Chapter 157: 157. Missing 2
At the Shadow Moon pack,
["Alpha,"] Darren was about to leave his office when he received a mind link from the warrior who was put incharge in the absence of Mateo and Levi to take over the pack’s security.
He frowned because he knew it was not good news he would be receiving from the link. ["What happened?"]
["We..." He hesitated, "We can’t find or reach Beta Mateo...."]
["What?"] Darren interjected before he could say more. ["How did you lose a grown man, he is not a child."] He yelled at the warrior through the link.
["Witches were in play, Alpha."] Hue saud but Dareen cut the link without hearing the rest of the story.
He took a deep breath and then linked Kora. [" My Love, I will leave you in charge for a little while, is that okay by you?"] He asked in a calm vo8ce that gave no trace of the annoyance he displayed when linking the warrior.
["Where are you going?"] Kora asked. Thus was the first time he had asked something like this of her. It hasn’t been long since they lived together as Alpha and Luna, but he never leaves the pack unless it was something of utmost importance and comes back as soon as he was done, never has he asked her to watch over the pack. This only meant that he would take some time where he was going and she wanted to know. ["What happened?"] She asked again when he took a bit too long to answer her question.
["Can I tell you when I am sure of it?"] He asked because he did not know how to answer her question right now. He didn’t hear the rest of what the warrior was reporting before cutting the link. ["Until then please watch over the pack for me."]
["Okay, be careful."]
["I will,"] He replied to her. ["Leo and Logann will be here to assist you."] The link ended and he stood up. He opened the window and jumped out shifting midair. He ran out of the pack heading to where Mateobwen5 before his disappearance at full speed and arrived there in no time.
Feeling His presence, the warriors stepped out to greet him. He shifted back and stared at the temporary head of the warrior. "Explain," He ordered. He snffed tye air around trying to pick up whatever remnant of Mateo’s scent that was lwlwft behind but there was nothing.
"Beta Mateo arrived here about an hour ago and immediately after his arrival, we were ambushed by the Abominations and the spell casters came in shortly after that. Not long after that, they all left and Beta Mateo was not seen as well." He spoke as quickly as he would.
Darren growled out of frustration. He couldn’t blame because any one could tell that it was Mareo whom they had come for and left after getting their hands on him. "Spread out and find him, they couldnt have gone too far." He said. "Get mena phone,"
The heas warrior immediately pulled ou5 a phone and gave it to him,hebtype in a number and made a call. "Come to me." He said and disconnected it. "Go now." He said to the shifters who were still standing around.
"Yes, Alpha." They all said and left to search for the Beta.
A moment later, Lucy appeared in front of Darren and biwed hee head. "You called, Alpha." She said and he nodded.
"Find Mateo, I cant pick up his scent." He said. It was weird thuat he could not puck up a scent when he could do that even when a person was gone for hours, but this was different and worrysome.
"I am on it." She saud ajd drew a circle on the ground, she places her palm on and chanted some incoherent words. Whute lights emitted from thw circle and hee eyws webt blank for a moment befirw she blinked and theu cleared returning back to their color. "I found him Alpha." she informed. The on the circle changed shape and became a thin line that created a straught path that led far into the woods. "If we follow the line, we will get to him."
"Lets go," He said and he startes walking in the direction pointed out by the light. "Call them back." Lucy followed him, walking beside him while everyone else fell behind.
After walking for more than fifteen minutes and theu were yet to reach the end of the line, "I will shift and carry you." He said to Lucy and she nodded. After shifting, theu all ran still following the line. Darren waa the first to get to the end of line because he was the fastest among them all.
Is this it?" He asjed after shifting back and placing Lucy on the ground.
"Yes, Alpha."
The place they were looking was an old and shaby looking cabin, parts of it had fallen leaving only the unside ajd the woods that were used as pillars. They could see some light coming from inside followed by a growl that theu recognised to be ruhat of Mateo’s beast, then, there was another that was also familiar but they couod not recognise who it was.
Not waiting hear and see anymore, Darren and Lucy went in. The moment the was oushed knocked down, there was no one but Mateo and Ezra inside lying on the ground, both half shifted. Droplets of blood could he seen on tuebdurty floor ajs on their bodies.
If they didnt hear more voices in there before, they would have thought something elsewas going in here. The warriors that were following them behind finally arrived and the scrunched their noses ajd thise in their beast form rub thueir snouts on the fur of the arms because of the stench inside.
"Call Alpha Lazarus right now." Darren commanded and then he looked at Lucy, "You know what to do."
Lucy walked iver to the two in the ground to check their pulse but theu growl at her. Wuth thatx she knew theybwere atill alive and gave up checking that. Now all that was left to think of a way to approach and touch them getting clawed.
