Chapter 93: 93-She Shows Up And I Lose My Mind Again
Theodore:
We had come to Gigi’s house to finalize the trip.
Then Oliver arrived in terrible condition.
The warriors were carrying him inside, and my eyes immediately found Verity.
I couldn’t understand why Verity was with Oliver.
The neckline of her brown shirt had slipped slightly lower, and I could see more of her milky, smooth breasts.
The zipper of her top in the back had her hair tangled in it.
She looked pretty disheveled as well.
The white pants she was wearing made her hips look even rounder than usual, and I felt my dick twitch inside my pants.
It felt like every time I tried to forget her, she would appear in front of me and drive me insane.
But at that moment, a completely different anger took over me when Verity admitted that she had been with Oliver.
"Why were you with him?" Jaguar questioned.
Probably because he was overly protective of Oliver.
And if Gigi felt uncomfortable or started thinking about her abusive ex while looking at Verity, she definitely wouldn’t be happy to learn that Verity had been with Oliver.
My reasons were different.
I wasn’t annoyed because I shared Jaguar’s concerns.
I had other worries.
"Actually, he was at the office today," Verity started to explain when both Ragnar and Gigi came out.
Gigi immediately rushed toward Verity.
The way she approached her, grabbed her by the arms, and started shaking her made me tense.
I watched Verity’s whole body shake.
Her cheeks started turning red, and I noticed Gigi’s fingernails digging into the skin of her arms.
I loved Gigi dearly as a friend, but watching her do that to Verity made something inside me twist.
Every time she shook her, every time she touched her, it felt like my body was preparing itself to step forward and defend Verity.
But I kept forcing myself to stay still.
Gigi wouldn’t like it.
And at that moment, her brother was lying unconscious upstairs.
I understood why she was angry.
"What did you do to him?" she screamed at Verity.
I watched Verity’s eyes widen.
Of course she looked shocked.
Let’s be honest, there was no way Verity could even harm a fly.
"Wait, Gigi."
I finally stepped forward.
I could tell Jaguar was about to do the same, but I moved first.
I reached over and gently grabbed Gigi’s arms from behind, pulling her away from Verity.
Verity immediately started rubbing the spots where Gigi’s nails had dug into her skin.
Then, in a soft and gentle voice, she replied, "I found him on the street. Somebody had beaten him up and put a trash bag over his head."
As she explained, all of us stared at each other in shock.
Gigi’s body twitched under my hold.
"What do you mean?" Ragnar stepped forward, his attention fixed on Verity.
Gigi suddenly turned around and wrapped her arms around me before burying her face against my chest.
The way she clung to me, I honestly thought she was so distraught that she didn’t even realize it was me and not Ragnar.
She kept pulling herself closer, tightening her arms around me.
And I hugged her back.
I could feel her heartbeat against me.
She was definitely worried.
Well, she told us everything that had happened, and honestly, it left all of us in shock.
Then Verity opened her bag and pulled something out.
That something was a letter.
It was covered in what Verity described as Oliver’s blood.
"Someone had tucked it into his belt," she explained as she held it out to Ragnar.
Ragnar snatched it from her hands rather rudely.
Gigi immediately pulled away from me and turned toward the letter.
I watched the color drain from her face.
"What is this?" she asked Ragnar.
He didn’t answer.
Instead, he continued opening the envelope.
The moment he pulled out the paper, I watched his face tighten.
I stepped closer and peeked over his shoulder.
There was only one sentence written on it.
This is for not protecting her.
That was all it said.
All our eyes met.
Then Verity was the one who gasped.
Our attention immediately shifted back to her.
"It’s your stalker," Verity whispered before turning to Gigi.
Her voice was low and filled with shock.
"He did it because—because of you. Because your brother didn’t protect you before."
With that, Verity buried her face in her hands.
I could practically see the realization hitting her.
This stalker was punishing everyone who had failed to protect Gigi, or anyone connected to the people who had abused her.
I watched Gigi stare at me.
Then at Ragnar.
Then at Jaguar.
Finally, she looked back at Verity.
And then her eyes rolled back.
She was about to collapse, but Jaguar reacted immediately and caught her in his arms.
Of course, Ragnar’s body twitched a little.
He had noticed how comfortably Jaguar was holding her.
Jaguar carried Gigi in his arms and laid her down on the couch.
However, she seemed half-conscious, probably because she was only dizzy rather than fully unconscious.
As soon as he laid her down, she adjusted her head against Jaguar’s thighs.
I noticed Ragnar didn’t really care.
I mean, Ragnar trusted us.
That was the thing about our relationship.
Ragnar never told us to keep our distance from Gigi or stay within certain limits around her.
He knew Gigi and we were best friends, and Ragnar wasn’t the jealous type.
Everybody knew that about him.
He was a very secure man.
He would never question his women.
He had dated a few women in the past, and not once did he suspect them or tell them not to spend time with their friends.
In fact, they always knew better.
And it was usually him who ended things.
They always knew the relationships weren’t going to last.
But with Gigi, he had told us she was different.
He had told us she would last.
And he specifically asked us to take care of her.
Still, he didn’t mind our closeness.
More than once, we had been playing with Gigi while Ragnar worked on paperwork right beisde her, and he never said a word.
That was how secure he was.
