Chapter 806: Chapter 390: Purgatory Spirit (Part 2)

Since these fire people reveal a human-like appearance, Li Ang found it difficult to regard them purely as monsters.

It requires a certain level of magic manipulation to transform magic flames into a humanoid outline.

Three flame spirits flew toward the Star Flower Travel Corps and stopped at a height of four to five meters above them, gesturing hand signs.

[Purgatory Spirit]

[Formed by the obsessions of people who died in the volcanic eruption disaster in the Lupus Island Country, combined with the rampaging Light of the Star Soul, creating a unique purgatory spirit body, tightly bound to the Star Soul without relief]

[Species: Undead]

[Combat Wisdom: Tier 4]

[Servant: None]

[Energy Source: Star Soul Light Fragment]

[Physical Strength: Magic Flame, Tier 5. Obsessed charred bones, Tier 5]

[Special Attack: None]

[Skills: Flame Arrow]

[Combat Power Amplification: 5%]

Indeed, as Li Ang thought, even with the support of the Light of the Star Soul, a single "Purgatory Spirit" is very weak, ranking among the lowest in Tier 5 demons.

"They should be people who died in this place." ALulu said, clasping her hands before her chest.

The crowd could see that the most agitated and lively fire spirit was the one who had first appeared before everyone, communicating with her companions while gesturing toward the Star Flower Travel Corps, pointing in a direction at the edge of the city ruins.

"This autonomy seems too agile to be merely obsessions, could it be the influence of the Light of the Star Soul?" Li Ang muttered to himself softly.

Since they are not living beings, even if they want to express something, they cannot speak and can only communicate among themselves using a method incomprehensible to outsiders, resorting to body language with Li Ang and others.

"Are they directing us to go in that direction?" Zoe asked the Purgatory Spirit.

The lively fire spirit nodded, while the two fire spirits nearby appeared persuaded by her, agreeing for the Star Flower Travel Corps to proceed in that direction and flew together to guide the way.

The three fire spirits landed on different rooftops, waiting for everyone’s move.

"Let’s go, follow them." Zoe gently patted the neck of the Firelight, and the Salamander immediately began crawling through the ruins.

This area of city ruins was not severely damaged; some houses were dust-covered, but could barely serve as shelters with some cleaning.

Do the Purgatory Spirits preserve their consciousness from life? Is that why they do not linger in severely damaged areas, but instead stay in these ruins?

Li Ang pondered what kind of beings these spirits were, as the city’s past scenery quickly flew by, and a high hill appeared ahead.

"Wow!"

Zoe exclaimed, amazed that following the guidance of the Purgatory Spirits, one could overlook the entire city from this elevated ground.

The most striking was a flattened area of ruins crushed by immense power; even after the magma flowed and solidified, it could not conceal this trace.

At the base of the Mark of Destruction lay the toppled statue of the Goddess Hedaya.

The high hill where everyone stood had a cracked platform surrounded by remnants of offerings and presents.

"So this is where the goddess statue of Lupus Island once stood," ALulu said, surveying the surroundings.

"Did the statue fall when the Star Soul rampaged?" Dorothy wondered,

"Who else could possess such power?"

As the young girls talked, they continued searching for the fire spirits’ positions, witnessing their appearances occasionally, relying on an incomprehensible method to transport and leap.

Near the base of the statue was a collapsed divine hall, and in the opposite direction lay an upward slope where the fire spirits appeared to continue guiding the way.

By this point, the ground was no longer utterly hardened magma but rather charred land.

The Salamander climbed up the slope, and midway, everyone noticed a magma statue that was hollow in the back.

Judging by the magma outline wrapping it, it was a small, charming Beast-Earkin young girl in an escaping motion, filled with terror.

Facing in the direction of the statue, stood the three Purgatory Spirits peacefully, with a nearby ordinary residential house behind them.

As Li Ang compared maps, he suddenly realized what it meant.

"I see, from this direction, indeed the location is marked, but being on a cliff, the map lacked detailed contour lines, thus making it seem strange."

The house before them belonged to Mort’s relatives. Despite its low damage, it lay on the very edge of the massive disaster; the magma merely destroyed part of the road and garden in front, while the house seemed worn from the searing volcanic ash but was in far better condition than the situation downhill.

Li Ang looked back at the young girl magma statue, pondering whether she was related by blood to Mort as well. Perhaps she was carrying a basket shopping when she died before returning home.

"It seems, those who helped us are indeed those we are seeking out, how wonderful."

Zoe cheerfully hopped off the Salamander, approached the three Purgatory Spirits, and extended her hand: "Thank you, I’m Zoe."

Dorothy instinctively wanted to stop her but noticed that the fire spirits instead showed signs of fear, wanting to flee. They instinctively flew a distance away but found Zoe special and cautiously returned to her.

Zoe, wearing water attribute gloves, could make contact with the Purgatory Spirits without getting burned, but the thin water layer formed by internal magic on the equipment surface evaporated with a sizzling noise.

She quickly withdrew her hand, smiling at the fire spirits: "Then, is she at home? The girl who just helped us fight the Star Soul."
