Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Older Brother’s Black Card
She thought she was just accompanying Gabriel to buy clothes, but it turned out she was the main event.
They had only been through one floor, and Gabriel had already spent over seven hundred thousand.
Although she wasn’t concerned about the money itself, the thought of it all being spent on clothes pained her deeply.
Seven hundred thousand was enough to buy quite a few reagents.
Gabriel was about to say that a few hundred thousand was nothing, but after seeing the look in his little sister’s eyes, he opened his mouth and then thought better of it.
"Here."
Suddenly, Gabriel thrust something cool into Chloe Sinclair’s hand.
Chloe looked down, a little surprised.
"I don’t usually save much money. This card has my allowance from Dad on it. It’s yours now. From now on, buy whatever you want."
Chloe Sinclair hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Okay."
The truth was, she was very short on money.
In the future, she wanted to build a laboratory and buy materials, neither of which would be cheap.
"But once I start earning money, I’ll pay you back," Chloe Sinclair promised.
She knew how much Gabriel spent every day, so the fact that he would just hand his bank card over to her was incredibly touching.
But Gabriel didn’t take Chloe Sinclair’s words seriously.
"You’re still young. What’s this about earning money? Your three older brothers can support you."
In Gabriel’s eyes, little sisters were meant to be spoiled.
He used to dote on Nina Sinclair, but after coming home and learning about some of the things she had done recently, he felt a growing distance from her.
Now, feeling guilty toward his own little sister, he just wanted to give her the very best of everything.
"From now on, you just need to do whatever you love. Even if the sky falls, your three older brothers will be there to hold it up for you."
Chloe Sinclair froze, and her eyes suddenly reddened.
She lowered her head so Gabriel wouldn’t see her reaction.
After leaving the mall, Gabriel had the sales associates deliver the day’s purchases to their home, then drove her to a hotel for dinner.
Because of who Gabriel was, he couldn’t eat at ordinary restaurants.
Fortunately, the hotel had five-star chefs, and they both enjoyed their meal in high spirits.
When they got home, Chloe Sinclair was greeted by the sight of Mr. Sinclair and Ethan Sinclair with dark, gloomy expressions.
She froze for a moment, thinking something terrible had happened.
But unexpectedly, the moment Mr. Sinclair saw her, his expression changed instantly. "Chloe," he said, "you must be tired. Go on upstairs and get some rest."
Chloe Sinclair instinctively glanced at her other brother, Ethan, and noticed his legs were trembling where he stood.
Thinking back on the day’s events, Chloe Sinclair instantly understood.
She nodded and, without a shred of pity, left the scene.
Gabriel opened his mouth, a flash of desolate, pitiful longing in his eyes.
The next morning, when Chloe Sinclair came downstairs, Gabriel had already left.
"Dad, I got on the show, ’Genius’."
She had gotten back so late last night that she hadn’t had a chance to tell Mr. Sinclair.
Mr. Sinclair froze, a flicker of disbelief on his face, but he quickly composed himself.
"That’s impressive."
Realizing he might have sounded a bit cold, Mr. Sinclair added, "When do you leave? Your big brother and I will take you."
"I join the production in two days. I’ll just take a taxi."
This time, Mr. Sinclair didn’t press the issue, just nodding. "Be safe."
After breakfast, Chloe Sinclair returned to her room to continue studying.
’It’s been half a month, and there hasn’t been a peep from the System. I wonder when its update will finally be finished.’
’I’d gotten so used to its voice nagging me to study every day. After all this time without it, I have to admit, I kind of miss it.’
Just then, her phone buzzed with a notification from a group chat.
