Chapter 143: 143. I was scared
By the time the three humans arrived in the nearing city that they could find that wasn’t occupied by nonhumans, the sun was already up in the sky shining ever so brightly.
They parked the car in David’s garage and entered the house to get themselves cleaned. they had cuts and claw marks on their bodies that were still bleeding. Some of the blood had already dried up.
The first aid kit was brought and disinfectants were taken out to clean the wounds. They were shocked when they saw the state of David’s back. It had a claw mark on it but that was not what had shocked them. His back had turned dark with black blood but none of the blood flowed out like it should.
"What happened?" He asked seeing as they were staring at his back. He turned to find a mirror to see things for himself and he also froze for a moment before wearing his shirt back. He didn’t feel pain because he was but a shifter but the black magic was fused with the poison was spreading quickly.
"I am going to a hospital." He said and was ready to leave the house again.
"May I know what you will tell the doctor happened to you?" Hunter asked, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.
"Don’t you know anyone who will be of use?" David asked realizing that he was right. There was nothing he would tell a doctor and they believe him because there were no such things as shifters and vampires in real life in other people’s knowledge.
"I might know a few people, you just need to convince them," Hunter answered and he looked at Jack who had a similar scar on his lap.
"Why didn’t you let them know about this in the beginning?" David said in exasperation. It would have been much easier if they were more in numbers.
"I said you have to persuade them, did you have the proof to do that before?" Hunter asked and David remained silent. "I thought as much."
"It’s spreading," Jack said while staring at his lap. He saw it move and spread to an area where it was not there before. "Whoever they are, call them right now."

Even after the sun came up on the horizon, Kora still had her ways closed as she slept soundly in her mate’s arms. She w looked so peaceful and innocent as she slept.
While Darren just stared at his woman. He had not forgotten how broken she was a few hours ago and now that she was sound asleep, he couldn’t bring himself to wake her and he also could find himself leaving her side before she woke so wouldn’t think of anything negative, but he after what she had been through.
He stared at her face and felt a peace he owed her an answer and he was going to tell her before leaving the room and attending to any other thing. He would repeat what happens before, cupping her face in his palms, he gently kissed her lips and placed her head back on his chest the way it was before.
A few minutes later, Kora let out yawns his eyes fluttered open. The first image that came into her view was her mate who smiled at her. "Good morning love." He planted a kiss on her lips.
"Good Morning," Kora replied while snaking her hands around his waist and finding a good position for her head in his chest.
"Still want to sleep a bit more?" He asked after she slept when the sun was almost up. He would t my d if she decides to stay inside the room the whole day with the excuse me if being tired.
"I am good." She said and she say up rubbing her eyes with the back of her palm. Darren stared at her fave and his eyes trailed down to her career chest with breasts standing out as if calling to him. He could not resist the urge and started playing it.
Taking one in his mouth, his hands continued to tease her other one. "You don’t have to worry about what other people would say, You can sleep some more."
"I will be lazy if I do that," Kora replied, running her fingers through his hair. "Can you tell me what happened to you?"
Darren sat up straight and pulled her into his arms with her hack leaning in him. "Selene," He said while breathing in her scent. "She saved me."
"You met her?" Kora asked. He didn’t sound as excited as any shifter would after meeting their goddess. His words didn’t have that joy and excitement they should have not that she expected him to smile about it though.
"Yes," He replied.
" I am happy she saved you." Kora said. He agreed with her, even though he was fond of the goddess, he was grateful that she had helped him this time. He couldn’t bring himself to hate but he was still not the kind of person who looked forward to seeing her.
"I am too," Darren said. A comfortable silence Silence engulfed the as they listened to their heartbeats. The sound was soothing and very comforting. "Thank you for staying strong, My love, I know it wasn’t easy for you."
"I was scared," Kora said in a whisper like voice. She remembered how hard it felt to breath when he stopped breathing. Hiw painful it was to feel their bond snap. The excruciating pain, it was unvearable and all that she wanted to do was to get it out one at or another. "I couldn’t breath."
He jughed her tighter and she turned her face to face to face his, I don’t know heat I would have done when it was all over." She said starting into his eyes and a hand on his cheeck, their face were just inches apart and their breaths mingling, "Please don’t leave me again,"
"Never," Darren said. He held her vhin with his finger and plate a sift and affectionate kiss on her lips. "You won’t experience that again."
