Chapter 120: 120. Meeting with the Elders
"Did you notice anything odd about this man? David asked. He picked up the photo from the table to take a closer look at it." Do you have a photo of my daughter? One that was taken recently." He asked again.
Jack puts his hand in his pocket fishes out another photo and then hands it to him. "This is your girl. For someone in her thirties, she looks like a young woman in her twenties."
David picked up the second photo and just like Jack had said, it was as if the years had skipped her and left her the same way as she was eight years ago just like it did with the man. "Have you been able to gather any information about Moon City? That’s the city, right?"
"Yes," Jack replied. He picked up the coffee that was in front of him and took a sip from it. Hebplacethe cup down on the table and said, "That is how it is known to most of us, but I did some investigation and found it jas another only a few know about and I learned that there are other cities or towns like it, the residents in those cities might be the only ones to k is about its real name." Jack said.
"Of all you have said, you have still not mentioned its name." David pointed out with a glare.
"I asked a lot of people from the city but they told me the same name that we all know, Moon City, and it is heavily guarded and hard to enter, each time I ask about the city, I either get ignored or they have the conversation changed, beating around bushes without ever answering the question. Similar to the other cities I spoke of. I asked a child one day and it was from him that I got to know its actual name, ’The Blood Moon Pack."
"The Blood Moon pack?" David asked with a raised eyebrow, evidently doubtful of what he heard.
"I would have said he was joking if he had not said it with so much pride and innocence in his voice and he looked as if he stating something everyone already knew about. And there was also a police officer who came over and immediately took the child away as if he had said something forbidden." Jack stated. "The city is run by one man, Lazarus Blackfur, and your son-in-law over here is his right-hand man," he said looking at one of the photos that David held.
"Son-in-law?" David asked with narrowed eyes.
"Yes, they are a couple. Married." Jack said in a congratulatory tone. But Davin only gets more annoyed by the news. His daughter was a traitor. She not only stood by and watched as he was thrown into prison but also went ahead to marry the man who had thrown him there.
"What is with this Lazarus Blackfur, he was the governor of the city eight years ago, he is still the governor even now?" David asked. He remembered that name had been mentioned among the lists of governors in the country more than eight years ago, hearing it again now was nothing but a surprise.
"Yes, and he had been the governor of the city for almost twenty years now, yet no one notices this. It’s like a monarchy in there where only one family gets to rule and the others follow. And the worst part is that it is not the only city that is like that, the other cities that I said were similar to Moon City are the same."
"How do I meet her?" David asked looking at the photo of his ’good daughter’ icily. He crushed it and tucked it inside his pocket.
"I have no idea how you will do that," Jack said and gulped down his coffee." You could tell the Policemen at the border that you are her father and have come to see her." suggested without much enthusiasm.

In the Shadow Moon Pack.
The sun had gone down and the sky was painted orange and purple marking the beginning of dusk. The elders had all arrived and were seated in a large room with an oval-shaped table in the middle. Each of them sat around the table with Darren sitting at the head and Kora beside him. With them were Mateo, Levi, and Emily who sat beside her mate.
Most of the Elders directed their gazes to the two women who were the new entry into the room. Out of the visiting elders, three were already familiar with the soon-to-be Luna supreme and gamma female. They offered a smile and a bow to the pack’s Luna. While the others stared at her in scrutiny as if trying to know why her appearance was like that.
Kora matched their gaze without blinking until they looked away. If they were trying to intimidate her with their looks then they had failed because she was not moved by it.
"Greetings from all of us and from our various packs to you, Alpha Supreme." The head of the Elders, Agatha, spoke. "It was wonderful when we received the news that you found your mate, our Luna. On behalf of everyone present here I would like to congratulate you and welcome the Luna." She said and directed her gaze to Kora in the last words. "Welcome Luna, Kora, we are happy that you have come to lead us."
"Thank you," Kora said. She looked around the room filled with old people, her eyes moving from one person to another, and finally came back to settle on the woman who was talking. "I have heard a lot about you, people, it is good to finally meet you all in person." She said with her head held high and her gaze straight. Her voice was clear and held a hidden force of authority in it.
"It is our pleasure to have been heard of by the luna," Agatha said as she studied the girl that sat next to the Alpha supreme as she belonged there. Her demeanor was right and suited well for the alpha. She wondered if the girl was good enough and if she would be able to handle the weight of the responsibility that she was about to take upon her shoulder and she knew that she was not the only one who thought of that too.
But now seeing and hearing her speak without fear and locking gazes with all of them without looking away out of nervousness and fright, she had nothing to worry about.
She then looked at Emily beside Levi," And we also welcome you, gamma lady Emily, welcome to the pack," She said.
"Thank you all," Emily said with a smile and small bow to the elders. They didnt need for her speak much and did not speak again so the meeting could proceed.
"Alpha, with your permission, we will begin the meeting for the purpose of which we have all gathered." Agatha spoke seeking permission. She smile upon receiving a nod from Darren. "Thank you, Alpha."
She stood straight and began talking, introducing the people seated around th table to Kora and Emily and each one of them standing up to give a bow when his or her name was called to be introduced. When the introductions were over and everyone was seated leaving only her standing, she said, "I would like us to speak out our minds, let our thoughts known and ask the luna what we want to ask her, then we can pick and settle in a day for her marking."
Agatha sat down and the room fell unto silence with no one wanting to be the first speaker. Darren must have been quiet the whole time but his gaze was intense and his presence was a bit over bearind and hard to ignore.
After a minute has passed with no one speaking, the elder from The Night Walker Pack, Elder Fidelis, spoke drawing everyone’s attention. "I mean no disrespect Luna, but permit me to speak." He said. Kora gave him a nod while Darren maintained his glare. Shaking off the nervousneas he felt from the alpha, he asked, "I believe you know that there are much more qualified candidates out there who are more worthy of standing beside the Alpha supreme, and bearing the title of the our Luna supreme, what makes you think you have what it takes and are worthy of that title?"
The room went into pin drop silence. All eyes moved to Kora who was still quiet and her face blank. The silence in the room grew thick and louder, it was almost deafening. She kept her gaze on the man who had asked her the question and he started back at her. "The Elders awaits your answer, Luna." He said with a bit of sarcasm in his voice and he smirked.
Kora then looked at the others who were also growing impatient with her silence and then back at Elder Fidelis and smirked. The man frowned when he saw her lips pull up. Then he hears her say, "First, I don’t think there is a better candidate other than me out there, not to talk of believing so." He voice was cold and her eyes my glaring at him.
Darren smirked. It was quiet easy for her to annoy them and she did it without even speaking a word. Her words, he knew for sure would push Fidelis’ temper to the bream as it came unfiltered.
"And second, to answer your question..." She said again making the eyes and ears that were already on her even more keen.
