Chapter 78: 78. Leaving home
Time passed and soon the sun was setting. The sky was painted in an orange and purple hue, giving a reminder that she was to attend her birthday party which she wasn’t even interested in.
After they learned of her and Darren being mates, they have become even more eager and looking forward to the party which she could understand. They were only trying to spend more time with her knowing they wouldn’t be having her around like before anymore and she was going to miss them too.
"How does it feel to have your mate with you?" Kota hears Meiku’s voice from behind her. She turned her head and saw her friend standing four steps away from her. "So? How does it feel?"
Emily had grown into a beautiful wolf. Her furry blonde hair was in a pac ponytail atop her head. She had on a pair of leggings and a crop top. Emily came and sat on the swing beside the one which Kora was on.
"I don’t know how to explain it," Kora said looking at the setting sun. It reminded me of the time Darren had given her the necklace with the snowflake pendant.
"Are you happy that it is him?" Emily knew how fond of him Kora was. She has never imagined the Alpha Supreme being her best friend’s mate with the age difference between them.
"Yes, I am," Kora answered. "He is someone I know, not a stranger."
"If you are happy, I am happy for you too," Emily said with a smile. "I wish I could go with you." She said and Kora turned to look at her. "Why?" Kora asked.
"I want to go out there too, I want to see what it is like outside of the Blood Moon pack. To experience life in different places. What life can offer to you outside, shut out your parent’s breathing over your neck." Emily said, there was curiosity in her eyes.
"What the world has to offer are humans, vampires and Spell casters who want to hunt you down and not to mention, rogues who seem angry with everyone else." Kora deadpanned.
Emily smoked at her friend knowing her friend’s nature, she had gotten used to having replies that it no longer hurt her feelings each time Kora smashed her hopes to pieces like that. Unlike every other person who will encourage you telling you how possibilities, you will get outside due, Kora and Beta Raven were the only ones who will throw the bitter truth on your face without sugarcoating their words. Though harsh, it was the truth and everyone needed a person or two who would always tell and remind you of the negative.
"I know, that’s why I want to go with you," Emily replied. "And besides, my mate could be out there, won’t find him if I don’t go out there to where he is."
"True," Kora said with a nod. " Have you told your mum? Or anyone else about this?"
"No, I will tell them tonight. After the party." Emily replied. She pushed herself on the swing slowly. "I am sure they won’t agree to it, but it won’t stop me."
"I am your big excuse to leave home?" Kora asked. "They will not agree to it because you are coming with me. They know that I am always a target for attack and you will be dragged in if you come with me." She said with a frown.
"You are also the most capable when it comes to dealing with them, so who better notch me better than you?" Emily countered. "I’d rather go with you than with anyone else. And also the fights would be a way of training away from the pyramid grounds."
"Only you would think of an attack as training, Emilu," Kora said to her friends who only smiled at her.
"It is almost time for your party, will you be there?" Emily asked Kora. "I baked your cake. If you are there, at least taste it and tell me whether you like it."
"Or not," Kora said.
In"Whether I like it or Not. That is what the bass should have said." Kora said and liked her and pouted her mouth. "It sounded like I am not to say anything if I don’t like it."
Emily did not know what to say to her words. Couldn’t she just let it be? Though Emily in her mind. "Are you going to tell me that I am a terrible baker?"
"If you are, I will tell you," Kora replied and Emily pouted.
While they were just talking outside, inside the packhouse, Dana sat on the couch giving instructions on how things should be arranged, where to place what and how it should be placed.
"You should take some rest, Dana," Rosie said walking over to where Dana was seated. "I will take care of it from here on."
"I am fine, Rosie, there is no need for that," Dana said looking around the place. "They won’t even let me stand up and help, I might as well just sit and tell them what to do."
Rosie chuckled, "If you say so, Luna."
"Help make sure Kora is ready," Dana said to Rosie. "I want her to look her best for tonight." Rosie walked off to look for Kora.
found her and Emily together on the swing at the far side of the pack house. "Kora," Rosie called, drawing the girls’ attention. "There you are, Luna wants you to get ready,’’ Rosie said and Kora looked at her with an expressionless face. "She wants me to doll you up for later."
"Not interested." Kora declined outright.
"Of course, she will." Emily agreed.
"I said, " No." Kora refused. "I don’t see the point of it."
"Don’t want your mate to see you all dolled up just for him? He’ll love it." Emily said, giving her a bright smile. Kora didn’t know how to refuse her after saying that. She wanted him to see her dolled up too, somewhere deep down inside of her, she wanted to know what he would say. "I think she agreed now," Emily said after some time had passed and Kora hadn’t refused.
"Indeed, I think so too." Rosie agreed.
