Chapter 2937 - The Extreme Lightning Dao-Incineration Incantation
Su Yi stood between heaven and earth, endless sword light flowing over his tall, upright figure, as radiant as a blazing sun.
His presence was so terrifying that heaven and earth trembled. The mountains and rivers swayed on all sides.
Everyone watched in horror, their hearts jumping with fright. Even the mighty Heavenly Monarchs felt intense pressure bearing down on them, let alone the others.
No one wasted any time on conversation. Su Yi had already blurred into a beam of light, and he was charging at Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang.
“Activate!” Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang bellowed, then took out a glittering golden Daoist seal. Countless mysterious electric markings arose on its surface, crackling with interweaving arcs of electricity.
As soon as it appeared, a destructive aura blanketed the entire stretch of heaven and earth.
Lightning bolts illuminated eight thousand worlds, cleansing the sorrows of the ages!
This seal was known as “Cleansing Sorrows.” It was the natal magic treasure that Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang took the most pride in, and it was this treasure that had earned him the title “The Bestower of Lightning.” He was like a ruler presiding over divine punishment.
“Die!” Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang bellowed, then circulated the full extent of his cultivation base. He poured everything he had into the Cleansing Sorrows Seal.
Kaboom!
Electric light swept outward, stinging the eyes of all who saw it. Heaven and earth were blasted to bits.
Wherever the lightning passed, it destroyed everything in its path. Nothing could stand in its way.
Su Yi didn’t retreat. Instead, he advanced, robes billowing around him as he pressed down.
Countless streaks of sword qi swept forth, clashing with the churning lightning head-on. A thunderclap resounded throughout heaven and earth, and the endless whooshing of sword qi filled the ears.
Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang staggered on his feet, his face alternating between white and green.
Su Yi took several steps back, too, his robes billowing and long hair fluttering around him. He was fighting with all his might, and he no longer hid his identity or disguised his appearance.
“It really is you, you wicked creature!” Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang’s eyes flashed like cold lightning as he bellowed and charged at Su Yi once more.
Cleansing Sorrow took to the air, scattering a boundless flood of lightning. Its offensive was tyrannical and terrifying beyond measure.
There was no denying that Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang was noticeably stronger than Heavenly Monarch Bi Hu. He fought more ferociously, too.
But Su Yi was no longer the person he’d been before. In Mount Fangchun’s ancestral grounds, he defeated twenty-eight disciples of Fangchun Mountain, then fought Lin Xun to a draw. Even then, he was strong enough to cross two realms of cultivation to defeat Heavenly Monarchs.
Then, he spent a decade in seclusion in Fangchun Mountain’s scripture repository, poring over countless tomes. In the process, he’d tempered his cultivation base to the extreme and broken into the mid-stage Silent Realm. He was just one step away from the late stage.
And that was even before taking into account his secret power of the heart. It was far more terrifying than before. Some Heavenly Sovereigns were still trying and failing to condense a Heart Soul, while he’d long since given rise to the Light of the Heart and was getting closer and closer to developing a Natal Heart Lamp.
Under the circumstances, he was confident that he could face any Heavenly Monarch beneath the heavens in battle!
Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang really was strong. He was an elite among Heavenly Monarchs, but in Su Yi’s eyes, that was the extent of it.
When Lu Yang attacked again, Su Yi no longer held back. He unleashed the full extent of his cultivation base.
Boom!
Sword light rumbled and boomed as he unleashed the full extent of his attainments in the Dao of the Sword. The power of the Divine Hunt Edict appeared within them.
It was just one slash, but it cleaved through Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang’s offensive, forcing the Cleansing Sorrows Seal back and making Lu Yang stagger on his feet, his vital energy almost thrown into disarray!
Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang looked stricken, but before he could steady himself, Su Yi attacked once more.
He slashed the air, his sword force changing suddenly as the Dao imbued within it changed. It was now full of endless sin power and an air of calamity.
This was the Nine Luminaries Edict!
The crux of the Nine Luminaries Edict lay in the Laws of Ketu and Rahu. The former presided over judgment and calamity; the latter, over bloodshed and sin.
When Su Yi fused them into his sword qi, it was like opening a gateway to sin. Bloodshed permeated the firmament, and calamitous power burst forth like floodwaters bursting through a dam!
Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang’s hair stood on end as he fought with all his might.
Nonetheless, when this slash cleaved into him, it sent him flying. Sin and calamity invaded his body, dealing massive damage.
Everyone watched in astonishment. All of them were gobsmacked.
Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang’s long hair was disheveled. He bellowed, “Don’t just stand there! Attack together!”
The other Limitless Palace experts dared not remain uninvolved. They took out their treasures and attacked without a second thought.
Everything was in chaos. The mountains and rivers were thrown into upheaval.
Were someone watching from a distance, they’d see that a thousand-mile-radiant expanse of ruins had broken and withered. The Grand Dao and all of creation collapsed.
Most unsettling of all, even after the experts of Limitless Palace joined forces, they couldn’t suppress Su Yi. On the contrary, Su Yi turned around and slaughtered them as if they were made of rotten wood!
Even Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang was reaching the limits of his endurance.
As a Heavenly Monarch, he’d spent his life in battle, fighting countless times over. He’d climbed over a mountain of corpses and waded through a sea of blood to reach his current heights. He was now a first-rate Heavenly Monarch by the standards of the Divine Wandering Continent!
