Chapter 138: 138. Back to Life
Lazarus and Dana quickly made their way toward Kora after they heard what had happened to Darren. Kora was much too young to her and made a widow. Getting closer, they were not too surprised at what they saw. It was not what they had expected but it was somewhere close to it.
Tears fell from Dana’s eyes as her gaze fell on Darren who lay on the wooden bed on the small island that was created. He lay unmoving and her heart ached for Kora.
"Let’s get to her," Lazarus said and took her hand to lead her.
’This shouldn’t have happened to her." Dana said as the speed walked towards her." I wish I could do something to help."
After they walked around and past Darren, something happened that no one saw. Black smoke came out of his body and engulfed him whole. Slowly, it turned white and dispersed.
Seconds pass and became minutes. After five minutes had passed, a faint heartbeat was heard, and Lazarus picked it up and he paused in his steps. Another followed and then another until it was stable. Lazarus turned and looked at where he lay and he saw Darren open his eyes. They were as red as blood with no other colour visible in them.
He sat up and surveyed the place with his eyes. He then stared at the lava that surrounded him and he knew who was responsible for it. His heart squeezed when he thought of the pain that she had gone through to have pushed her to that such extent.
He felt the pain and agony she was going through, through the mate bond and he wanted to end it as soon as possible. He wanted to go to her and tell her that he was alive and alright. And there was nothing to worry about. To hold her in his arms and give her the comfort the much-needed comfort that was only right for her.
He stood up and stared at the lava that was still growing. And then spotted Lazarus standing not too far away while Dana had gone ahead of him.
Lazarus stared at him with unbelieving eyes. He had seen how pale he was and there was no heartbeat before, so the sight of Darren starting back at him was a shocker. He was glad and confused at the same time.
Happy that he was alive and his baby wouldn’t be alone and bearing the pain of losing a mate at a such young and tender age. And confused because there was no way to explain how Darren was alive after being confirmed dead and the bind with the many packs snapped. If he was still alive even a little, the pact bond would remain and not snap as it did.
He steps aside when he saw Darren take his lycan form and readied himself to leap over the lava that was around him. Where he stood was the closest ground compared to anywhere else si Lazarus was certain he would leap and land where he stood so he moved aside.
Darren leapt from where he stood and landed just inches away from the lava before taking a step forward to avoid being touched by it. " Where is Kora?" He asked Lazarus before sniffing the air the pick up her scent.
Lazarus looked up at the hillside where she was just below it about to burn someone. " This way." He said and started walking in that direction.

The lava flowed downhill until it git to where the three humans were. They stared at the hot liquid with deep frowns etched on their faces because there was no way that was a normal phenomenon. Lava doesn’t just erupt from the plain or a small hill.
"Is that really what I think it is?" Jack asked and jumped away. "No wonder those creatures were running." He had cuts and claw marks on his body and so did the other two men.
Some of it has turned purple and black leaving ugly scars on their pale skins. Little did they know that the claws of the Abominations were poisoned and coated in dark magic.
"How far are we now to get out of this wretched place?" David yelled at Hunter who growled at him for his incessant questioning about their whereabouts. Couldn’t he do it himself?
"We are almost out of here," Jack replied. He could tell that Hunter was annoyed with Davia for his unceasing questions and even he was also getting annoyed from having to hear those same words over and again. But he played it cool.
Hunter had taken down more creatures than any of them and he was tired and didn’t need another stress added to him but David didn’t seem to care about that or even notice it.
They all turned around and headed in the direction of their car when it came into view forgetting the creatures they had also forgotten about them and were running for their dear lives. They got into the car with Jack in the driver’s seat and Hunter next to him leaving the back seat for David.
Quickly, they drove away. Tonight was not their night. They got themselves into deep seas without testing the depths of the waters first and were lucky enough to leave without losing body parts working knowing that the worse was not yet over for them.

Kora held Dmitri around his neck with a vine, blood dripped from his neck where the vine was and slid down his pale skin. His claws were elongated as he tried to cut the vines but all of his efforts proved vain. The vines around his neck only grew tighter and he felt his neck would be severed at any moment. But what happens next proved worse than having his neck severed.
He was thrown into molten liquid not too far away landing on his feet. For the first time in centuries, the vampire cried out in agony as he felt the heat of the lava on his body.
Cillia appeared right above him and took hold of his hands before disappearing and leaving the scene and taking as many of their people as she could with her. Too many unexpected had happened that night and she had had just about enough of it.
Just then, Gaia picked up her mate’s scent, he was coming to her. She turns around and she saw him. Approaching her with Lazarus and Dana standing next to him.
She could not believe her eyes and she had to blink to make sure she was not seeing things.
