Chapter 274: Hubby, Do You Remember This Place?
These days, he would occasionally visit the Allsons, and he noticed that Wanda often sat there alone in a daze.
But out of respect for her privacy and since he was an outsider, he had never dared to ask her if she was okay.
Hearing his question, Wanda hesitated for a moment then said, "It’s not a big deal, but there are some things that I can’t let go."
Hearing this, Rob paused for a moment then said, "In life, there are many things that we can’t let go, but the space in our hearts is limited. It can’t hold everything. So, we need to differentiate and perhaps we can only store things that make us happy. That may be the best."
Wanda never imagined that the usually quiet Rob would say so much all of a sudden. This was indeed surprising.
"Never would I have imagined that you could be so enlightened at such a young age."
Wanda’s words caused a trace of discomfort to show on Rob’s face.
"Ms. Allson, I’m 27 years old."
Wanda paused for a moment and suddenly remembered.
"Yes, yes, yes. I forgot that you are about the same age as Chris, but in my eyes, you are still a young teenager."
Wanda softly chuckled.
Rob unhappily raised an eyebrow.
Wanda did not notice the strange expression on his face. She just sighed and said, "Time flies. When I left, you were only 17 years old. Ten years have passed in a blink of an eye."
Rob frowned in silence.
"Perhaps you are right. Keep only what makes us happy, and let go of things that make us unhappy. Thank you, Rob."
Wanda said sincerely.
Rob remained silent then had a thoughtful look before saying.
"The temperature is getting lower. Ms. Allson, maybe it is better to go indoors."
Wanda glanced at the waves pounding her legs that were growing bigger and nodded. "Let’s go."
The two walked toward the resort one after the other.
Meanwhile, on the balcony of the resort villa.
Chris and Janice were lying comfortably on the deck chairs, listening to the waves.
"Honey, do you remember this place?"
Janice asked.
Chris thought for a moment before he said, "Remember what about this place?"
She said, "We’ve been here before."
Only then did Chris realize what she was asking about. He thought to himself, "If I don’t remember, I wouldn’t have chosen this place."
But when he thought about how she wasn’t aware that he had regained his memories, he said, "Why don’t you tell me about it?"
Hearing his words, in her heart, she felt like it’s such a pity. After all, he couldn’t even remember this place where they had shared so much romance.
In fact, she could have gotten pregnant while they were here the last time.
It felt so sweet when she recalled how intimate they were that night.
"Actually, there’s not much to say. It’s just that we’ve been here before and stayed here for a night."
"Is that so? Then we’re revisiting an old haunt."
"I remember that the stars were particularly bright that night. I even saw the Big Dipper in the sky."
As she spoke, she looked up at the sky.
Chris looked up too. The stars were very bright this evening.
"Look, isn’t that the Big Dipper?"
He said.
She froze for a moment, then looked in the direction that he was pointing. Indeed, she saw the Big Dipper.
She couldn’t help but be stunned. "It’s really the Big Dipper."
He looked at her and said, "I heard that the Big Dipper can make wishes come true. Why don’t we make a wish?"
As he spoke, he put his palms together. Just as he was about to close his eyes, she reminded him, "You... Wait a minute."
...
Hearing this, Chris looked at her in confusion.
Only then did Janice say, "We cannot make random wishes with the Big Dipper. Although every single star represents a wish, one would suffer a backlash if one is too greedy. So you can’t be greedy and wish for everything. You have to make a choice."
She was very serious when she said this.
Chris was slightly stunned.
"There’s such a rule?"
Janice, however, did not say anything. She thought to herself, "The last time I was too greedy and made too many wishes. It caused me to almost lose him."
Although it was a myth and may not be real, she would rather believe it after her last experience.
She nodded vigorously. "Of course, it’s better to believe it than not. In short, just don’t make too many random wishes."
Hearing her words, Chris nodded without much of a choice. "Then... what wish do you want me to make?"
He gazed at her and asked intently.
She blinked at him then said, "That’s up to you."
"No, this wish is for you."
He said.
After a brief pause, she said, "Then, let’s wish to be blessed. I hope that our family can be happily together forever. What do you think?"
She looked at Chris.
He also looked at her.
He discovered that Janice was much calmer as she said those words.
She was no longer as fervent as the last time.
"Whatever you say, I’ll follow. I am going to make my wish now."
As he spoke, he placed his palms together and closed his eyes.
She sat there, quietly watching him make his wish.
After she got back with Chris, she had experienced a lot, and also gained a lot.
