Chapter 121: 121. Meeting with the Elders 2
"I am your alpha’s mate, which prices that I am the only one worthy and capable of bearing that title." She said she said still looking straight into the man’s eyes.
The room plunged into a silence that no one was ready or knew how to break. Tue silence dragged in for two more minutes before someone else spoke cracking the air.
"It is wise to show some respect to your elders, child." The elder said, obviously not liking the way Kora had spoken. "The tone with which you spoke was disrespectful."
"Respected is earned not demanded," Kora said now meeting the gaze of the other elder who spoke. "I won’t respect whoever doesn’t deserve it, is rather give to the walls and stones around than to someone who would miss use it."
"Such insolence!" another said and Kora turned to look in his direction. "Are you insinuating that we are unworthy and undeserving of your respect?"
"Your words not mine," Kora said in a laid-back tone only to receive glares from all the elders in the room. "You have done nothing to earn my respect and until then do not think it will be given to just anyone, whoever earns it, gets it."
The elders nearly growled at her but they fought for their cool and shot daggers at her with their eyes only.
"Luna Kora," One of the three elders who had seen her in the Blood Moon Pack called her name. He had seen a little of what she was like and what she did and said was typical of her character, he was among the few who did not try to kill her with their eyes. Kora turned in his direction. "Please do not be offended, respect is indeed earned and we intend to do our best to earn your respect."
As he said that the others turned to glare at him too. Wonderinhwhaynhe was ai a fraud in a little girl that he was willing to work to get her respect and approval.
"I’ll appreciate that Elder Santos, of Silver Lake pack," Kora said with less hostility in her eyes and tone.
Agatha and Williams chose to stay on the sidelines and watched what unfolds before. Just like the others, they too did not know what she was capable of in what her character and temper were like but they were both amused and amazed at how blunt she was with her remarks.
"Unlike most of us here, we have seen what you can do and know a little bit of your personality from our last visit to the Blood Moon Pack." Another elder spoke. "We understand you have high expectations of us and that you are not the type to mingle in a crowd or beat around the bushes but rather hit the nail on the head, but not everyone here is aware of that, Luna Kora," He said and Kora listened without tearing her gaze away from him. "They might take offence and I hope you won’t take it to heart and let go." He concluded.
"I know that Elder, but they should also know that I know nothing about them, we are all new acquaintances who need time to get to know each other but they were quick to call me unfit, unworthy and incapable," Kora replied and stared at the two elders who had earlier spoken before shifting her gaze to the other who wanted to roast her with their eyes. Though some of them looked away some refuse to accept defeat. "Am I the only one who needs to learn to entertain them while they don’t?"
"Being the Luna supreme, you will have more than just us to deal with, do you intend to treat everyone the same? Not showing respect to anyone unless they earn it?" The elder from the Night Walker pack asked.
"As the Luna supreme, it is a given that you and anyone else shouldn’t disrespect me yet here we are, you have not disrespected me but have also insulted my manners and qualifications," She said ad the man’s eyes widened at her words. "Tell me then, why can’t I treat all those who disrespect me the same as you?"
Levi and Mateo looked at her in awe. She handled them so well that they were left speechless. While Darren had a proud and satisfied look on his face. Hus’s mate did not disappoint in any way and rocked the show.
Even Agatha and Williams could not hide the shock that they had received from her at the moment. Who knew that they would have someone worse than their alpha to deal with as their Luna? But it was a good thing, at least she was easy to intimidate and would not back down from her beliefs.
The room was left speechless as all eyes were on the young Luna who has managed to shut them up. It was true that they had disrespected her by what they had said and she pointed it out in a way that slapped them hard across their faces that they did not know how to retaliate.
All the while Emily was silently listening and watched as Koran verbally battle with the elders who thought they could intimidate her. She was glad that Kora was the way she was because if she were to be like her, tyen she would be sweating all over from the pressure and uncertainty. Would have most likely come into play. But here was Kora, seating and glaring back at the people whuch she was rught to do because they had wronged her.
"I have heard enough from all of you." Darren said. He looked at the Elders one by one and finally at those that had questioned his mates wirthiness, "Wher you planning or picking another woman for me if your luna had said she was unworthy it there was someone else more worthy?" He asked. His voice came out in a warning tone that told them not to mess with him.
"It is time we all came to and agreement and carry out the reason for your coming. Darren said. After he said that, the room. Wentqueit again while the elder exchanged gazes with each other.
After some time, Agatha stood up to speak. She was quick to apologize the Kora for what had happened just a few minutes ago but sheisyef two different days that she thought would be good for everyone to take a turn voting. After voting, a was then chosen. The marking ceremony will take a week later.
There was and agreement between them all as they left the meeting. Some of them who lived n closer packs left for their packs while those from far away packs stayed in the oavh house to leave the next day.
Emily was all smiles as she walked next to Levi. He eyes were on Kora as they walked. She did not say anything and just smiled at her with pride and admiration in her eyes.
Everyone got into their cars and drove off frim the pack house to the alpha’s mansion r to send them off be returning to their own residence for the night.
The cars stopped short in front of the mansion and they all came down and walked inside. Inside the mansion were Leo, Logan, Sophia and the twin witches, Lucy and Lucinda sitting in the living room playing a board game.
They heads raised when the saw that they were back and stood up to show respect to the alpha and luna. "How did it go?" Sophia asked for the first time being the one to inquire about something while Lucinda was around.
"It went smoothly." Emily said walking over to Kora’s side and hugging her hand. "Kora dealt with it very well."
All eyes moved to Kora who didn’t look like she was interested in talking and them the moved back to Emiky who was ready to tell them everything they had happened.
Emily narrated everutningbtht and happened to them with much detail that they didn’t feel like they had missed much but the same time felt like they missed a lot wishing they had been inside to see the faces of the Elders.
Checking the time it was running late and almost midnight. Most of the people in the alpha’s mansion started to leave. Emily gave a hug to Kora one last time before getting from where she sat and took the hand of Levi that was stretched out for her to take and they both left. Leaving the most empty if not for the two people left inside.
"You promised me aomwtningbfir tonight mate, " Levi said and Emily blushed. Sheooked at him briefly be looking away.
"Did you think I have changed my mind?" she asked as they approached their car to leave it the houae.
"No. But I wanted to remind to have you ready." Levi said and opened the car door fir her to enter. He cupped her fave with one hands and planted a soft kiss om heeips that had her close her eyes for a moment before pulling away from her. He brushed her cheek lightly. "I can’t until we get home." he said and help her inside and closed the after her. He git in and drove in the direction of his house.
