Chapter 269: I Don’t Believe I Can’t Cure Him
Hearing his mother mention this, James felt annoyed.
"Mom, why are you comparing me to that bastard again? Eldest grandson? My child only has one identity. James Taylor’s child is not a tool for you to claim credit."
After saying that, he ignored his mother and left with his coat.
Early the next morning, Yvonne went to the hospital. Today was the first day she was seeing patients. Her first appointment was already waiting for her in the clinic.
When she entered the clinic, she thought she was early, she didn’t expect that the registration had been completed so early and her patient was in the room waiting for her.
She was a little surprised.
"Yvonne."
Just as Yvonne was amazed by the data displayed on the computer screen, someone knocked on the door of the consulting room.
She looked up and saw Stanley standing at the door.
"Dr Levingston."
She got up in a hurry.
"Congratulations. I heard that you are booked out today. Seems that you have loyal followers."
Stanley walked in with a smile.
Yvonne was a little embarrassed by his praise.
"Dr Levingston, please don’t make fun of me. It’s merely a coincidence."
However, Stanley said, "Don’t belittle yourself. I told you, you are very outstanding."
After Stanley’s affirmation again and again, she as sweet as honey.
"Oh yes, Stanley, are you free tonight? I’d like to make up for last night, I wonder if you..."
Before she could finish, Stanley said.
"Tonight... I’m afraid not. I have a consultation."
"Oh, ok." She felt a little disappointed. After all, she had mustered up enough courage to ask. However, she knew there are future opportunities so she quickly said, "It’s okay. Let’s meet again another day."
"Okay. Have a great day!"
He patted her on the shoulder, turned around, and walked out.
She stood there immersing herself in his lingering warmth. She could not help reaching out to the spot where he had patted, touch it and smiled.
At this moment, there was a knock on the door again and a nurse came in.
"Excuse me, Dr. White, are you ready to take the first appointment?"
Just then, she came back to reality. She looked at the time and said, "Yes."
The nurse nodded and walked out.
Not long after, the first patient came in.
"Doctor, can I come in?"
She nodded and slowly looked up from the computer. When she saw who it was, she was shocked.
"Why is it you?"
She suddenly stood up.
James ignored the surprise in her eyes, walked in unhurriedly, pulled out a chair, and sat down. He said, "Why is Dr. White surprised to see me?"
The door of the consulting room was opened, and there were people walking by. She had to control her temper. So she could only hide her expression and say in a whisper, "James, this is a hospital. Please don’t mess around."
"I’m not messing around. I’m a patient. I’m here to see Dr. White. If you don’t believe me, you can have a look. This is my appointment number."
As he spoke, he took out his appointment number and waved it in front of her eyes.
She was extremely angry. She refused to believe that he was here to see a doctor.
But now that she was that doctor, she could not drive away patients, which was inconsistent with her professional ethics.
Therefore, she could only endure it. She sat down, and said, "Well, since you’re here to see a doctor, tell me what’s wrong with you."
As she spoke, she put his medical record card and medical record book on the table.
She didn’t believe that she couldn’t deal with him.
...
She waited for a long time, but he did not say anything. She frowned and asked.
"So? What’s wrong with you?"
James sat up straight and said, "I don’t know what’s wrong with me."
He said with self-righteousness.
Yvonne was speechless and hearing this, she put down her pen. "What are you here for?"
"I am here to check because I don’t know why I feel unwell," He said innocently.
She stared at him and had an impulse to throw him out, but when she thought of her professional ethics, she controlled herself and said, "Then, let’s do a full-body check-up. I’ll give you a list. You need to go to the various clinics in the hospital to get checked."
After saying that, she began to key in the requests into the computer.
James sat there, staring at her as she worked hard. He could not help curling his lips.
After she had finished inputting into the system, she printed a slip and gave it to him. She said, "Go do the blood test at level 3, then the electrocardiogram at level 9, and the 18th and 19th levels..."
"Wait..." James felt that something was wrong and interrupted her. She stared at him. "What’s wrong? What do you want to say?" James paused then said.
"Dr. White, as far as I know, you have to do a physical check on me before you set up these tests. It’s compliant with medical procedures."
She didn’t expect him to say that. She laughed and said, "It seems that you know a lot about the medical protocol."
"Of course, I don’t know much about medical protocols, but I have read articles or news about it"
The corners of her mouth twitched. "Well, you said that you don’t know what’s wrong with you just now, so I decided on full medical checkup. If you’re not satisfied with my decision, please turn left and go to the nurse station to get a new doctor. Goodbye, I won’t see you out."
