Chapter 178: Chapter 122: The Gnolls Are Coming

"Mengmeng, slow down! You just ate. Running around like that isn’t good for your stomach!"

Her belly was full of roasted meat, and the feeling of satiety filled the Little Cat Girl with energy. She scampered on all fours like a kitten bolting from its pen, bounding up the hillside. A smile on her face, Meng Ni called out gently from behind her.

Meng Ni expected Mengmeng to continue right on down the other side of the hill, but instead, she stood up and stared into the distance, completely still. Meng Ni hurried to her side. Seeing her dazed expression, she couldn’t help but ask, "Mengmeng, what’s wrong?"

"Sister, I have a feeling... we’re about to get a lot more meat. Look," Mengmeng murmured, pointing into the distance.

Puzzled, Meng Ni looked in the direction she was pointing. Her jaw dropped slightly. She saw a vehicle as vast as a city, surrounded by hundreds of running Jackal Wolfmen and Earth Wolves.

"Is that..." Meng Ni’s eyes widened. She covered her mouth, whispering in disbelief.

"Yep. It must be the Jackal Wolfman robbers from the Plundering Tribe," Mengmeng said with certainty, tilting her head up to look at her sister. "We have to get this information to the Undead. They’ll definitely give us a lot of meat for it."

Meng Ni and her sister exchanged a glance. The two Catmen nodded in unison, turned, and dashed back the way they came.

Unsurprisingly, they ran into the Minotaurs again.

"Huh? It’s you two again. Didn’t you just leave? Why are you back?" one of the resource-gathering Minotaurs asked, puzzled, as he saw the Little Cat Girl running toward them and shouting.

Mengmeng ran up to the Minotaur, panting. "HUFF... HUFF... Mister, no time to explain! Quick, take us to see the City Lord! Hurry, preferably the Undead City Lord!"

At the mention of Li Ziyu, the Minotaur’s expression immediately grew solemn. He gave the Little Cat Girl a long look, then turned and gestured to his companions. "Follow me," he said to her.

Several Minotaurs escorted the Cat Girl Sisters, quickly returning to the Bone Plate Platform. The Minotaurs didn’t have the authority to wake Li Ziyu, so they could only take the Cat Girl Sisters to Zhang Peng and Liu Xingxing.

The two City Lords were watching the Treasure Hunting Catmen repair the fortress. Thanks to the resources from Li Ziyu, Liu Xingxing now had quite a few more Treasure Hunting Catmen under his command. They were currently scrambling up and down, replacing damaged timber, reinforcing weak spots with new wood, and patching up projectile holes.

"City Lord Zhang Peng, the Catmen are here to see you again!" Mumu called out to Zhang Peng, leading the way.

Hearing this, Zhang Peng turned his head and looked at Mengmeng and Meng Ni in surprise. "Why are you two back again?"

Mengmeng scurried forward, stopping in front of Zhang Peng. She tilted her head up to look at him, her small, dirty face completely serious. "I have important information. I need to see the Master of the Undead."

Liu Xingxing, who was standing nearby, was amused by her words. He poked her on the forehead. "It’s not that easy to get an audience with the Master of the Undead. He doesn’t just see anyone. Why don’t you tell me this ’important information’ of yours? If it’s really that important, I’ll take you to him."

Mengmeng slapped his finger away and turned anxiously to Zhang Peng. "There’s no time! If we delay, the Master of the Undead will kill you!"

The Little Cat Girl’s anxiousness didn’t seem feigned. Zhang Peng’s expression slowly grew serious. "The Master of the Undead is resting right now. Disturbing him is not a good idea. I recommend you tell us now. That way, we can determine if we need to go to him."

’Li Ziyu was known to have a foul temper when woken up. Zhang Peng had no desire to go to Li Ziyu over the Little Cat Girl’s simple assertion. If he did, not only would the Little Cat Girl be in for it, but he would suffer right along with her. Running to the boss for every little thing is a sign of incompetence. No superior likes a subordinate like that.’

Mengmeng was about to say something else, but Meng Ni pulled her back. She gave Zhang Peng a slight bow. "My little sister can be impulsive, but the information is truly important. We found tracks belonging to the Jackal Wolfman robbers."

At this, the expressions of both Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng changed. Realizing the gravity of the situation, they opened their systems in unison and sent a message to Li Ziyu.

Li Ziyu had just lain down and closed his eyes to rest when a system alert blared in his mind. He sat up instantly, opened the system, and saw the messages from Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng. His eyes narrowed.

"Master?" Seeing Li Ziyu suddenly sit up and stare blankly with narrowed eyes, Mei Ji floated to his side and called out softly.

Li Ziyu snapped out of it and looked at Mei Ji with a faint smile. "Oh, it’s nothing. I have to go out for a bit."

Mei Ji faltered for a moment, then asked hurriedly, "Master, has something happened? Do you need me to handle it for you?"

’You had to hand it to the Fox Maidens; they were so considerate.’ Li Ziyu knew that Wandering Souls shouldn’t be out during the day, yet Mei Ji had offered anyway. ’Her words always knew how to put a person at ease.’

Shaking his head, Li Ziyu stood up, stretched his limbs, and patted his cheeks to wake himself up. "No need," he said. "You all rest here. I’ll go take a look."

With that, he ascended the stairs to the fortress roof. At his approach, countless Bone Plates shifted of their own accord, forming a staircase that led him out onto the platform.

The Skeleton Architecture had not been raised. Li Ziyu appeared alone on the platform. Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng hurried over to greet him.
