Chapter 123: 123. Hunter

Word has started to spread around the many packs of the world since the elders’ departure from the Shadow Moon pack that all should be present in a week for the marking of the Luna supreme of the shifter race.

This news did not only stop with shifter clans but had also spread beyond info ming other creatures of the day of the marking. The first ones to revive the news were the vampires and rogue shifters. Who reported it immediately to the captain, Leroy. With him was the witch Cillia.

"What do you intend to do with the news?" Cillia asked him. She sat with her legs crossed and held a cup of tea in her hand. Taking a sip from it he placed it on the deal in front of her. Leroy looked at her placing the teacup on his desk without speaking knowing that she would only do what she wanted to even if he said no. "You are going to do something, right?"

"What do you suggest, Cillia?" Leroy asked sitting upright. He entertained his fingers together with his elbows on the chair’s arms and his legs crossed. "The last encounter with the shifters was not a memorable one."

"I don’t know for you, but it was memorable to me," Cillia said. Leroy glared at her and she smirked. "Jokes aside," She said playing with one of the many rings in her fingers. "Speak to Dmitri about this and hear what he has to say." She suggested. "That way we would know if he is a coward like you." She poked at him not able to resist the urge to see a frown on his face.

"How dare you call the lord a coward? Lord Dmitri..."

"Should step out of his confinement and do something for once," Cillia said cutting the vampire off. "I am the head of my coven, yet here I am working my ass off while he stays in his self-imprisonment all this while and giving me instructions and orders through you like I am subjected to him." She was getting infuriated the more she spoke and her voice rose a few octaves with each word. "He and I and greed to work together, not him playing boss and me his lackey."

"Cillia...."

"Shut it, Leroy." Cillia snapped at him. "You either go to him and tell him to come out or I will go to him and force him to come out." She stared at him and he stared back at her. In her eyes, he could see an orange glow forming and threatening to surface and he knew she was pissed.

How she got so angry, he was not sure but right he had more than one reason to not mess with her. Besides the fact that she was of great use to them in tackling the shifters and taking them down, she was the oldest and strongest witch alive. One whose strongest element is fire element.

"I will pay him a visit myself," Cillia said and Leroy turned alarmed. "It is time I reminded him of our deal."

In the human Territory,

Jack moved briskly into the house where David was. He got inside without knocking or waiting for anyone to open the door for him. Walking inside, he found Favid sitting on a couch with a TV remote in his hand as he clsvanned through the channels with a bored look on his face.

"You look bored." Jack pointed out the obvious. David gave a fleeting glance at him before returning his focus to the TV and continuing to scroll through the channels. "Won’t you offer me a seat?"

"You walked into my house on your own without being invited or permitted, now you want me to offer you a seat? Won’t that be degrading?" David asked without looking at him.

"So I can seat then?" Though he asked, he was already seated without waiting for an answer." "I got some news that might interest you." He pulled a cigarette from his pocket and placed it between his lips. Taking out a lighter, he lights it before putting the lighter back inside his pocket.

"What is it you heard this time? David asked finally looking at him.

"There is news going around some specific kind of people about an important gathering a week from," Jack replied. He drags and puffs the smoke from the cigarette before he continued, "If I am not wrong, your little girl will be there." He said and asked, "Wanna go take a look? Maybe we can finally figure out what these creatures are."

"Where is taking place? And what is it about?" David asked. Now fully interested in what he had to say.

"You should go out more often, if you are worried about your daughter and son-in-law seeing you or knowing you back, in my opinion, they already do so there is no point wasting your time here all cooped up by yourself," Jack said only to receive a glare from David. "They said something about the Shadow Moon Pack or something like that." He said with a sigh.

"Which city or state is that?" David asked. The more he heard of these things the more felt like the world he had known all his life was fake and unreal. How did his daughter get involved with them and how did they accept her when they were against humans mowing who or what they were?

"I have no idea," Jack said as he leaned into the couch finding a comfortable place to stay with his spread wide, "For now."

"I want to be there, wherever it is they would be meeting for this grand occasion," David said, glancing at the TV which had now settled in a cartoon show before looking away not paying attention to it. He looked out through the window in thought before looking back at Jack. "I want you to help me reach out t someone."

"Who?" Jack asked, his eyes were in the screen of the TV. He turned to meet David’s gaze.

"He is an old acquaintance. Someone. Who approached me a while back." David replied. His eyes seem distant for a while as if he was trying to remember the past when he had met with the man. "Back then, he sounded like a deranged man spouting nonsense but now I know that whatever he said had some depth to it. David informed him. "His name is Hunter, you find him in any club you enter in this city.

"This is getting interesting," Jack said with a soft smile on his lips. "What about finding out the other thing? The city?"

"I will take care of it," David replied. He stood up and headed for the stairs.

"Where are you going?" Jack asked when saw him climbing the stairs.

"You were right," David said halting his steps for a moment. Jack raised an eyebrow not understanding what he was right about. "As her father, I should pay her a visit after all, we have been separated for eight years." He said with a smirk and continued climbing the stairs again.

Levi walked inside with large strides climbing the stairs and reaching the alpha’s study where Darren was. Knocked and opened the door after getting permitted to enter.

"What is it?" Darren asked without turning tbkmow who it was. He already knew even before the knock on the door through his scent that was carried in by the wind.

"You blocked the mind link last might Alpha," Levi said coming to stand in front of Darren, "I tried to reach you."

"What makes you think I will leave it open for disturbances?" Darren asked. He raised his head from the laptop in front of him to glare at Levi.

"Sorry for that Alpha," Levi said and pulled a chair to sit. "Gamma Ezra call last night to inform us of something that deserves your attention, Alpha."

"If it was so important what took you so long to get here this morning?" Darren asked. It appears he was not in a good mood this morning as he looked brooding for some reason.

"...."

Levi was tongue-tied and did not know how to answer that question without ruling him up. "What was it?" Darren asked.

Levi cleared his throat and started resting everything that Ezra had told Darren as he spoke Darren’s mood grew bitter and bitter. By the time he finished talking, Darren was glaring daggers at him as if to kill him.

"Tell me again why it took you so long to get here now?" Darren asked in a low threatening voice.

This time, Levi had his head bowed even though he did not answer. He remained that way until he heard Darren stand up from there with his phone on his ear, he walked up to the window that had its curtains pulled tongue side letting in the soft glow of the sun.

"Meet Me at the Queens Bar," Warren said soon the was a response from the other end. "Yes, the one in the human city not far from your pack, 5:00 Pm, don’t be late," Darren said and after a few seconds passed the call was disconnected.

He turned to face Levi, have words sent out to everyone Alpha and Luna out there immediately." He said and Levi stood up with a bow and left the study to handle the task.

Darren ran his hand through his hair and shut his eyes closed. He was already upset with himself for not being able to tell Kora the truth about why he left the pack in the past. He just could not find the courage to do so, he was fearful of what her reaction would be, afraid of what she would say and think of him.

It was easier to tell someone of how strangers you have killed than to tell them that you had once killed the one who loved you and you loved back. And now this issue with the humans has just popped out of nowhere.
