Chapter 267: Going Home

"How are you?"

As soon as she raised her hand, Chris reached out and grabbed it. He caressed it with a loving look.

Janice struggled but failed to break free. She glared at him and warned, "Be careful, or I won’t let you off!"

She was like an angry kitten, waving her claws. She looked fierce but had no lethality.

Chris chuckled.

"Ok, ok, ok. You can do whatever you want to me."

"That’s more like it."

She coyly said.

"Then... my dear wife, can we go home now?"

He looked at her as if he had a hidden agenda.

She said proudly with a raised eyebrow. "Let’s go home."

On Monday, Yvonne officially started work at First Medical Group. After passing tests that took a week, she finally became an official working doctor of the Internal Medicine Department of First Medical Group. Stanley, with a few doctors in white coats, had been waiting for her when she arrived. They greeted her when they saw her.

"Yvonne, welcome to our internal medicine department." Yvonne was a little surprised to see Stanley walking toward her.

After all, he was the director and the most authoritative internal medicine expert in the department, while she was just an ordinary doctor who had just joined the hospital. She really didn’t deserve such attention.

"Thank you, Dr Levingston." Yvonne was a little nervous.

"Come on, let me introduce you to everyone. This is Dr. White who is joining our department. She was from the same medical college and under the same professor as me."

"Welcome, Dr. White."

All the doctors shook hands with and welcomed her. It was a little awkward for Yvonne.

"Thank you, everyone."

After that, Stanley asked everyone to disperse. He said to Yvonne, "It’s your first day so the hospital’s system doesn’t have your records yet. You don’t have to see

patients today. Familiarize with the environment first."

"Okay."

Yvonne nodded her head.

"Let’s go. I’ll take you to the clinic first to get familiar with"

"Thank you."

Yvonne followed Stanley to the clinic.

"Yvonne, the whole floor belongs to our internal medicine department. My office is over there, and there is a separate consulting room. You should be on the other side. Come on, Iet’s have a look."

Yvonne nodded and followed Stanley.

Right behind them was James, who was helping his mom, as they walked into the clinic.

"Mom, didn’t you just come to the hospital last week? Why are you here today?"

James couldn’t understand why his mother was so keen on coming to the hospital.

Just last week, the doctor had examined her and there was nothing wrong with her.

Hearing her son’s complaint, Mrs. Taylor frowned. "What do you know? Last time, it was the cardiology department. This time, it’s the neurology department. I heard that they’ve hired an expert recently, so I’m afraid I have to come and take a look."

Hearing his mom, Taylor felt a headache coming on. Forget it, she could do whatever she wanted. Anyway, she was already at the hospital.

He did not continue. He looked up and glanced around. He found a familiar figure in front of him. She looked like Yvonne.

He paused for a moment before saying to his mom, "Mom, wait here for a moment. I’ll ask someone."

With that, he helped his mom to sit down on a nearby chair before chasing after the familiar figure.

"Dr Levingston, will this be against the rules? I am new here and I’m already using such a good consulting room. It’s really..."

After seeing her consulting room, Yvonne felt a little worried.

...

She had viewed all the rooms along the way and except for Stanley’s room, hers was the best.

She felt a little awkward.

However, Stanley said, "There’s nothing against the rules. With your capability, you deserve it. If anyone makes trouble, ask them to come to me."

"But..."

Yvonne was about to say something, but Stanley had moved on to another topic.

Seeing this, Yvonne swallowed her words and reminded herself to work hard.

With that, she kind of felt relieved and continued to chat with Stanley.

When James caught up with them, they were already in the operating room.

He glanced inside and true enough, it was Yvonne. She was wearing a white coat and standing next to a man in the same attire. He didn’t know what she was saying, but she nodded repeatedly and stole glances at the man when he wasn’t paying attention. She looked unusually shy and her cheeks were blushed.

James was a little surprised with what he saw.

He knew Yvonne quite well. She was a very confident woman. Sometimes, more daring than a man.

So if she was now blushing, and to a man ...

His intuition told him that the relationship between them was not simple. James felt jealous and his body stiffened.

"James, why are you standing there?"

His mom’s voice suddenly came from behind. James jumped and was about to stop her from continuing.

Mrs. Taylor saw Yvonne in the room and said in surprise, "Isn’t that the daughter of the Whites? Her name is... what’s her name again?"

James frowned. "Yvonne White."

"Yes, her name is Yvonne. You’ve been hanging out with her for so long, but you haven’t brought her home to meet me. Good thing I have met her once and have a good memory, or I wouldn’t know it’s her if we walked passed one another."

