Chapter 124: 124. A human in a pack of wolves
David Spears arrived at the Blood Moon lack and was stooped by a warrior dressed in a police uniform. He sneered internally at the man whom he knew for sure was one of those things that they were trying to figure out.
"My daughter lives in this city, I am here to visit her." He said in a calm and gentle tone.
The man looked at him as if trying to remember who he was. Everyone who lives in the pack was well known, be it a human who has become one of them through the mate bond or marriage or a shifter from other packs or another creature, like the witches and vampires. But the man in front of him was fully human and he had never been to the pack before. "Who is your daughter?" the warrior asked. study David is as to remember his face.
"Rosie Spears," David said and he saw the eyes of the man in uniform police widen a bit before returning to normal.
I the warrior looked at the human from head to toe. The man before him was like someone who had just crossed into his fifties by appearance only. He had dark brown hair and eyes. With a closer look, he could see a bit of resemblance between the and the beta female of the lack and she was the only one whose family and never been to the pack before.
"Wait here, I will be right back." He said and David just gave him a curt nod and remained standing where he was. He watched as the ’police officer’ made a call on the phone little did he know that there was no call.
While the phone was on his ear, he mind linked the gamma, Ezra the pack’s gamma, the one responsible for the pack’s security and u formed him about the man who had come to see the beta’s mate claiming to be her father. Turning to look at David he asked, "What’s your name, sir?"
David smiled and answered, "David Spears."
The warrior gave a mid and looked away from giving the same name to Ezra through the link. He could hear Ezra’s frustrated voice through the luck and he thought he would be asked to not allow him in but to his surprise, he was asked to let him through.
A car came over to pick up Dcavid and drive to the pack house. upon his arrival, Rosie was already standing by the door waiting for him with Raven and Ezra next to her.
Raven did not want to leave his mate in the hands of the visitor he wished to never see again while Ezra just wanted to know what the man that was steering trouble for them looked like.
David had his mouth hanging open at the sight of the manor he was brought to. How many governors lived in manors and passed it out as a governor’s residence? He wondered. His gaze moved from the building to the people who stood there waiting to receive and at the guards behind them and knew that they were indeed people in power.
The man smiled and opened his arms for a hug which he never got nor was his smile returned. He looked at his daughter who looked even younger than when he left her if that was even possible. His eyes met with Raven and the man did not change at all just like the photo he had seen of him.
Rosie looked at her father and was surprised at how much he had aged. She knew that he would look different having spent time in prison but not as old as he looked right. She had forgotten that time now moved differently with her than with other humans because she had been marked and mated by a shifter thereby increasing her lifespan and decreasing her aging process.
She was now used to seeing people whose appearances never change and she was so shocked to see her father grow so old. She stared wide eyes at him for a moment until she received a mind-link from Raven calling for attention.
’Love.’ He called her and she snapped to look at him. ’He is still human and will age.’ Raven said knowing exactly what was going through her mind.
That was right, it has been eight years and no ordinary human would remain the same for eight years without aging. She offered him a smile before looking back at her father whose eyes had been staring at her all the time trying to see if there were any other changes in her because not aging a day even after eight years but there was nothing else besides the tattoo of a rose flower on her neck.
Feeling his gaze linger on her neck for a long time, Rosie’s hand instinctive shot to her neck where her mate’s mark was.
"Mr. Spears," Ravem called his attention. He did not like the fact that another male was looking at his mate’s neck even if he was her father.
David’s gaze shifted from Rosie’s neck to Raven’s cold black eyes that had no shine in them. "We meet again, Mr. Stones," David said with no humor in his tone telling anyone who heard that would know that he was not on good terms with the man in front of him.
"Indeed, we meet again, Mr. Spears," Raven replied with the same humorless tone.
"We started on the wrong foot," David said putting a smile on his face. He stretched his hand forward, "Why don’t we start afresh?"
Raven looked at the hand and did not move or attempt to shake it. Knowing what Raven was like, Rosie exchanged places with Ezra and gave a her small nod and shook the hand of David who still had stretched to Rosie.
They knew there was no way in hell they could get Raven to shake the hand of a man that he did not like. He was always straightforward with everything that he did pretend to and shaking the hands of those who he did not want was something that he had never done. He prefers to stare at your hand shamelessly until you grow tired and embarrassed and drop to it yourself.
"I am Ezra, a friend of Raven and Rosie," Ezra said quickly getting the human’s attention to himself. "You Must be David Spears, Rosie’s father, it is nice to finally meet you."
David frowned at the unknown man and but he was quick to replace it with a smile and shook hands with him. "It’s my pleasure. Ate at someone is hospitable here," He said looking at Rosie who had made no attempts to greet him but just stood there staring at him like he had grown a second head.
"Welcome to our humble abode," Rosie said dryly. Raven’s lips quirks up at the time she used.
"It is nice to see you too daughter." He said sweetly. The kind of tone that Rosie had only heard when she was still a child.
"Why are you here?" She cut him off.
"I only came to visit my daughter who was kind enough to not visit me even once in eight and ran off to get married without letting me know." He replied.
"I was only repaying you for how nicely you treated me for as long as I can remember." Rosie shot back and they stared at each other as if in a staring contest.
"What is going on here?" Lazadus’s voice snapped out of their stare and turned to look in the direction the voice came from.
David stared at the man who he had never seen before trying to figure out who he was but could not put the pieces together.
"Alph...., Welcome back, Sir," Raven and Ezra were quick to correct themselves before making a big mistake in the presence of an already nosy human.
Lazarus gave a curt nod and then looked at David who stared back at him. "I am David Spears," He introduced himself. "Her father."
Lazarus knew that. He didn’t need him to tell him that. "Lazarus Blackfur," Lazarus said staring at the man to see his reaction. Seeing as his eyes slightly went wide at the mention of his name he knew that he heard more than what the humans knew.
A smile that did not reach his eyes appears on the face of David but everyone else kept their blank faces. "Why didn’t we go inside?" Ezra proposed. He looked at Lazadus for approval which nodded and they all went inside.
Even Raven who wanted nothing but to kick the man out had to hold himself and go with them since Lazarus had given permission.
They walked inside while David’s eyes wandered around the yard where he saw many guards standing before and the cars driving off after Lazarus had turned to walk inside. He could just help but wonder if everyone in the city was the same or if they were aware and didn’t mind it.
He then looked at Raven and Rosie and where their hands met as they held each other.
He felt his anger grow at his daughter and his hatred for the man who had thrown him in prison without any way of getting out inky grow thicker. He did just what he was but he was going to find out one way or another and he will make sure he does not exist again. He and all of his kind even Rosie included.
She had the guts to side with a man who outs her father in jail and even married him. Someone who was not even human, to begin with.
Getting inside, a child ran up to Lazarus with a big smile on her face and greeted, "Welcome back alpha." She said very innocently. Her smile was pure and her eyes sparkling.
Every stiffened hearing that but Lazarus did not show any reaction, he bends on one knee and pats the girl’s head, and offered her a soft smile, Thank you, Amy." Receiving a pat on the head from her alpha made her happy and she jogged away. After she left, Lazarus’ mind linked with Raven to warn the others that there was a human in the pack and they should be careful.
David’s eyes narrowed when he heard her addressing the man who should be a governor as. ’Alpha’ but he kept quiet hoping that they don’t suspect anything and sat down where he was shown to sit.
