Chapter 109: 109. Special shifters

"You didn’t have to do that," Darren said to Kora. She looked up at him and at Rosie and Raven. Rosie seemed to have calmed down as she moved closer to Raven.

"I will miss them," Kora said in a low voice. Though her words were warm, her expression was blank and her tone nonchalant.

Darrem looked at her and almost couldn’t tell whether she meant it or not but knowing her for a while now he knew she meant it, though she did not show it.

"We can always come for a visit and they can do the same," Darren said understanding her reason for saying that. Which was a good thing for him, as he had gotten the answer to his unasked question, would she go with him?

Although had told Lazarus that he will be taking her she still hadn’t said she was going with him and didn’t want to force her into moving in with him.

"I know but it won’t be the same," Kora said, her rine still casual and relaxed.

On the other side, Lazarus dismissed the pack to their various residence after he was talking to them, he walked over to where Kora and Darren stood. He offered a smile to Kora, but he turned to face Darren, and the smile disappears like it was never there. "Kora," He called her name looking in her direction.

"I know," Kora said looking back at him. She glanced at everyone whose eyes were on her. "Let’s get it over with." Lazarus gave a nod and walked ahead of them and sat down. He gestured for them all to sit and they did.

"What do want to know?" she asked.

At the vampire territory, Leroy walked towards his office and found the guards that wwrebolace outside the door frozen. One had a shocked expression while the other seemed annoyed while they remained frozen.

He walked forward and opened the door and stepped inside. He frowned and let out a growl at the person who sat on his seat. "You have the nerve to show up here after why you did?" he asked in anger.

"A wise person would know when to retreat and when to stay and fight. You are cleat not one, Captain Leroy." The woman sitting down said, looking at the vampire without remorse.

"You call me a fool when you were the one who made a fool out of me," Leroy said. He took steady steps towards the woman. "What are you doing here?"

"I believe you sent someone to find us, I am here now, shouldn’t you be glad, Leroy?"

"That’s Captain Leroy to you," Leroy said. His anger was palpable.

"Do I look like a vampire, Leroy?" The woman asked, standing up, she walked toward him and stopped a foot away from him. "I am not one of you for you to command. Neither am I bound to obey you."

"Why did you leave?" Leroy asked knowing he is getting anywhere with her at this rate.

"Finally decided to use your brain properly for once." The woman commented and all that Leroy could do now was glare at her. "The potion was useless on her." The woman said. She walked back to the seat in the same seat that was meant for the captain.

"Ho could the lotion not work? You are the oldest and most powerful witch alive, or is that all just by name." He asked with a taunt in the end.

"A fool indeed." The old witch said, replying to his taunt. Leroy’s face twisted at her words. "Tell me something, Leroy, did the wolf talk to you?" She asked.

Captain Leroy paused for a moment, remembering that wolf did speak with an actual voice and not a single left its mouth he answered, "Yes, it spoke."

"Hmm," She hummed. "That is why." The witch said. Her words made no sense to the vampire. He just stood there and stared at her waiting for them to continue but she did not.

"You say that like it makes sense." He said pulling a chair to say in front of her. "Care to explain, Cillia?"

"Tue girl is young but her wolf is old. The first of her kind." The witch Cillia said.

At the Blood Moon pack,

"Your beast can talk?!" Ezra, Levi Rosie and Emily exclaimed in surprise. While Raven and Mateo maintained their cool. Though surprised, they did not show any exaggerated expressions like the others.

"Yes," Kora answered very curtly.

"Well?" Emily asked. Kora had just given a simple ’Yes’ and that was all she said.

"Well, what?" Kora threw the question back to her. Emily pursed her lips and looked away from her.

"How is it possible that your wolf can talk?" Lazarus asked. Asking the question that everyone was expecting an answer to.

"Her name is, Gaia, and I don’t know why she talks," Kora said as they looked at her as if she was lying. "I would ask her but she is tired and asleep. Don’t forget that she just got here only to be thrown into a battlefield."

"Alright, we understand," Darren said stopping her. He held her hands and intertwined their fingers. "We can talk to Gaia when she is awake." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"This is interesting," Ezra commented and got a glare from Darren and Kora. "What? Like having a talking wolf isn’t interesting."

"Gaia said what was in that vile would hurt us, why?" Lazarus asked, moving on to the next important question. He gave a fleeting glance at Darren before looking at Kora again.

"What potion?" Raven asked with a serious tone.

"The option in there will affect special shifters, making them weak and unable to move for days. Gaia recognised it and came to your rescue as it is useless on her." Kora explained.

"You said special shifters, so why us useless on you?" Raven asked her before anyone else could.

"You finally realise I am special," Kora said with a smirk as she looked at Raven and gave a scowl and the smirk on her face only intensified. "By the way, you can say, Gaia is too special for that to hurt her."

"You said special wolves," Mateo chimed in. "We understand in the case of you, Luna and the Alpha supreme, but what we don’t understand is, how did Alpha Lazarus get on the list?"
