Chapter 89: 89. Distance
Back to where Raven, Mateo, and Levi were, the earth shook and an explosion was heard. They turned to the direction where the sound came from and they could see a smoke cloud rising into the sky. They gritted their teeth knowing nothing good will come out of a situation such as that.
They did not know who was affected but they knew who was responsible for it. Looking ahead of them, there were only two Abominations that were left to kill. They gave a silent nod to each other.
They ignored the aches and screams of their bodies at the many cuts and injuries that had been inflicted on them and charged at the Abominations to end them as quickly as they could.
Most of the warriors had stopped and taken some time out to try to recover which was useless because the cuts on their bodies were infected and no later what they did, it wouldn’t heal and will continue to corrode and spread while eating deeper into the bodies and until there was nothing left and they die.
Mateo and Levi were quick to end one of the creatures while Raven needed the help of the pack’s warriors who were barely holding on. After effort, Raven ran his flaws into the chest of the creature and pulled out its heart and the creature dropped dead.
There all shift back to their human skins with much difficulty and groaning as pain shot through them.
Standing up, they all walked behind some trees and took the pants and shirts that were meant for the guards and patrolmen.
After wearing the pants which quickly got soaked in blood, Raven had them go to the pack’s hospital to await treatment even though he knew there would be no one in there as almost everyone had gone hiding away from the attack. It was betyerbtobhavebthem there than staying around where no one will attend to them.
With his hand around his stomach, he limped his way to Mateo and Levi who did not look any better than he did. "We should go." He said they both nodded at him.
They could feel the anger from the alphas and it was good for the injured warriors. It kept them on high alert but at the same time they could understand that they are in a battle and it was very predictable what the two hot-headed alphas would do especially when so may have been lost.
"We need Lucy and Lucinda here," Levi said regretting why they did not bring either one of the. "They could have taken care of all these messy spell casters and made things easier for us.
While he was complaining, Raven’s mind drifted to Rosie. He did not know what condition she was in and could only hope that she was alright in the safe house along with Dana. He did not feel the mate bond snap but he could guarantee that she was not hurt. He tried to mind-link her but he could not reach her, he frowned at that knowing that they are only three possibilities where you couldn’t mind-link a person.
Either you have been blocked, which he crossed out because there was no way she would block him out of her mind at such a crucial time. Another is distance, when a person is far away from you, you wouldn’t be able to reach them and he could jit understand why she would be out of reach because of the distance, the safe was jit too far away for him to be unable to reach her.
And the last being death. Raven was quick to push that aside as he knew she was not dead. Their bond was still there and as strong as ever. The only possible option is the distance. Now he became worried if she had been captured and taken away. With that thought, he shifts to his beast and ran toward the pack to find his mate making Mateo and Lebu shift and run with him thinking something must have happened.
On arriving at the pack house, the outside looked like a slaughterhouse with many bodies lying around dismembered. Witches, vampires, Abominations, and even shifters who could not make it through lay lifeless on the ground in a pool of blood. He searched around the place and found Kora attending to the alpha of the Blackstorm pack, healing his wounds before moving to the next alpha.
Looking away from him, he found Lazarus and Darren standing and facing each other, they had serious expressions on their face. He saw as Julio joined them and Lazarus offers him a polite and grateful smile and shook his hand.
He then made his way to where Kora was. sensing his presence near her, Kora turned to look at him and gave a nod to him. She looked at the alphas whom she just finished attending to, he agreed with her with a grateful and respectful smile before leaving and walking to join the other alphas.
Seeing the deep cuts on their bodies, she got to work and began healing them as fast as she could. " You seem to be in a hurry, what is the problem? Raven asked her he looked at Lazarus, he could still feel the anger in him when all was over. "Lazarus seems mad about something too." He pointed out.
I need to get to Dana as soon as possible but I can’t leave everyone here like this and Lazarus is mad because the vampire got away when he was the one who had hurt Dana the most." Kora said and briefing them on what had gone down.
"What about the people in the safe house? Are they alright?" Ravemnaskd and Kora’s hands paused. She had not thought much about that as she had been busy with the happenings around her. Now that she thought about it she doubted they were safe of the vampires had gotten Dana who was also inside the safe house with everyone else.
"I am not sure she said." moving away from Raven after she had finished healing him, she moved to Mateo and stood in front of him. "I will check on them later. "
Raven gritted his teeth as he thought of the worse possible possibility where they had been taken by those vampires and witches to serve as test subjects for their spells and potions. "I will go and check." He said and stood up. Kora didn’t stop him or protest. Someone had to go and do and it was not a bad choice to do so. And she could see that he was worried for his mate.
