Chapter 183: Chapter 123: Preparing for Battle
It was mainly the overwhelming number of Undead standing on the platform that had terrified Percy, causing him to lose all confidence in the battle.
In the end, Percy was just an ordinary man from the modern world. He struggled to adapt to the unfamiliar medieval weapons, the various strange Races, the Magic, and the bizarre abilities. He even held a grudge about being a Transmigrator.
Back in his old life, he was on top of the world. He was thriving in the Ancient Eastern Country, raking in cash. Whenever he had free time, he’d hit the nightclubs and bars. With a little smooth talk, he could always find a beautiful young woman to spend the night with.
Life had been wonderful—he was practically living the dream. All he had to do was enjoy himself. Who would have thought he’d be inexplicably transported to the Otherworld? Now he was stuck fighting alongside a bunch of Natives every day, constantly living on the edge, where he could lose his life at any moment.
He lacked Benjamin’s ambition. His goals were simple: he just wanted to return to his old lifestyle. He wanted a life free of danger, with enough wealth to squander, and preferably a few more beautiful women by his side.
When it came to bullying Natives, they usually scouted their targets thoroughly first. Then, they would launch a surprise attack, using their superior numbers against an unprepared enemy, swiftly crushing them. After Plundering their resources, they would simply leave.
This was also their strategy the few times they encountered other Transmigrators. Once they confirmed their target was weak, easy to bully, and unfamiliar with the Otherworld, they would launch a sudden attack. They’d catch their opponent completely off guard, destroy their main hall as quickly as possible, kill the Lord, and take their resources.
’But things are different now! The enemy is obviously no weakling. Just look at that vast, dense Undead Army! Their strength is far greater than ours. Are they someone we can just bully? We should be running right now, as fast as we possibly can!’
’But Benjamin seems to have lost his mind! He wouldn’t listen to me at all and insisted on coming here. Now we’re face to face with them. What do we do?’
’I thought Benjamin must have some secret Weapon, but all he talks about is this being a "game." A game, my ass! If you die in the Otherworld, you’re really dead! It’s not like a video game where I can just create a new account and start over.’
Percy still didn’t want to fight the Undead. Fear was written all over his face. Seeing this, Benjamin shook his head. "We can still win this. Alright, Percy, I’ll negotiate with them first. If they’re willing to give us some resources, we won’t have to fight."
’He is my Ally, after all.’ Benjamin didn’t want to make things too tense, so he conceded a step. He hoped Percy would understand. ’If he doesn’t, there’s no point in saying anything more.’
Percy hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. If we can avoid a fight, we should. That guy is bad news."
Benjamin shrugged, not taking Percy’s words to heart. He wasn’t blind; he could see the enemy’s strength for himself. He didn’t need Percy to point it out.
He summoned a Jackal Wolfman scout and sent him to negotiate in his stead.
The Jackal Wolfman scout held up a stick with a piece of white cloth tied to it and rushed headlong toward the Undead Fortress. Benjamin wasn’t worried about the Undead attacking his scout. He figured the other party was also a Transmigrator, so they would surely understand the meaning of a white flag.
Standing on high, Li Ziyu saw the Jackal Wolfman running over with a white flag and raised an eyebrow. He dispatched a Skeleton Undead to make contact.
The Jackal Wolfman and the Skeleton Undead met in the middle ground between the two fortresses. After a brief exchange, they each turned and returned to their own Mobile Fortress.
Benjamin wasn’t an idiot. He had no intention of letting the Jackal Wolfman actually conduct negotiations. ’What a hassle that would be, especially without phones or anything.’ He had sent the scout over simply to tell the other party his ID, so they could add him as a friend in the system.
The speed of information transfer on the Undead’s side was clearly far superior to the Jackal Wolfman’s. Whatever was said, the Skeleton Undead instantly transmitted it to Li Ziyu through soul transmission.
’Add friend?’
’Might as well add him, then.’
