Chapter 3: Small Talks
Hearing this, Xingluo slowly raised her eyes toward him before saying with a completely unimpressed expression, "I am not very impressed, Mister Imaginary Ghost."
The corner of Shen Wuxia’s mouth twitched slightly after hearing that title, but he still forced himself to remain patient while explaining who he was and how he had ended up here.
After listening for several minutes, Xingluo finally crossed her legs and looked at him with clear suspicion in her eyes.
"So you are saying, Mister Imaginary Ghost, that you died during a dungeon raid and then somehow got transported here," she said slowly while narrowing her eyes at him.
Shen Wuxia nodded seriously, but Xingluo clearly did not look convinced at all. She leaned back slightly and said, "I still do not believe you, so show me some proof that I am not going insane."
Hearing this, Shen Wuxia floated toward her table without wasting more time.
During his experiments throughout the night, he had discovered that he could move a few small objects to some extent, although doing so left his soul extremely exhausted afterward.
He reached the pencil lying near the edge of the table and focused for several breaths before giving it a weak push.
The pencil slowly rolled forward before dropping from the table and hitting the floor with a light sound.
Seeing this, Xingluo’s eyes widened slightly as she stared at the fallen pencil for a few moments. "Well... you are indeed something, it seems," she muttered before quickly looking back at him. "But now leave me."
Shen Wuxia sighed helplessly afterward while floating in place with a tired expression. "I wish I could, Miss Xingluo, but sadly, I cannot move anywhere outside a ten-foot radius of you."
Hearing this, Xingluo looked both confused and slightly curious about the absurd situation she had somehow fallen into.
But before she could ask anything else, her mother suddenly shouted from downstairs, telling her to hurry up and come for breakfast.
Xingluo glanced toward the door before looking back at him with narrowed eyes. "We will talk later, and until then, stay right there. If you move, I will let you experience pain you could never think of."
"But I am already dead," Shen Wuxia replied after a brief silence.
Xingluo’s expression twisted slightly as she pointed at him threateningly. "Then I will make you face nightmares instead, so do not test me, Mister Ghost."
Hearing this, Shen Wuxia could only shrug helplessly as she grabbed a pair of clothes and walked toward the bathroom.
After the door closed, he sat down near the bed while listening to the faint sound of water droplets and thinking about the strange situation he had landed himself in.
That voice had spoken about letting him uncover the truth behind his death and reach the peak again, yet after throwing him beside Luo Xingluo, it had completely vanished without giving him any proper explanation.
Where the hell have you vanished, and what were you even talking about? Rahh, at least explain before dropping me here like some cursed decoration.
Just as Shen Wuxia’s thoughts grew chaotic, a cold chime suddenly rang inside his mind. The next instant, a translucent blue window appeared before his eyes, and a faint loading bar slowly began filling across its center.
[System Loading...]
[Activation Conditions Being Fulfilled.]
[Current State: Soul Form.]
[Anchor Target: Luo Xingluo.]
[Win the anchor’s trust to accelerate system activation.]
Seeing the final line, Shen Wuxia’s eyes narrowed slightly as the loading bar continued moving forward.
Just as Shen Wuxia internally ranted, the bathroom door suddenly opened and Xingluo stepped out wearing neat formal clothes.
Her damp purple hair had been tied up inside a towel bun while a few wet strands still stuck lightly against her forehead.
In one hand, she held a laundry basket while walking out casually, yet for a brief moment, Shen Wuxia became almost mesmerized by the sight before him.
Seeing his strange, goofy gaze fixed on her, Xingluo immediately narrowed her eyes. "Oye, what are you looking at, Mister Ghost?"
Shen Wuxia coughed lightly as if trying to hide his embarrassment before quickly turning his gaze toward the window behind her. "Nothing, I was only looking at the snow outside."
Seeing him deny everything so fiercely, Xingluo only pouted slightly before walking past him. "You better control that gaze of yours."
She kicked the door open afterward and began descending the stairs while Shen Wuxia helplessly floated after her. Halfway down, she suddenly glanced back and asked, "What is your real name?"
Hearing this, Shen Wuxia panicked for a brief moment before answering seriously, "Knight."
Xingluo stopped on the stairs and looked at him with a nearly mortified expression. "I meant your real name."
"You can just call me Night, Miss Xingluo," Shen Wuxia replied calmly after correcting himself. "My real identity does not matter much right now."
Seeing him stubbornly stick to that answer, Xingluo sighed in defeat before muttering under her breath, "This ghost is even so cringy. What is the use of that handsome face then?"
Hearing this, Shen Wuxia felt both strangely elated and slightly offended at the same time.
After reaching downstairs, Xingluo placed the laundry basket aside before walking toward the kitchen, where her mother had already prepared several warm dishes.
The moment Shen Wuxia saw the food and smelled the faint aroma spreading through the room, a different kind of longing surfaced in his eyes.
Looking at his expression, Xingluo chuckled playfully while sitting at the table. "Is Mister Ghost hungry? Can ghosts even eat?"
Hearing the teasing tone in her voice, Shen Wuxia floated gloomily behind her while giving her a silent look that clearly said he would remember this.
Xingluo only shrugged casually before taking a phone out of her inventory and starting to message someone while eating breakfast.
As Xingluo continued scrolling and typing through her messages, Shen Wuxia floated slightly behind her and tried to glance at the screen from the corner of his eyes.
Seeing his obvious little tactic almost immediately, Xingluo snorted softly and said in a low threatening voice, "You better mind your own business, Mister Ghost Knight."
Shen Wuxia looked away as if nothing had happened, but the next moment, Xingluo opened another chat and his gaze still caught the profile picture on the screen.
The man in the picture looked handsome and confident, with a calm smile that could easily fool most people.
But what shocked Shen Wuxia was not the man’s appearance, it was his identity Qin Haoran.
Almost everyone in the city knew that name because he was considered the number one genius of the younger generation. He was also the eldest son of one of the richest families in the entire city, the Qin Family.
But Shen Wuxia knew far more than the shining reputation built around him.
Just like him, Qin Haoran was a sophomore at Tianchen University, and the truth behind that charming young master image was far darker than most people could ever imagine.
When he wanted to, Qin Haoran could appear gentle, graceful, and perfectly noble, but behind that mask was a cruel tyrant who treated everyone around him like vermin.
A year ago, there had been a case that shook the university for a short time before being buried completely.
During a conflict, Qin Haoran had crippled one hand of a boy from his class and later destroyed his girlfriend’s life without the slightest hesitation.
Ten days later, that same boy was found kneeling in front of Qin Haoran’s villa like a broken corpse that had not yet stopped breathing.
His girlfriend was found dead soon afterward, and even the families behind both of them were utterly crushed until no one dared mention the matter again.
Qin Haoran was not someone who approached people casually, he approached them only when they had value and when it came to beautiful women, that value usually ended in ruin.
