Chapter 72: 72. Beautiful and sweet
Kora opened her eyes and found herself lying on the bed in her room with Dana sitting beside the bed holding her left hand and drawing small circles on it. She blinked a couple of times to adjust her eyesight.
Feeling the movements of her hand, Dana sat up straight, "Kora?" She looked at the girl, relief washed over her face, seeing Kora awakened. "I’ll get the healer," Dana said, rising and walking out of the room to get the healer.
Blinked at her not knowing what she was fussing about. She felt fine and there was nothing wrong with that would need the attention of a healer. After a minute had passed, Dana returned with the healer inside the room. But they were not alone, along with them were Lazarus and Darren who had stepped inside the room while Ezra and Levi stood outside the door.
Kora’s head snapped to look at one person who had just entered the room. His scent of dark chocolate has become so strong that she nearly got up and ran into his arms and he looked even more handsome now than he did before in her eyes. Kora felt something jumping inside her head claiming Darren as its mate and frowned. Why was there a voice in her head? All that she wanted was to run into Darren’s arms, but she held herself back k Ewing that her Alpha and Luna were also in the room. Her eyes moved from Darren to Dana and then back to Darren before looking at Lazarus.
"How is she?" Dana asked the healer who was now attending to Kora.
"She is fine now, Luna." the pack’s healer answered. She stood upright and turned to face Dana, "All she needed was to read and everything would be fine. She is now."
"Alright, you can leave," Dana said and the healer bowed her head to Dana and then ri Lazarus. Walking a step away from them she bowed to Darren who stood there with his hands in his pockets before leaving the room.
"How are you, Kora?" Lazarus asked, he walked to where Dana stood and stood next to her.
"I am fine," Kora said, her voice coming out as a whisper. She sat on the bed leaning on the headrest. She still didn’t know why they were so worried about her. She darted to Darren who had had his eyes on her ever since he walked into the room. Their gaze locked for a brief moment before she broke it with difficulty. "Why are you so worried about me?"
Lazarus had caught her gaze longer on Darren who was behind them. He was impressed by her self-control. For someone who had just shifted and seen her mate for the first time after the bond has been formed, she was holding herself back and he wondered if she was not happy with it. He rushed it off knowing how fond she was of Darren. She just held herself back because they had company. Lazarus gave a glance at Darren and saw a disapproving frown on his face and smirked inwardly.
"You have been unconscious last night, Kora," Dana said. She caressed Kora’s cheek with her hand. "We worried because we thought yourbahuft didn’t go well."
Her first shift? When did that happen? Kora asked herself momentarily forgetting about the pull towards Darren. Seeing the shock on her face, Dana explained, "You shifted at midnight,"
"I... I..." Kira didn’t know what to say or how to react to that information. Her eyes darted to Darren again before looking back at Dana and Lazarus.
Just when Dana wanted to speak again, Lazarus stopped her, "We are glad that you are fine and alright." He said and looked at Darren who hadn’t said a word since entering the room. "We’ll leave the two of you to talk now." He took Dana’s hand to lead her out of the room. Kora opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. "It’s fine, Kora," he said and she nodded her head.
Dana went forward and gave her a hug which she did not return. Squeezing her a bit, she released her and left after caressing her cheek.
Ezra and Levi wanted to enter but Lazarus stopped, "Give them some space. She just woke up." He said and closed the door in their faces.
Inside the room, Kora’s expression which had been stoic the whole time changed. She looked at the man standing in her room, trying to understand what was happening. First, she had a beast now, second, she had found her mate and her beast had confirmed it. And third but least, Darren, the Alpha supreme was her mate!
As a shifter, it was natural that she understand what was going on and she did but she found it unbelievable. She looked at Darrem who was looking at her as if waiting for her to say something. She opened her and only one word came out, claiming him. "Mate."
Darren smiled and walked over to her slowly. He reached the side where she was and stops. "Mate." He confirmed it. Stretching his hand, he touched her cheek, and parks rushed through their bodies at the skin-to-skin contact. Kora closed her eyes and leaned into his hand relishing the sparks and the feel of being touched by him. Her mate. "I have been waiting for this day," Darren said. "I am glad that it is you, who are mine." He climbs onto the bed in a kneeling position. Hiskegs on her sides.
Kora opened her eyes and looked at him, there was a spark in those eyes as she looked at him. She smiled at his words and a small blush crept on her face upon seeing their proximity. Lifting her with his finger, he looked into her eyes and, "I want to kiss you." Without waiting for an answer, he leans forward and his lips met hers. Kora closed her again allowing him to do what he wanted. He kisses her, sucking on her lower lip. "You are beautiful." He said against her lips. "And sweet."
