Chapter 4: Qin Haoran

Looking at Xingluo chatting with Qin Haoran, Shen Wuxia almost instinctively spoke out before he could stop himself. "How do you know him?"

Hearing this, Xingluo frowned slightly and turned her eyes toward him with clear dissatisfaction. "Stop snooping at me, this is none of your business."

Shen Wuxia immediately felt offended after hearing that, and his expression became serious without him even realizing it. "You do not know what kind of guy he is."

"I know better than a dead spirit," Xingluo replied without hesitation, but just then, her mother walked over with the food and looked at her strangely.

"What are you doing?" her mother asked while placing the dishes on the table.

Xingluo hurriedly shut her mouth and put on a casual expression before saying, "Nothing, I was just chatting with someone."

Her mother gave her a suspicious look for a moment, but in the end, she did not continue asking. "Now eat up, Xingluo, the food will go cold, and you have to leave for university soon."

Hearing this, Xingluo kept her phone aside and started eating while Shen Wuxia floated behind her silently.

Even then, his mind still remained fixed on one question, and that was how Luo Xingluo had gotten involved with Qin Haoran in the first place.

After finishing breakfast, Xingluo went upstairs again and dried her hair while Shen Wuxia continued thinking about Qin Haoran’s matter. Not long afterward, she came back down, picked up her things, and stepped out of the house.

Snow was still falling outside, covering the streets in a pale white layer, but to players, this level of cold was nothing more than ordinary weather.

Shen Wuxia floated beside her while looking at the surroundings, still not fully used to seeing the city again after dying inside that dungeon.

But the next instant, his expression changed completely as a strong pull suddenly dragged him forward like a broken kite.

Xingluo had started running through the snow-covered street, and his soul was pulled along after her without any control.

For a brief moment, Shen Wuxia truly felt as if he might faint again despite already being dead. "Wait—wait, slow down first!"

Xingluo only stopped after reaching the bus stop, while Shen Wuxia came to a halt beside her with an even paler ethereal face than before.

He was absolutely certain that if he still had a physical body, he would have thrown up on the spot.

Seeing his miserable appearance, Xingluo gave him a mischievous smile and said, "What kind of ghost are you, you cannot even fly properly."

Hearing this, Shen Wuxia pouted slightly before replying with clear dissatisfaction, "I have only been a soul for less than one day, it obviously takes time to learn."

Just then, the bus arrived, and Xingluo boarded it with the other passengers before finding a seat near the window.

Shen Wuxia floated beside her awkwardly, trying his best not to overlap with anyone, but people kept passing through him anyway, which gave him a strange and deeply uncomfortable feeling.

Soon afterward, the bus stopped near a large campus, and Xingluo stepped out while Shen Wuxia was dragged along beside her again.

In front of them stood the magnificent gates of Beichen University, the second-best university in the city after Tianchen University.

Compared to Tianchen, Beichen had a much lighter atmosphere because of its larger student population and less suffocating competition.

Students moved through the snowy campus in groups, laughing and talking with friends while the morning sunlight slowly reflected across the white-covered paths.

Shen Wuxia looked around silently, but just then, a faint sweet fragrance suddenly entered his senses.

Only then did he realize that he was floating almost directly above Xingluo’s head while looking down without noticing it.

Xingluo slowly raised her eyes toward him with a dangerous expression. "What the hell are you doing?"

Hearing this, Shen Wuxia coughed lightly and quickly looked away. "Nothing, I was just looking at the atmosphere around the university."

Xingluo pouted immediately and said, "My shampoo is not Beichen atmosphere, so keep a healthy distance from me and do not float over my head."

Before Shen Wuxia could defend himself, someone suddenly called Xingluo’s name from the side. Both of them turned their gaze at the same time and saw three people walking toward her from another path.

The first one was a short-haired girl wearing a thick brown coat over her Beichen uniform, her bright eyes almost glowing with excitement as she waved toward Xingluo from a distance.

Beside her walked a tall girl with long black hair tied neatly behind her back, her expression calm and composed while she held a stack of books against her chest.

The last one followed slightly behind them with sleepy eyes and silver-gray hair falling over her shoulders, both hands wrapped around a steaming cup as if the drink was the only reason she had not collapsed into the snow.

"Xingluo!" the short-haired girl shouted before rushing forward and grabbing both of her hands. "You finally came.

Luo Xingluo rolled her eyes immediately while pulling her hands back. "Yun Xia, I am late by five minutes, not missing for three days."

The little girl still clicked her tongue while looking at Xingluo carefully, her expression carrying clear suspicion. "You still look like you did not sleep well, were you talking with Young Master Qin all night?"

Hearing this, Xingluo immediately frowned and looked at her as if she had said something completely ridiculous.

"Why would I chat with him all night, Yun Xia? Use your brain, it is just a large-scale party dungeon invitation he gave me."

Yun Xia shook her head afterward like a disappointed teacher before crossing her arms lightly.

"When will you understand, Xingluo? Think about why someone like him would approach someone like you in the first place."

She paused slightly before continuing in a serious tone. "We are only average students with C-rank talents, so the only reason a genius like him would approach you is because he is interested in you."

Hearing this, the tall girl beside them also nodded in agreement. "Indeed, Xingluo, you should take this opportunity properly. After all, you might never find someone better than Young Master Qin Haoran."

She looked at Xingluo with a faintly envious expression before adding, "If you miss this chance, then you are basically kicking away an opportunity most women in this city would kill for."

Listening to their conversation, Shen Wuxia’s expression slowly darkened while he floated silently behind Xingluo. So this is how Qin Haoran approached them.

The more he thought about it, the more suspicious the entire operation became.

Why would someone like Qin Haoran personally invite low-level students into a large-scale instance when smaller elite instances gave far better rewards to geniuses like him?

Just as Shen Wuxia continued thinking about it, the last girl holding a drink suddenly spoke in a softer voice. "I do not know, Xingluo, I personally feel this is a little suspicious."

She looked down at the drink in her hand before continuing with slight hesitation. "That day when he approached us, his tone was weirdly soft and charming, as if he was deliberately trying to make us lower our guard."

Hearing their words, Xingluo finally waved her hand impatiently and cut them off directly. "Shut up, you guys.

I am only participating in a large-scale instance, nothing else, so do not turn this into something that it is not."

Just then, the massive clock tower standing at the center of the university campus suddenly rang out, its deep chime spreading across the snowy grounds. Hearing it, Xingluo’s expression changed immediately as she cursed under her breath.

"Damn, it is almost time. We are going to be late for class again." After saying that, she grabbed her bag properly and hurriedly ran toward the teaching building with her friends following behind her.

Shen Wuxia was dragged along helplessly a moment later, his soul swaying behind her like a kite caught in a storm.
