Chapter 254: Island Split

"You know about Alexia, right? The woman I got my first law crystal from.

Yeah...Roseborn’s her dad."

Arthur gave that short reply before returning to his law comprehension session, leaving behind Diablo and Lucifer who continued discussing the Primogenial realm and how Diablo could use the remaining energy he had to reach it.

Arthur also occasionally went out of the domain to battle monsters and other living beings, both on Cecriri and other nearby planets that Cattleya took him to.

The boy sourced a few powerful defensive artifacts that ran on cosmic energy, essentially making them immune to the effects of known artifact cancellers, along with many other things that he felt that he may need during his journey to other universes.

On a side note, Cattleya still hadn’t agreed to him leaving, even after nearly eight weeks had passed.

Another thing that Arthur was particularly happy about learning, was the first technique of the ’Split Series’ that Lucifer had used on him on his second day in the Domain.

However, his joy was short-lived as he discovered that ’Mountain Split’ was just the first out of the Nine techniques in the series.

"Honestly, all the split techniques below ’Moon Split’ are essentially useless in my eyes."

"I don’t know if you forgot but I’m still an Epic realm, you know?

Even if I burnt all my life force and turned it into energy it’s still not going to be enough to destroy a moon."

"Well...you’re a bit wrong there given that the smallest moons out there are barely 500-kilometre squares."

"Isn’t that like, the size of a fairly large city?"

There are moons that small?"

"Yes, there are."

Lucifer replied to Arthur as he held up his sword and performed the second of the split series, ’Island Split’, using a poor nearby island for target practice.

Arthur said a silent prayer for the poor animals and monsters that resided on that island, including the gigantic Legendary realm Gorilla-looking creature who was floating half-dead on the river.

"Hold up for a bit."

He folded his wings and descended atop the body of the Gorilla, before placing his hand on the slash wound across its chest and activating one of his unique abilities.

"Core Absorption."

The boy remained in that position for a few more seconds before taking his hand off the creature’s chest and sighing in disappointment.

After that disappointed sigh, he lightly jumped into the air and reversed the effect of gravity on his body.

When he had floated back up to Lucifer’s level, he cancelled the gravity manipulation and spread out his wings before speaking.

"A pity...Didn’t get what I wanted."

"Exactly what did you want in the first place?"

"The skill or ability that let it survive your ’Island Split’ that literally cleaved the island in two."

"..."

Lucifer’s vestige only stared at Arthur with confusion, wondering exactly how the boy wished to absorb said ability in the first place.

’He said Core Absorption? Is that his innate skill or something?’

The Vestige didn’t have much time to think as he sensed multiple auras rapidly closing in on their location, turning his gaze in the direction of the incoming auras instantly identifying the owners.

"Have I told you about this planet’s natives before?"

"You most definitely have not."

Arthur replied to his question as he turned towards the incoming armoured men and women. One didn’t need to guess their identities as they were obviously some sort of security force of the neighbouring settlement who sensed the aura from Lucifer’s technique and had come to check out the situation.

"Hoh...I’m sensing a few epic realm auras amongst them." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

A grin appeared on the young progenitor’s face as he prepared to summon Celestia for a fight, something Lucifer only sighed at upon noticing.

When the group arrived within a hundred metres of the two, they stopped and one of them, presumably their leader, came forth towards both of them.

His unhidden aura showed he was a peak Epic realm existence, but despite the fact that he was at a higher stage than Arthur, the wary expression on the man’s face did not disappear as he stared at the young progenitor.

’Hmm?’

It was then that Arthur noticed that for whatever reason, the man seemed to be unable to perceive the existence of Lucifer’s Vestige.

’What law is this?’

Arthur did not have the time to question how the vestige achieved such a feat because the man began speaking to Arthur, in a language that the boy obviously did not recognize.

He silently manipulated the essence of the law of languages, causing the man to back away with his sword raised, but he slowly lowered it once he realised that Arthur had no hostility towards him.

"CaN yoUUndEERstanb ME?"

"HuHH?

Arthur ignored the man’s shocked voice and went on to wrap the essence of the law around the rest of the group that was murmuring something while pointing at the floating Gorilla’s half-dead body.

"Got it."

Thanks to their murmurs, the law essence was able to record the pronunciations of all the letters in the language’s alphabet, and within seconds, the boy had completely grasped the language they were speaking and then turned to the man and spoke.

"You can understand me now, right?"

"...y-yes."

"Good.

Now, can you repeat the first thing you said? I didn’t get you then?"

Long story short, it was exactly as Arthur had predicted; the group were members of the armed forces of a nearby city who had come over to check out what had happened to the Island.

For starters, Arthur and Lucifer were currently thousands of kilometres away from the ruined city where the Vestige’s domain was located.

As for the reason why Lucifer chose there to show Arthur the technique, it was simply because it was the closest actual island to them.

Coming back to the current scenario, the man was busy trying to ask Arthur what happened here and if he had anything to do with it, keeping a respectable distance from the boy as he did not know what kind of powers or abilities he possessed.

And most importantly because of the pair of jet-black devil wings spreading from his back.

However, much to the man’s surprise, Arthur only asked a question totally unrelated to the current scenario.

"Can you be my sparring partner?

Just you...tell your subordinates to keep out of it."

"What?"
