Chapter 174: Chapter 120: Scout Captain
He’d made the right choice. If he had attacked, the other Undead might not have been able to intervene in time, but the Dark Skeleton would have been ecstatic, guaranteed to kill him before he could even touch Li Ziyu.
Walking up to the White Bone Throne, Li Ziyu plopped down lazily, propping his chin on one hand. He drawled, "Alright, tell me. What’s in it for me if I spare your life?"
"My lord, I have a great deal of information you’ll need," the Jackal Wolfman said without hesitation.
’He’d already figured it out. The Master of the Undead was the same kind of person as his own City Lord—a being who possessed some sort of mysterious Energy. The Master of the Undead wouldn’t care about other things, but information... that offered a chance to live.’
Li Ziyu nodded, gesturing for him to continue.
"We’ve conquered many Tribes, and we’re very familiar with the ones in the Wasteland. If you wish, I can tell you everything," the Jackal Wolfman said, his head bowed. He was as meek as a rabbit, his voice oozing with flattery.
Li Ziyu scratched his itchy scalp and said nonchalantly, "Not enough."
"I know the location of an ore vein. I can lead you there," the Jackal Wolfman added, tossing out another bargaining chip.
Li Ziyu sat up a little straighter. His half-lidded eyes narrowed, and his voice dripped with impatience. "Are you playing dumb with me? Don’t you know what kind of information I want?"
This shift in his mood agitated the surrounding Undead, who began to slowly close in on the Jackal Wolfman. The Scout Captain swallowed hard and stammered, "M-My lord, I don’t dare! If I tell you, the City Lord will kill me."
"Hm? And you think I won’t kill you?" Li Ziyu picked at his ear. The Jackal Wolfman’s words were grating. ’What makes him think an Undead City Lord like me is afraid to kill anyone? How strange.’
"N-No, that’s not it, but..." The Jackal Wolfman’s eyes darted about as he desperately tried to think of a way to persuade the Master of the Undead to spare his life and let him escape.
Li Ziyu waved a hand, cutting him off. "Let’s be clear," he said slowly. "I know where you’re from, and I know who your City Lord is. You, in turn, know what information I want. If you can’t give it to me, you won’t have to wait for your City Lord to kill you, because I’ll do it myself. Got it? Stop wasting my time with nonsense. My patience is limited."
"O-Okay, I understand! The City Lord’s name is Percy Jackson, and our fortress is 20 kilometers away." The threat of death was highly effective; the Jackal Wolfman spilled the information in a hurry.
’Percy Jackson? Isn’t that a foreigner’s name?’
’There are foreigners among the Transmigrators, too?’
This genuinely surprised Li Ziyu. He had always assumed all Transmigrators were from that Ancient Eastern Country; the only ones he’d ever met were Eastern People. The sudden appearance of a foreign name was a bit jarring.
When the Jackal Wolfman fell silent, Li Ziyu snapped impatiently, "Keep going. Troop numbers, weapons, equipment—tell me everything, and I’ll let you live."
"Yes, my lord! Under the City Lord’s command, there are over two thousand of my kin, all equipped with Armor. We prefer to use various blunt weapons. For ranged combat, we have Firearms. Oh, and Earth Wolves! We have several hundred Earth Wolves." The Jackal Wolfman spoke in a rush. When he was done, he stole a glance at Li Ziyu and asked in a small voice, "My lord, I’ve told you everything I know. Can you... can you let me go now?"
Li Ziyu glanced at him, smacked his lips, and waved a hand.
"Kill him."
"Wai—"
Before the Scout Captain could beg for mercy, the Dark Skeleton shot forward. It extended a single finger and slowly drew it across his throat as if it were a blade, slicing it open. Foul-smelling blood instantly gushed out, splattering all over the Dark Skeleton.
The creature didn’t even try to dodge. In fact, it leaned into the spray, letting more of the blood drench its body, looking utterly thrilled by the experience.
As the Jackal Wolfman’s blood landed on its frame, it was absorbed by the ash-gray bones as quickly as water soaking into a sponge.
Li Ziyu facepalmed, his cheek twitching. ’I can’t even watch.’ "Ewww! That’s enough, knock it off! Go stand over there!"
