Chapter 113: 113. Enough hugs for a lifetime
Outside where to tie cars were marked as ready to leave, Kora’s suite cases were taken inside and placed in the back seat of Darren’s car.
"Take care of her," Lazarus said that standing next to Darren. Darren looked at them and wanted to retort but he realize that Lazarus was just talking as a concerned father and he held back his tongue.
He did not have a good relationship with his father, and there was no one with him as he grew up. Kora would have faced the same fate if Lazarus had taken her in and raised her, he made a fine warrior out of her, giving her the best protection that his pack could offer. "I will take care of her, that is a promise."
"Thank you," Lazarus said vefir leaving and walking in ye direction of Kora. Next to her was Emily. And with them were, Dana, Rosie, Scarlett and Stella who wanted to spend as much as they could get with the girls before they leave.
"Geez, we are not disappearing but moving to another lack who h is the same country, you can always come by, you know," Emily said to her mother but still hugged her anyway.
"I know but it won’t be the same as having you here," Scarlett said she tried not to think too much about it. "I will miss you, Emily,"
"I will miss you too, Mother," Emily said with her arms around her mother. She pulled away and turned to her grandmother and hugged her without speaking. The woman understood her granddaughter the most and knew what emotions were running within her.
"You go now, child, be good and always do what is right," Stella said and patter Emily’s back. Emily looked at her grandmother and smiled. "Kora will need you now more than ever, granddaughter, the cross that awaits her once she leaves here is heavy, maybe that is why you are mated to her gamma so that you can always help her and stand by her."
Emily also looked at Kora and nodded to her grandmother, "I will Grandma, Kora is my best friend," Emily said and looked at her grandmother again. "She has always been there for me, now it’s my turn to be there by her side and support her, I will play my part well.
"I am glad to hear that, dear," Stella said, her eyes still on Kora before falling on her son’s mate, Scarlett who had gone up to Korat to have a chat with her.
Where Kora stood, Scarlett walked up to her and Called, " Kora,"
Kora turned around and found her right behind her. " Aunty Scar," Kora replied, she was now standing face to face with the woman.
"Your mother would have been proud of you," Scarlett said with a small and sad smile knowing that Kora’s mother was no more.
Kora frowned at what she said. She did not know how Scarlett know about her mother unless Scarlett came from the Silver Moon pack, but why didn’t she say anything until now? "What do you mean."
"When you were little, I thought you looked familiar but I was not able to fully recognize who you looked like. As you grew older, the features of your mother, Hazel, became more prominent in your appearance and there was no reason to doubt that she was your mother." Scarlett said and Kora did not know what to say to her it how to react.
She missed her parents in the past and even now she still does. Scarletyknew who her parents were and she did not say anything about it. As if she could read Kora’s thoughts Scarlett spoke.
" She was my best friend in the Silver Moon pack, we were separated when we found our mates who did not come from the same pack, since then the distance between us grew and we spoke less until we eventually lost communication. The reason I didn’t tell you about it was because I didn’t want to add to your already bleeding wounds."
"Thank you," Kora said. Why was she thinking of her again, Kora had no idea. She guessed it was to not be disrespectful to he best friend’s mother.
’I am proud to have known you Kora, and. Maybe it was hate that made you and Emily friends." Scarlett said. Looking beyond Kora she bowed, "Alpha," she made Kora look behind her as well. "I will leave you now, take care of yourself." With that, Scarlett left leaving Kora alone with Lazarus.
"Alpha," Kora said willing to walk up to hug him. Lazarus opened his arms and wrapped them around her. "Father."
A smile appeared on Lazarus’s lips on hearing the last word that she spoke. "I will miss you, Kora." He said as he hugged her.
"I know you will," Kora replied and he chuckled at her reply. "I will miss you too." She placed her head on his chest and her hands around his waist. Kora was grateful to Lazarus and Dana who had been her parents, when she was supposed to be an orphan rogue roaming around and being a target in the wild, they gave her a home and took care of her. Loved her and protected her. They thought he was all that she needed to survive in the outside world.
"I know too, you are my daughter, so I know you will miss me," Lazarus said playfully and he could feel Kora smile as she hugged him. "Ely I know if anything goes wrong and I will be right there for you, do you understand?" Lazarus asked his tone a little stern.
"I will do that," Kora said and they pulled away from each other. "I will always call to check up on you and the pack."
"We will be expecting your calls then." Dana’s voice interrupted them. "You called him Father and all I get is Luna," she whined and. poured her lips.
"What do want me to call you?" Kora asked with a straight face which almost got Dana confused yo whether she was seriously asking her what she wants to be called or not.
"Mama, mum, mummy or mother. Any of this would do." Dana listed. "So which is it going to be?"
"Mother, I’ll go with Mother," Kora said and Dana almost squeaked in happiness. She pulled Kora into a bear hug that left Kora complaining.
"I think I have had enough hugs in a lifetime." Hearing her, Dana pulled away.
"That is enough, for now, no more hugs," Dana said with a happy smile.
Dana stood beside Lazarus as they watch Kora and Emily bid goodbye to Raven and Rosie before gwttingbintonye cars and driving off with Ezra accompanying them with two more pack warriors.
