Chapter 158: 158-Revealing My Crush

Jenna:

It was nice of Gigi to take time out of her day to spend it with me and show me around.

But the more time I spent with her, the more I realized we were completely different people. Our personalities couldn’t have been more different.

Although she was extremely nice and kind to me, it didn’t change the fact that I felt like a loser around her. She was so confident. So bold.

And then there was me, someone who hadn’t even had her first kiss.

The way Oliver had reacted kept replaying in my mind. He had laughed at me. I didn’t really care what he thought. He was practically a stranger to me.

But it made me wonder what everyone else would think about me, especially Theodore.

Did he know I was a virgin?

I knew Theodore. Everybody called him a playboy. The way Oliver had described his dating life reminded me of Theodore, and I couldn’t help comparing them.

I had noticed Oliver’s reaction to me. It was mocking, almost taunting.

Would Theodore see me the same way?

That question kept burning in my mind.

When I tasted the drink, I realized it was very bitter.

"Yeah, yours is non-alcoholic," Gigi said, taking the drink from me and sipping it herself.

"Ugh," she complained.

Then she looked at it again.

"Wait—did the server mix them up?" she asked, almost hissing in frustration.

I realized I had just taken a sip of alcohol.

I mean, I’d had beer before, but not straight vodka or anything like that.

"Why? Is there a problem?" Oliver asked his sister.

She handed him the drink.

"There’s alcohol in it. She can’t drink alcohol. She’s not allowed to," Gigi said.

The way she said it made me immediately shake my head and straighten my back.

"No, no. It’s not that I’m not allowed. I just don’t think there’s any point in it."

I didn’t want to come across as someone who constantly needed permission for every little thing she did.

"It’s the same thing. It’s alright," Gigi said, dismissing my explanation with a wave of her hand.

Once again, I felt heavily judged and annoyed.

"Oh, then I’ll get it changed. I’ll tell them we have a child with us, so we’re not allowed to drink," Oliver joked, making my breath hitch.

"Yeah, I mean, it’s crazy because the other day we were talking about going out for drinks. Ragnar, Jaguar, Theodore, and I all wanted to go. Then I suggested we should take Jenna, and they were like, ’I don’t know if she’s allowed to drink,’" Gigi said to her brother, not realizing I was listening very carefully.

I paid close attention because that meant I had missed my chance to spend some time with Theodore.

But it also made me realize that maybe everyone laughed behind my back.

"But why is that? Is it because of the grandma? I mean, isn’t she too old to be holding her hand like that? She’s never going to find a mate like that," Oliver whispered to his sister, talking about me as if I wasn’t sitting right there.

I knew they were only saying it out of concern, but it still hurt.

"Actually, I can drink a little. I mean, you guys are here to take care of me, right?"

I don’t know why, but the words just slipped out.

The way they both looked at me, and then the way Oliver immediately held the drink out to me, made my heart start thundering in my chest.

"Oliver, please don’t listen to her. If she’s going to drink, we’ll ask Lady Lucille first," Gigi scolded her brother, making him pull his hand back.

Then she turned to me with a deeply disapproving look.

"Jenna, you didn’t ask for her permission," she reminded me.

Honestly, at that moment, I felt completely humiliated.

The people around us were watching.

I was turning twenty-three fucking years old. I didn’t need permission for everything.

The fact that I couldn’t even have a little drink without them reminding me that I needed permission upset me.

Or maybe I was just trying too hard to impress Gigi.

She was really cool, and she was really close to Theodore. I figured that if I became friends with her and stayed in her good books, she might talk to Theodore about me. She might vouch for me.

I wanted to be a cool girl too.

Just like Gigi.

Just like someone Theodore looked up to.

"It’s okay, Gigi. I told you, when I’m with you, I don’t have to be afraid of drinking. I know you’ll take care of me," I said.

I watched her eyes widen. Then she placed a hand on her chest, looking genuinely happy and appreciative that I was putting my faith in her.

"Come on, I can drink a little," I said, stretching my hand out again.

This time, when Oliver handed me the drink, Gigi didn’t ask him to take it back.

I started drinking it. I didn’t like the taste, but I forced myself to swallow it.

If Gigi also started thinking we were too different, she would stop spending time with me. So I had to make myself seem more interesting.

But there was something about the drink. Maybe it was because it was my first time. I started feeling a little dizzy.

I cleared my throat a few times before reaching for Gigi’s drink.

"Ah, you’re drinking? You finished your drink already?" Gigi complained, wagging her finger at me.

"Just one sip," I insisted.

She pouted before handing it to me.

I don’t know what I was doing, but the taste slowly started growing on me. The more I drank, the freer I felt, like I was finally doing something exciting.

The siblings watched me with obvious interest, as if they were genuinely impressed.

No once had anyone ever ever looked at me like that.

So, whether it was peer pressure or me trying to impress them and fit in, I just went along with it.

I took a few more sips from her drink.

It was pure alcohol.

My throat burned, but I hid my reaction.

"Okay, now tell me. Do you have a type?" Gigi asked again.

This time, my mind was a little more at ease.

I couldn’t really lie anymore.

In a soft, gentle voice, I uttered his name.

"Theodore." I smiled.

"I like someone who’s just like Theodore," I finished.
