Chapter 157: 157-Peer Pressure

Gigi:

"Yeah. Is there a problem? I mean, actually, he’ll be driving us around. I thought that since you’re so cautious about going outside, and about your privacy and security, he’d drive us instead of the regular driver," I said casually, trying to make it sound like it was nothing important.

The way Jenna turned toward her wing, I could already tell she was thinking about going to her grandmother to ask for permission.

I wasn’t going to let her do that.

I immediately got up, walked over to her, and grabbed her hand.

"No, let’s go," I said.

I felt the reluctance in her body, but who cared?

I was going to drag her through the mud exactly the way I wanted.

I spent the day with her, trying to get her to open up a little.

She called Lady Lucille once or twice. Every time we entered a mall and walked into a store, she would step aside and keep texting.

Then, finally, a call came.

"Lady Lucille wants to speak with you," Jenna said, holding the phone out to me.

We had just left the mall and were planning to go for lunch.

I took the phone and held it to my ear.

Lady Lucille, who had made my life miserable in just a few days, now had the person she treasured most with me. And I knew she was scared.

"Wherever you take her, remember that she’s not like the rest of you. She’s very conservative. She’s very innocent. Please don’t introduce her to things she’s never done before."

The way Lady Lucille spoke made my fists clench.

What the fuck did she mean by ’the rest of you?’What were the rest of us, whores?

"Oh, don’t worry. I’m only introducing her to nice clothes, jewelry, and, of course, I’ll show you everything she buys. If you don’t like it, we’ll just return it," I said, trying to maintain the facade of being genuinely nice instead of bitter.

"Whatever. Don’t let her drink. Don’t let her go near alcohol, cigarettes, or any kind of drugs," she practically hissed from the other end.

The more she talked like that, the angrier I became.

If she thought Jenna was so special, if she believed her precious Jenna was that delicate and innocent, then why not just keep her to herself? She should lock her up at home instead of letting her out into the world for everyone to see what a gentle little princess she was.

"Yeah, don’t worry. I won’t do that. You know me," I said, forcing an innocent, reassuring tone.

"Well, I don’t know you," Lady Lucille snapped.

Even though the person she treasured most was with me, she was still talking to me like that. I began to realize she didn’t understand consequences.

Actions have consequences.

If she was going to disrespect me, the consequences would fall directly on her precious Jenna.

Then again, even if Lady Lucille had spoken to me politely, it wouldn’t have made any difference.

Jenna was going to suffer anyway.

And when she did, the consequences would be felt far and wide.

Then she hung up after giving me a few more threats and warnings.

I turned to Jenna and gave her a smile.

"Well, your grandma really takes good care of you, doesn’t she?" I said.

"There’s a little café down the road. They serve really good croissants, sandwiches, and drinks."

Just those few words were enough. Because I had immediately changed the subject, I think Jenna assumed everything was fine. Lady Lucille hadn’t demanded that she come home right away, so she relaxed a little.

We loaded all the shopping bags into the car and decided to walk for a while instead.

When we entered the bar, it wasn’t very crowded that day. Soft music was playing. The place had a very aesthetic, ’90s vibe.

We sat down and ordered a bunch of sandwiches, crinkle fries, croissants, and drinks.

My brother and I ordered alcoholic drinks, while Jenna opted for a non-alcoholic cocktail.

However, my brother had already taken care of that. By the time her drink arrived, it wasn’t completely alcohol-free.

"So, Jenna, tell me. Do you have a type?" I asked with a smile, taking a playful bite of my sandwich.

I wasn’t going to eat the whole thing. I had to take care of my figure.

Jenna, on the other hand, kept eating one sandwich after another. I had assumed she worked out because of how toned she was, but I eventually realized it was because she treated household chores like a workout, all just to please her grandmother.

I didn’t get it. If they had so many maids, why not let them do the work? Why would anyone willingly act like the housemaid just to earn someone’s praise?

"No, I’m just really shy." she responded.

"Wait. You don’t have a type? What about your last boyfriend?" Oliver asked, even though he knew very well she’d never had one.

I had already filled him in on her living situation and the fact that she was a virgin. That had definitely caught my brother’s interest. He liked having another conquest to his name, another woman’s virginity to claim.

I mean, in his mind, it was almost a blessing for those women that their first time was with the Alpha King’s son-in-law. My brother was a great man, so they were supposedly lucky that he was willing to give them his time.

"Oh, I’ve never had a boyfriend."

The moment Jenna said that, Oliver dramatically spat out his drink.

Then he placed a hand on his chest and started laughing.

"Aren’t you turning twenty-three?"

The way he asked the question, I watched embarrassment spread across her face.

"Oh, come on, Oliver. She’s never had a drink or even her first kiss, and you’re talking about a boyfriend?" I said, making sure she understood that those things made her seem far less attractive.

She looked embarrassed immediately.

To avoid any further embarrassment, she quickly took a sip of her drink. I saw her face grimace.

"It’s a little bitter," she muttered, taking another sip.

"Well, I don’t know. Every bar uses different ingredients. Some make really strong drinks," I said.

"But mine is supposed to be non-alcoholic," she said, looking at me.

I pouted at her, realizing it wasn’t going to be that easy to fool her after all.
