Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Mysterious Mentor

"Sin... Sinclair who?"

The director shot up from his chair.

"Landon Sinclair? You’ve got to be kidding me."

He quickly wracked his brain, trying to think if there was anyone in the entertainment industry with that name. After a moment, he realized there wasn’t.

He looked up at his assistant and asked, "So what did you say to him on the phone?"

The assistant gulped, lowered his head, and answered truthfully, "Pretty much what you just said."

The director was speechless.

He was holding back a litany of curses.

The assistant said defensively, "The guy on the phone sounded exactly like a telemarketer from a pyramid scheme! Besides, I never would have imagined Landon Sinclair would want to be on our show."

Even though their show was state-sponsored, this was Landon Sinclair they were talking about.

He was a man who had twenty million followers with just a single Weibo account.

And no one had ever heard of him having any interest in appearing on television shows.

The director listened to his assistant’s explanation, a headache already forming. He threatened, "You can forget about your bonus this month."

After a pause, he added, "Give me your phone."

"Wh-what for?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"To call him back, of course."

With that, he took the phone and dialed the number that ended with six sixes.

The call connected in under three seconds, and a calm, deep male voice answered.

"H-Hello, sir."

The director’s voice trembled slightly as he spoke.

"Yes," Landon Sinclair replied without looking up, flipping through some data in his hands.

The director’s heart skipped a beat. "Excuse me, are you truly interested in being the mysterious mentor for our show, *Genius*?"

"I am," Landon said after a brief pause. "When do you need me?"

"In three days. If you could arrive at the television station before 10 AM, someone will be there to greet you."

"Alright."

With that, he hung up.

But instead of being angry at being hung up on, the director simply spun around on the spot.

"This is fantastic!"

The production team had lined up four mentors for the show, but they still hadn’t found their mysterious fifth mentor.

They had been on the verge of scrapping the idea of a mysterious mentor altogether, but now, Landon Sinclair had actually volunteered.

The director was so moved he was close to tears.

"Make sure we send a proper welcoming party to the entrance to greet Professor Sinclair."

Just as Chloe Sinclair arrived at the mall, she received a notification that she had made it to the finals.

She had added the director on WeChat, and he had immediately pulled her into the work group chat.

What surprised her, however, was that her second older brother was also in the group.

This was, to say the least, a bit of a shock.

She was about to send Landon Sinclair a private message to ask what was going on, but Gabriel Sinclair pulled her into a women’s clothing store.

"Chloe, isn’t this dress beautiful?"

Gabriel Sinclair held the dress up to Chloe Sinclair, suddenly feeling that his little sister would look good in anything.

The ’big brother filter’ was a powerful thing indeed.

Chloe glanced at the price tag and said honestly, "It is pretty."

And the price tag was simply gorgeous.

Hearing this, Gabriel Sinclair declared with a grand wave of his hand, "We’ll take it."

The nearby sales associate hadn’t expected the customer to be so decisive, buying the dress directly without even trying it on.

She enthusiastically bagged the dress and handed it over with a wide smile. "Sir, will that be card or cash?"

"Card."

With that, he took a black card from his wallet.

The corner of Chloe Sinclair’s mouth twitched as she stopped Gabriel Sinclair’s hand. "Gabriel, you don’t have to."
