Chapter 62: 62. Bleak life

Rosie woke up the next morning feeling the warm ray of the sun that peeked through the open curtains of the window on her face. Opening her eyes, she looked around the room and sporting a man sitting on the couch. His mind went blank not knowing they were someone in her bedroom. Alarmed, she stood up abruptly thinking he was there to harm her.

"Good morning, mate," Raven said, standing up and walking towards her. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Hearing the word ’mate’, the memories of the night came back to her and she looked at him wide-eyed. She thought it was a dream which she had but as it turns out, none of them were. She didn’t doubt the part where her father came home and nothing changed from what he always did but she doubted where he has gone to jail. While the rest of it, she had considered a dream.

"Mor... morning, Raven?" she said, not sure how to address him. Raven gave a soft chuckle upon hearing the uncertainty in her voice when she called his name and the small growth on her face.

Raven took in the woman before him with a tender gaze. He finally understood why even Lazarus was so gentle when it came to his mate. There was something unexplainable about being around your mate that makes you want to hold her tightly and not let her out of your sight to keep her away from the eyes of others, Just to keep her in your embrace away from harm, something that makes an already possessing creature even more possessive.

He looked at her and all he wants to do is to protect her, even from himself if that was even possible. To make her the happiest woman in the world. He had watched her sleep and she looked less than an angel. A fragile and vulnerable one. But she was all that he wanted and he was more than happy that he had found her.

The thought took him back to Kora, he couldn’t help but be grateful to that bratty, and annoying little girl.

"How was your sleep, peaceful?"

He asked now standing in front of her. He was his hand to smooth her disheveled hair with one hand on her waist which, she made no effort to get away from.

"Yes, it was," Rosie said with a bit of her head. "What about you?" she asks, it was only right that she should ask him too.

"It was good," He said. It became silent between them. Rosie didn’t know what to say to him and felt awkward, while he didn’t mind the silence and just took his time to look at her warmly. "Will you come with me?" He asked all of a sudden. Rosie blinked at him and tilted her head to the side, confused and not knowing where she was asking her to go with him. "To the pack, will you come with me?"

"The pack?" The same din surprise. "you live in a pack?"

"Yes, and everyone would love to meet you," Raven replied with a smile on his lips. "Especially my alpha, he practically told me to bring you back."

"Really?" She asked in doubt. She wondered what it would be like, how it will feel to belong to a pack. Raven nodes and she smiles brightly at him without saying a word.

"So? Will you come with me to the pack?" Raven asked, gently caressing her cheek which he noticed was not swollen anymore.

"Okay, I will come." She said with a smile. She wanted to see what a werewolf pack looks like.

"Get ready so we can leave," Raven said, happy that she had agreed to go with him. He thought he would be staying longer but she made it easier for him by accepting to go with him so easily. "I will want to for you downstairs."

Some minutes later, Raven and Rosie were sitting in the car driving and heading towards the Blood Moon pack. Rosie had a curious look in her eyes as they drove. The closer that got the more curious she was to see a real-life pack of werewolves.

"Ahm... What is the name of your pack?" She asked, looking at his side profile, eagerly waiting for an answer.

"It’s called the Blood Moon Pack," Raven replied and glanced at her before looking back at the road.

"Is it far?" She asked. She is a Chapter person. Raven noted to himself.

"It is closer than you think." He said. His answer only seems to pique more of her interest. "You’ll see when we get there."

Rosie pouted but nodded her head. It was indeed okay to wait a little longer to build the suspense. She thought to herself.

After driving for some hours, the car drives to the border of the Shadow Moon Pack. Warriors who were stationed at the border came forward for a check-up. Upon seeing that it was their beta, he bowed his head. He was about to speak when he noticed a woman in the car, a human. He closes his mouth and mind-linked him, ’Welcome back, beta Raven.’

’How was everything last night?’ Raven asked through the link. The warrior went silent and Raven knew something must have happened while he was away. "I asked a question," Raven said, not bothering to use the link again.

The warrior was startled, he glanced at the woman inside the car before looking back at Raven, "Some rogues got past us yesterday." He said Raven glared at him scaring the poor Warrior.

Not speaking to him anymore, Raven drove past him into the pack.

"What was that about?" Rosie asked. Raven looked at her as if asking her to elaborate. "You said you asked him a question, but you did speak at all until that time."

"We were talking through a mind link," Raven answered. Seeing her give him a look he spoke, "Shifters can speak into each other’s heads without traveling to open their mouths." He explained.

"That is cool." She said, finally understanding what had transpired. "Until yesterday, my life was... I feel like it was bleak, but now, I am learning about all this," She said and looked at Raven who had his eyes on her. "How wonderful it would be to be able to talk without opening your mouth."

"You will be able to do that too," Raven said to her.