Mrs. Taylor was about to greet her, but was stopped by James.

"Don’t. She’s at work."

However, she rebuked him. "What are you afraid of? I’ll just say hello and leave."

As she spoke, she ignored James’ objection and walked in.

James thought to himself that he was going to be exposed.

"Yvonne."

Just as Yvonne was chatting with Stanley, a voice suddenly came from behind her.

She turned her head and saw a middle-aged woman walking in.

"You are?"

Yvonne was a little puzzled.

Mrs. Taylor was taken aback. "I’m James’ mother. We’ve met once. Maybe you don’t remember."

Hearing his name, Yvonne suddenly realized that she was James’ mother. She suddenly felt a little embarrassed.

"Hello Mrs. Taylor."

Mrs. Taylor took a step forward and held her hand.

"What a coincidence. A few days ago, I asked James to bring you over for dinner. I didn’t expect to see you here today."

The more Mrs. Taylor spoke, the more embarrassed Yvonne felt. She thought to herself, "What nonsense has James been spouting?"

She glanced at Stanley, who was standing beside her. It was obvious that he had the wrong perception too. Just as she was about to explain, James walked over.

"Mom, I told you, Yvonne darling is at work, so stop disturbing her."

He winked at her as he spoke.

...

Yvonne felt a headache coming on. Now it was even more difficult to explain.

At this moment, Stanley said, "Yvonne, have a good chat. I’ll go back to my work."

Without waiting for Yvonne to respond, he walked toward the door.

Yvonne wanted to catch up, but was stopped by James.

She had no choice and out of politeness to Mrs. Taylor, she couldn’t say much. She could only glare at James with gritted teeth.

James acted as if he there was nothing wrong and said to his mother, "Mom, didn’t you make an appointment with the doctor? It’s time."

Only then did Mrs. Taylor remember why she had come to the hospital. She said, "Yes, yes, yes, I forgot about it. Yvonne, I just happened to bumped into you today, why not come over with James for dinner tonight. I’ll cook something awesome."

Without giving Yvonne a chance to refuse, Mrs. Taylor turned around and left.

"I’ll pick you up tonight."

After saying that, James followed her.

Yvonne was left alone before she could respond to anyone.

She was frustrated. "What dinner? I didn’t agree at all."

For the whole day, Yvonne was very agitated.

Stanley seemed to be hiding from her on purpose. For the rest of the day, she didn’t see him at all.

Yvonne was at a loss. It was her first day at work and she was already troubled. Was it bad luck?

"Dr. White, it’s time to get off work."

It was not until six o’clock in the evening that Yvonne got back her senses. She glanced around. Her colleagues had all left, leaving her sitting there alone.

Only then did she realize that she had been idling around in the hospital the entire day.

Looking at the empty clinic, she sighed. Frowning, she got up and walked out as well.

She came to Stanley’s office feeling a little uneasy. Seeing that he was just packing up, she hesitated before knocking on his door.

"Come in."

Stanley did not look up.

Yvonne paused then walked in.

"Dr Levingston."

Stanley looked up and asked, "Yvonne? You haven’t left yet?"

She was stunned and said, "Not yet. Are you getting off work?"

Stanley nodded. "It’s time to get off work. What... can I do for you?"

Yvonne looked embarrassed. She was not sure if Stanley had misinterpreted but she wanted to explain, yet she did not know how to.

She stood there and pondered. Then, she plucked up her courage and said, "Please don’t misunderstand what happened this morning. That was my blind date’s mother. We met once and it didn’t work out. I don’t know if there was a misunderstanding, so..."

Before she could finish her words, Stanley interrupted her.

"I see. Even you go on blind dates. Seems like I am outdated."

The atmosphere eased up immediately because of Stanley’s teasing, and Yvonne relaxed. She said.

"Don’t laugh at me. It’s arranged by my family. Nowadays, who can find the right person by going on blind dates?"

She was a little melancholic.

"It’s getting late. Let’s have dinner together. It’s on me." Stanley glanced at his watch and said.

Yvonne had not expected him to invite her to dinner. She froze for a moment then said happily, "Okay, but let me buy dinner"

Stanley smiled and said nothing.

"Wait a minute. I’m going to change my clothes."

"Okay."

She stood there and did not look away until he was far away. When she thought that the misunderstanding had been resolved, she felt much better.

She was relieved. When she turned around and was about to leave, she bumped into James who was standing behind her.

She was startled. "Why are you standing behind me without making a sound?"
