed on the floor and looked up, raising an eyebrow upon noticing that the squad leader had given out a command to stop the others from pursuing him to the ground before descending himself.
"Now then, I have trapped you all within this field and try as you may, it is impossible for you to escape unless I release my spell.
Is that enough of a reason for you to agree to fight me?"
Silence pervaded the area after Arthur’s words, with the squad leader heaving an exasperated sigh before unsheathing the sword from his waist.
"If you had done this earlier, I would not have resorted to trapping you all in here."
Arthur spoke with a light-hearted tone as he held up his hand and summoned Celestia, before asking for the name of the Squad Leader.
"Urdusin."
"Urdusin? You remind me of a certain emperor I fought in the past called Ursan. Hopefully, you do not turn out the way he did."
The boy took a battle-ready stance before continuing.
"Do well to go all out from the start.
I could kill inferior stage epics when I but an intermediate grandmaster, who knows what I’m capable of as an intermediate epic now?"
The moment Urdusin heard those words, his eyes widened in slight surprise, but upon remembering that Arthur just used the powers of a world law just now, he understood how that could be possible.
’He’s probably a young genius from one of the other continents who came over to train. I’m guessing he has some sort of protector hidden in the shadows watching us.
But to be able to use the power of the laws while not being a Legendary, I have to report this to the Castle.’
Immediately after having such thoughts, Urdusin made the first move of the battle, kicking off the ground and dashing straight towards Arthur at breakneck speed.
The young progenitor also responded, shooting forward with his sword raised high as the two clashed barely a second later.
The sound of the two blades clashing against each other signified the real start of the battle, as Arthur and Urdusin instantly began an exchange of blows that shocked all the spectators apart from the Vestige watching from the shadows.
"i-impossible!"
"How can he keep up with the leader?!!"
Ignoring the shouts of the background ’mobs’, the two continued their battle, with each clash releasing shockwaves that cratered the earth beneath their feet, causing clouds of dust and dirt to rise up into the air.
However, as if their visions were not impeded by this, they kept on slashing at each other, encasing their blades in their red and silver auras as they moved.
Arthur flipped his hold on the sword in his hand and launched a three-pronged aura projectile at point-blank range, forcing Urdusin to twist his body at an odd angle to dodge the prong that went for his head while swinging his sword in a circular arc to block the other two.
Unfortunately, that had given Arthur enough time to pull back his fist and punch forward, delivering seven strikes at lightning speed towards the unbalanced man.
But despite this, Urdusin’s eyes flickered with blue light as he activated a spell on himself and moved with newfound speed, balancing himself and using the flat side of his blade to block all of Arthur’s seven punches.
"Time Magic? What are the odds?!"
Arthur revealed the source of the Squad Leader’s newfound speed as he used one of the many footwork techniques his uncle taught him to push forward while Urdusin backstepped.
The boy appeared right in front of Urdusin’s nose, causing the man’s eyes to slightly widen in surprise, even so, he still brought his blade up fast enough to block Arthur’s aura-laden slash.
In that same instant, he increased the effect of his time magic and managed to parry Arthur’s blade, knocking the young progenitor off balance and spinning his body to give a downward arcing slash towards Arthur’s shoulder.
However, to his and the surprise of all those watching, his sword cut into empty air as Arthur simply vanished from his position.
’!...Above!’
