Chapter 108: 108. I am fine

Everyone arrived at the Blood Moon pack. The pack had been cleaned and looked as good as always. The pack members were happy to see their pack’s leaders return after spending a day away and even received news of the little alpha that was born while they were away. Though the reason for his early birth was not one to be happy about, they were glad that both the other and the pup were doing fine.

They were escorted into the pack house where most of the furniture had been replaced and the walls repainted. They made sure that there was no stain left anywhere leaving the house spotless.

After making sure that Dana was settled inside and resting, Lazarus came out to address the pack. He stood before the people who had gathered in the front yard of the pack. Many of the injured warriors had recovered and joined them while the others were still recovering.

Lazarus began by thanking the brave warriors who had stood with them in protecting the innocent ones and those who could not fight for themselves, risking their lives to keep the pack safe. He address the families of those who had lost their mates and family members.

"I know words cannot bring back our dead loved ones or remove the pain we feel inside, but I hope my words can help help you heal, help to remember that this is our home as we are one family. And I pray to the goddess that she will give us all the strength to move on and continue to live as one united pack." Lazarus said, facing the pack with a look of gloom showing the sorrow he reformer the loss of his warriors and pack members.

Unlike other members, he feels the pain of a link break each time someone does from his pack, whether the personal closer or personality relation is not, he would feel a link break as the alpha and the pain was always there. He had had to fight through the pain and distractions of several link breaks and focus on the fight that was going on and continue leading the pack. "To all those that have lost their mates or family, please, accept my condolence and know we will always be here to support one another, through thick and thin."

"He is good," Mateo commented. They were standing by the side behind where Lazarus stood, listening to him as he addressed the pack.

"He is," Ezra replied with a nod of his head. "He is in as much as they are but he can’t show it, all because he is the alpha and I doubt the pack will understand that."

"The pain of being the head," Mateo said and looked at Ezra and then at Raven who had his hand around Rosie as they listened to Lazarus. "You two are in as much as he is, but you don’t show because you have to be as strong as he is. We have all been there and will continue to be for as long as the deaths don’t cease."

"For deaths to cease," Ezra said, clicking his tongue. "That would never happen, not even in a dream, and not to mention in our world."

Darren who had heard every word that they had said looked at them without speaking. To him, there was a point in hoping for something like that to happen. As long as someone is being born into the world, an offer jas to leave for the world to remain balanced. If there was ever a moment where he had prayed. And hoped that there should be my death it was when he saw his mother’s dead body as a little boy. Buy even the praying and hopes of a child were not answered but rather crushed with the reality.

"How do you handle it?" Rosie asked. She knew that makes could feel each other’s pain but she felt nothing of such from, Raven. She looked at Raven hoping to get an answer from him. "Is it true that you are in pain right now?"

Raven looked at her them and glared at Ezra and Mateo. "I am fine," he said to her. But Rosie’s blue eyes stared at him without blinking. Raven sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "I concealed it from you."

"Why?" She asked, still looking at him without averting her gaze even for a second.

"I didn’t want you hurt," Raven said and he saw a frown on her face. Rosie felt hurt and he could feel it through the mate bond. "Rosie..." he called but he does not know what else to say.

"I am fine," Rosie said and turned around to look where Lazarus stood facing the pack.

From the side, Darren let out a light chuckle at Rosie’s answer earning a silent glare from Raven. Darren looked at him and smirked. His eyes asked, ’How does it feel to get a taste of your own medicine?’

’Rosie?’ Kora called her through the link. Rosie turned to look at her. Kora walked to where Rosie was and stood between her and Ravem and almost growled at her. She tilted her head to the side and gave him an innocent look while Raven glared daggers at her. Kora smiled sweetly and turned to face Rosie. ’He did it for you.’ Kora said, Rosie.

’What do you mean?’ Rosie asked, a small frown appeared on her face as she looked at Kora.

’The pain of pack link break is equivalent to the pain of the snapping of the mate bond, the only difference being that you aren’t mates. You feel it too as the mate of the beta but yours is considered none existent compared to what he feels or you would have felt if you were a shifter too. You would have felt it from him as part of his pain but he concealed it from you because he didn’t want to feel messed up in the head while running for your life and ensuring the safety of the others.’

Rosie listens to what she said, she looked at Raven whose eyes were on them, she looked back at Kora and smiled. The way Lora had put it made her realise just how bad it would have been if she felt like being torn while leading the pack memwbeesbout of the pack. "This is the longest you have ever spoken since I knew you," Rosie stated, still smiling at her.

"Don’t push it," Kora said and turned to return to where she was.

"Thank you," Rosie said as she watched her leave.