After saying that, she returned to her computer.
It was obvious that he was asked to leave.
James calmly said, "Dr. White, you are obviously driving away the patient."
"What nonsense are you spouting? It’s clearly you who is dissatisfied with me."
She frowned.
"I’ve never said that."
James said innocently.
She was furious, but she was at a disadvantage and could not reason with him. She gritted her teeth and said, "All right, tell me, what do you want?"
"Let’s go according to the procedure."
James said with a smile.
"What’s your so-called procedure?" She asked.
"To do a physical examination on the spot, of course."
He said directly.
She thought to herself, "This guy is here to be a scoundrel."
Nevertheless, it didn’t matter. Just treat him as a rogue.
With this thought, she pointed to the bed in the examination room not far away and said, "Go there and lie down."
Seeing that she had compromised, he slowly got up and walked over to check the bed.
When she walked over with the stethoscope, he was already lying on the bed.
However, his so-called lying down was nothing more than lying on his side with one hand on his temples and a pair of longing eyes staring at her with intent. He didn’t look like he was ill at all. He was obviously trying to seduce her.
She shook her head with resignation and rolled her eyes. She had the urge to drag him out of the room and beat him up.
But when she thought of her hard-earned job, she restrained herself.
It was just a physical examination.
It was a full body check-up with his clothes off. What was there to be afraid of?
With that, she hung the stethoscope around her neck, rolled up her sleeves, and walked over. "I’ll press your abdomen later. If you feel uncomfortable, let me know."
...
Before James could react, she had pushed his arm that was supporting his head. He instantly lay flat on the bed.
Exactly what she wanted.
The next second, she pressed down on a certain point on his abdomen.
"Does it hurt here?"
He was stunned by her series of movements and did not know whether it hurt or not.
While he was hesitating, she moved her hand to another position.
"What about here?"
This time, she increased the pressure of her hand.
He was caught off guard and almost cried out in pain when she pressed down on him. To avoid embarrassment, he gritted his teeth and said, "No, it doesn’t hurt."
She snorted coldly in her heart. "Pain tolerance is quite high."
Then, she pressed down on another point, exerting even more strength.
Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead as he thought to himself, "She is really strong, but I like it. Spicy!"
He endured it and said calmly, "It doesn’t hurt."
She stared at the sweat on his forehead and thought to herself, "If it didn’t hurt, why are you sweating so much?"
She wanted to see how much he could endure. She moved her hand to another spot.
Before she could continue, he stopped her, "Dr. White, there is no pain in the abdomen. Shall we move on?"
He looked at her provocatively.
She stopped and saw his provocative gaze. She thought to herself, "Seems like you want to go all the way regardless of the consequences. I’ll fulfill your wish."
She said, "Okay, let’s move on to the next examination. What about legs?"
This time, she did not use her hand. Instead, she turned around and picked up a wooden hammer from the table beside her.
"This hammer is supposed to help the recovery of patients with nerve disorder. It might be exactly the problem you have. It may hurt a little. Try to bear with it."
She explained. Her tone sounded a bit scary to James.
He subconsciously looked at the hammer in her hand and was apprehensive.
He thought to himself, "If she doesn’t control her force using that thing, I will be
disabled."
Thinking of this, before she could raise the hammer, he hurriedly said, "My legs are good. I don’t feel any discomfort there."
When she saw that he was backing down, she deliberately said, "It’s okay. Didn’t you say that you want to have a full checkup?"
With that, she raised her hammer and was about to hit him. He was so scared that he turned over and got out of bed in a split second.
She saw how frightened he was and couldn’t help sneering in her heart. "Smart Alec. You think I don’t have my ways with you... Ha!"
She put down the hammer and said, "Since you’re afraid, let’s forget it. Tell me, where else do you want me to check?"
Yvonne asked.
James hurriedly said, "It’s all good. It’s all good. There is no need for any further examination. Maybe you can give me a diagnosis."
Seeing how frightened he was, she put down her hammer and thought to herself:
You’re still too inexperienced to challenge me.
She was pleased. She went back to her computer in a good mood. After she keyed in some information into the system, she said, "I’ve prescribed a few boxes of medicated pads for you. Apply them according to the instructions. I am sure you will feel better soon."
As she spoke, she handed him a prescription slip then gave him a ’you can leave now’ look.
He stared at her side profile with narrowed imperceptible eyes, then took the prescription slip on the table, said goodbye to her, and without staying any longer, walked out.