She was no longer as anxious as before.
On the contrary, she was more at peace. Now she only hoped to be with Chris forever.
However, this didn’t need to be fulfilled with a wish to the stars.
Because she was confident.
"Okay, I am done."
He opened his eyes and said.
When he noticed that she was staring at him and did not make a wish, he asked perplexed, "Why didn’t you make a wish?"
She shook her head with a slight smile. "Your wish is enough for the both of us."
He teased, "You’re afraid that you’re too greedy."
She neither admit nor deny it. She merely stared at him with a smile. "Well, it’s getting late. It’s time for prenatal education." Chris glanced at his watch and reminded her.
He reached out to help her up, but suddenly, Janice let out a cry.
"What’s wrong?" He was startled and asked hurriedly.
"Honey, the baby just kicked me hard." she replied in pain.
Only then did Chris realize what had happened and his eyes fell on her abdomen. He bent down and ’reprimanded’.
"Kiddo, don’t bully Mommy, or Daddy will never tell you a story again."
Perhaps it was because of his warning that Janice felt the baby suddenly calmed down.
"Honey, the baby seems to understand. He stopped kicking me."
Chris stood up straight and said arrogantly.
"Of course, he wouldn’t dare."
She couldn’t resist chuckling as she looked at his haughty expression.
He took her praise very seriously.
The next day, Wanda proposed that they return home.
With Old Mr. Allson at home, she did not feel at ease being away for too long.
Janice and Chris did not try to persuade her.
On the way back, Janice pulled Wanda into their car. She sat with Wanda at the back and left Chris alone in the front to drive.
"Mom, do you feel better?"
...
Wanda smiled, "When I saw the sea and felt the sea breeze, it was very soothing. It was as if the breeze had blown away my worries. My heart felt lighter and suddenly things seemed clearer. There are just things that I need to learn to let go. Thank you, Janice." Wanda said sincerely.
"That’s good. As long as you feel better." Janie felt comforted.
After returning home, Wanda pulled Chris aside and said, "Chris, I thought it through. I’ve been separated from your father for so many years, I can’t get back together with him. Moreover, if your grandfather was lucid, he won’t agree to my forgiving him just like that. So, I’ve decided to completely end this unhappy marriage."
Wanda seemed to have made up her mind.
When Chris heard that his mother had come to this final decision, he felt much more relieved.
Although they were both his parents, he always thought that his parents were not compatible for each other. In fact, he concluded that his father was not suited to spend his life with anyone. It was better that he be alone for the rest of his life.
He said, "Mom, I told you, no matter what choice you make, I’ll support it."
Hearing this, Wanda heaved a long sigh of relief and said, "Thank Janice for me. I know she had taken leave to accompany me these past few days."
"I will." Chris nodded.
"So, you can move back home." Wanda said, "I have asked Nanny Daisy to find a helper. You can meet the person when you have time. If the person is not suitable, we can continue the search."
"Mom, Janice was the one who wanted to move here..." Before Chris could finish his sentence, Wanda interrupted him.
"Janice is a great daughter-in -law. However, your grandfather’s situation is unstable. There are often people going in and out of the house. Janice is pregnant and needs to rest during her pregnancy. I’ll feel more at ease if you move back home."
Some things were better left unsaid and Chris got the hint. After all, they were used to their own way of living and there were indeed some inconveniences when living together. He did not insist and said, "Okay, I’ll tell Janice."
"Go, don’t make her wait too long." Wanda ushered.
Chris nodded, turned around, and walked toward the room.
Wanda sighed as she stared at her son’s disappearing back.
When Chris came to the bedroom, Janice was half-kneeling on the ground, unpacking her luggage.
Seeing this, Chris hurried over.
"Didn’t I tell you to wait for me to unpack?"
He put down the clothes in her hands and helped her up.
She held onto him and got up, then said, "It’s okay. Anyway, I have nothing to do."
Chris helped her to the sofa and said, "That’s not good. After sitting in the car for a few hours, you should be lying down."
As he spoke, he placed a pillow beside her, coaxing her to lie down.
Janice had no choice but to lie down slowly. Watching him walk over, she was puzzled when he started putting the items back into the suitcase.
"Why are you putting them back?"
Chris stopped what he was doing and said, "Let’s move back."
"Huh?"
Janice sat up on the sofa. "Why? Didn’t we just move here? Besides, Mom needs company right now." She asked.
Chris frowned. "That’s exactly what Mom wants. She hopes that you can peacefully nurse your pregnancy at home."
