Chapter 805: Chapter 390: Purgatory Spirit
"What’s that?"
Andasu’s tail flared up as she crouched low on the Fire Feathered Lizard saddle, her golden pupils narrowing to a point.
"That’s not a ghost," Li Ang told her.
"But aside from being made of firelight, it looks exactly like one!"
Andasu was still in shock, and the others were somewhat puzzled as well.
"Where does it want us to go?" Dorothy leaned forward to look in the direction indicated by the fireman.
"We’ll know if we go and see."
Zoe pulled the reins without hesitation and advanced on the Salamander.
"Let’s go."
Li Ang agreed with this view.
Having never been here before, and with limited exploration of the map, he was still far from unlocking the island’s hidden locations, and it was uncertain whether these locations were related to his two goals.
Lupus Island is a medium-large island; otherwise, it couldn’t accommodate the vast Inner Sea. Fully exploring it would take a significant amount of time. It’s better to follow the fireman, who seems most likely to lead them to their goal.
The young girl in the sky was also wrapped in firelight; she should be connected to this fireman.
The others realized this as well, and Zoe added, "That fireman must have been sent by her!"
Li Ang was noncommittal; he was more interested in the nature of this unusual entity.
When he saw the fireman, he hadn’t had time to open the panel but quickly switched to the Spiritual Horizon for a look.
To his surprise, it possessed a more complex spirituality, unlike a typical summoned creature, appearing more like a ghost.
So, in that sense, he kind of deceived Andasu.
But ordinary ghosts exist because of strong life attachments, remaining operational in their original mode after death, drawing magic power to form a shapeless spiritual body.
This fireman was much more substantial in power than an ordinary ghost, which was very unreasonable.
A spirit of obsession can only attract a limited amount of magic power. Among ghost-type entities, the stronger ones are not individual but formed by similar obsessions. Their spirits attract and merge, binding strong magic power to create formidable demons.
In ancient ruins, occasionally, one could see powerful demons formed by the condensed resentments of ancestors who died due to disasters, with Tiers even surpassing Tier Seven. The high concentration of gathered magic power could even form a pure demon’s body or armor, extremely formidable.
But the spirituality of the fireman just now was very independent, as if it belonged to an ordinary person.
This level of spirit merely forming a visible form is commendable; it shouldn’t be able to form a body of flame.
If it could project arrows outside, it means it could consciously control magic power, which is even more incompatible with a ghost formed from such a level of spirit.
So, to say the fireman is a flame ghost is inaccurate, from this perspective, Li Ang didn’t exactly lie to Andasu.
How could such an existence appear? Li Ang searched his past knowledge.
Transforming the flesh into active flames to ensure a connection with spirituality, while achieving a stability beyond that of an ordinary ghost?
If one were to do this, this state might be achieved, but who would annihilate their physical body just to transform into an ordinary flame spiritual body?
If it’s a special, unwillingly formed ghost, then an external force would have participated in its formation, on this island—
As the group continued walking, another fireman appeared ahead.
It stood at a high place as well, with an indistinct face watching this way.
The Salamander stopped, and everyone looked up, waiting for the fireman to make the next move.
But the fireman just watched, without any further action.
"Isn’t it going to guide us?" Dorothy whispered.
Li Ang squinted; at this distance, the system couldn’t lock on, but from the Spiritual Horizon, he observed that this fireman’s spirit was different from the previous one.
"It’s not the same one that brought us here."
"What? Are there more? Why did that girl summon so many of them?"
"I don’t think they’re her summoned creatures," Li Ang said.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As he spoke, sparks emerged from the roofs of nearby ruins, pathways, and windows, and firemen appeared one after another.
They soon filled the surroundings, encircling the Star Flower Travel Corps.
The flames from the firemen conveyed rising magic power fluctuations. A single one didn’t seem like much, but gathered together, the magic power fluctuation was enough to startle the young girls, even Li Ang wouldn’t underestimate its scale.
"Hey, what do you mean by this?"
Zoe warily placed her hand on the hilt of her sword. Dorothy, however, began to gather the Ocean Bubble straightforwardly.
Flames flickered as one fireman floated to a high place, waving its arms.
It seemed to say something to its kind, and the surrounding flames and magic power fluctuations suddenly diminished significantly. Many firemen glanced at Li Ang and the others, swaying their flames a few times before disappearing.
The remaining three firemen emitted crackling sounds, and in the center of the flames, something seemed to become more solid.
"Is that a skeleton?" Dorothy raised an eyebrow.
Within the burning flames, charred human skeletons of various races gathered, and their magic power fluctuations intensified again.
"That—that really is a ghost!"
Andasu, unable to cling to the floating Li Ang, could only bury her face in the saddle, her big tail wrapped around her waist, daring not to look outside.
After the firemen revealed the charred bones, they didn’t stop. The flames outside gradually calmed and transformed into a liquid texture, coalescing into the human exterior contours.
"Using flames to simulate? They even have such abilities."