But even if you’d hit him over the head, he would never have guessed that he’d find himself in such an unreasonable situation.
He’d long since realized that Su Yi had broken through, going from the Divine Wandering Realm to the Silent Realm.
Even so, there were still two full realms between them!
Historically, he could defeat Silent Realm cultivators with a snap of his fingers. They were entirely unworthy of his attention.
But now, he was completely suppressed by a Silent Realm Sword cultivator. Of course, Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang was horrified. Who wouldn’t have found this absurd?
But he had no time to give the matter any further thought. He was already injured, and a powerful sense of impending crisis made his hair stand on end. He chose to fight head-on, not daring to hesitate in the slightest.
Everyone knew that two sects in the Divine Wandering Continent were famous for their fearlessness in the face of death.
The first was the Heart-Tempering Sword House. The second was the continent’s only Heavenly Sovereign faction, Limitless Palace!
It was because of their fearlessness that no matter where the cultivators of Limitless Palace went, practically no one dared to provoke them!
It was also because of this famous fearlessness that Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang didn’t even consider trying to run away.
He refused to believe that he couldn’t at least drag a Silent Realm cultivator like Su Yi down to the grave with him!
“Activate!” bellowed Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang. Lightning surged around him, and he ignited with burning firelight. A grand, ten-thousand-foot avatar appeared reflected behind him.
His cultivation base, body, soul, and even his Laws of the Grand Dao erupted like a volcano. Then, all of that power gathered between the palms of his hands.
From a distance, it looked as if he were holding a blazing electric sun aloft. Its endless light burned the nine heavens.
The low rumbling of thunder shook even time and space.
“The Extreme Lightning Dao-Incineration Incantation!”
This was a forbidden technique that sacrificed one’s life force and Grand Dao to unleash. It might well kill the enemy, but the user would die, too. No one would use this technique unless there was truly no other option.
“Diiiiiiiie!” Lu Yang’s eyes bulged hideously. He suddenly swung his arm and was just about to unleash that blazing, electric sun when Su Yi suddenly swung his sleeve.
Within the landscape of his heart, his Heart Soul rose and took out the Contended Heart Scepter. It took on the form of the Blade of Divine Loathing.
He swung, and... Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang shuddered from head to toe, eyes wide as he let out an agonized shriek.
His heart shattered beneath Su Yi’s slash, offering no more resistance than paper.
And the destruction of the heart meant death.
Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang’s blazing electric sun had only just risen when he lost control over it, and it crashed down to earth with a boom.
The ground split on impact, then collapsed, creating a massive, seemingly endless chasm.
That terrifying, destructive power spread, destroying that distant stretch of the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House completely.
Most of the cultivators scouring the ruins had moved further away when the battle began. Even so, they felt the impact. Many of them were reduced to ash before they could even struggle.
When the dust and smoke cleared, Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang raised his head with great difficulty, looked at Su Yi, and said, “You... just what... is your true cultivation?”
“Is that really important?” asked Su Yi.
Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang froze, stunned. His eyes dimmed. It’s true. To an anomaly like him, differences in cultivation level... have never meant anything!
Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang silently caught ablaze, burning up like paper. Soon, his ashes had scattered to the wind.
Heaven and earth returned to stillness. The ground lay in ruin on all sides, the dome of heaven shattered, the air withered, and the earth caved in. These were the vestiges of battle, a silent testament to how terrifying their clash had been.
Only Wen Feng and Fei Qiu had been spared from the impact.
The two of them were still trapped on the ground, unable to move a muscle. Heavenly Monarch Shui Ni stood beside them.
This expert of the Court of the Southern Heavens had taken out a blue feather fan, which she’d used to create a massive barrier to shield Wen Feng and Fei Qiu from the aftermath.
Granny Snake stood not far away, visibly despondent, her expression as unsightly as could be.
Lian Yue stood beside her, a complicated look on her face.
The moment Su Yi and Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang began their battle, Granny Snake decisively flew through the air, intent on taking Wen Feng and Fei Qiu hostage.
Against all expectations, Heavenly Monarch Shui Ni, a fellow Heavenly Monarch of the Court of the Southern Heavens, stood in her way!
Moreover, her explanation was utterly absurd. She insisted she was doing so to make amends for her mistakes. She hoped that by doing so, she might buy Granny Snake and Lian Yue a chance at life!
Granny Snake was so angry that smoke practically billowed out of the seven apertures of her face. She longed for nothing more than to execute Heavenly Monarch Shui Ni as a traitor.
But there was nothing for it. The opportunity had already passed.
By the time Granny Snake processed the situation and was ready to try again, Su Yi and Heavenly Monarch Lu Yang were already fighting.
That was what led to the current situation.
Su Yi glanced over, instantly realized what was happening, and shot over.
Granny Snake’s whole body went taut.
But Su Yi disregarded her and said to Heavenly Monarch Shui Ni, “I’ve got to say, you really are smart.”
Heavenly Monarch Shui Ni’s beautiful face was pallid. “I just hope that what I’ve done is enough to earn the three of us mercy.”
Granny Snake roared in fury, “I don’t need his mercy! If we fight, we fight! So what if we die?”
Lian Yue sighed, her heart in turmoil. Try as she might, she couldn’t calm down, nor could she decide how to face Su Yi.
Beg for mercy? No, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
View him with hostility? No, try as she might... she couldn’t bring herself to hate Su Yi.
