Chapter 107: 107. Insecure
Kora looked at Aziel and said with a nod. "It’s a good name." She said, and Dana nodded with a smile they only got wider. Kora thought she was just extremely because it was her fiery child after so long.
"It is, isn’t it? It was my choice." Said, Dana, feeling boastful.
Emily walked over to take a look at the baby too. She tried to take the baby from Kora but was denied. For some reason, Kora did not want to let go of the baby and clutched the child in her arms. Dana chuckled from the side she did not bother talking them out of it as she knew that they would not hurt. While Kota just wanted to spend more time with him and the people around her from the Blood Moon pack as she would be leaving the pack soon and would rarely see meet with them.
From the side, Darren watched Kora with the child in her arms and a sudden desire to have one arose in his mind. He like the sight of her with a child but he knew she was still too young to think of something like that.
"When are you heading back?" Came Lazarus’ voice from his side. He turned to look at him for two seconds. "To the Shadow Moon pack," Lazarus added more to his words.
"As soon as possible," Darren replied. His gaze trained on Kora. "I will take her with me," Darren said making sure Lazarus got the idea and doesn’t try to keep Kora in the Blood Moon, away from him.
"I won’t stop her from leaving if she wants to," Lazarus said. He then looked at the women who were standing in front of them. "She is still young," Lazarus said removing the silence that they had come upon them.
"I know that," Darren replied, still not looking at Lazarus. He knew Lazarus must have caught on to what was going on in his mind.
"I just thought to remind you," Said Lazarus and gave a glance at him. "Be sure that she is ready."
"I don’t need you to tell me how to take care of her, Lazarus," Darren said and turned to face Lazarus, they stared into each other’s eyes. "I know the difference between what seems right and what is right."
"I am glad to know that," Lazarus said as they stared into each other’s eyes. "When will the ceremony take place?" Lazarus asked changing the topic of discussion.
"The elders will come and we pick a day for it. I will let you know when the day is decided." Darren said. If it was all up to him, he would have held it the same day he found her and made her his without any delay but that was not the case, according to the laws and traditions that had been laid down, he had to wait for the elders to come and talk about it and decide, which was annoying to him.
"Thank you for all of your help these few days," Lazarus said. Though he had said it before, he still thought it was right to do it again as he did not only help with his packet but also with his family.
"If you are trying to annoy me, it is working," Darren said and glared at him. He knew he had gone out of his place to help the Blood Moon pack but he did it all for his benefit. He had done it for his mate, who was still a member of the pack and was raised by the alpha and Luna. She wouldn’t be happy seeing the pack and people that she knew dying and he did not want to see her hurt. Not even in the slightest. He didn’t help because they were allies anything that sought.
"I was not trying to annoy you," Lazarus said and started walking away. He reached where the car was parked and opened the door ushering Dana inside. He turned to face Kora and reached out to take the child from her. Unwillingly, Kora gave the baby to him he placed him in Dana’s arms.
Closing the door he looked at Kora once again. "Will you join us?" He asked her, tilting his head toward the car.
"No," Kora said, curtly. She looked over her shoulder and found Darren staring at her. "I will see you at the Pack."
"Hmm, let’s meet at the pack," Lazarus said, he looked at where Darren stood and gave a nod to him. He opened the door to the driver’s seat and enter before driving away.
"We should get going too," Darren said appearing behind her. "I want to take you away from all of them as soon as I can. So let’s go and get things done with." Saying that he took her hand and led her to their car.
"Emily is coming with us," Kora said. It was only then that Darren looked behind and saw Emily following them with Kora holding her hand.
Darren stopped and frowned at Emily who felt uncomfortable under his gaze. "Levi and Mateo will be taking a different car, go with them," Darren said. He just wanted to spend more time with his mate, why was it so hard for people to understand that?
"Yes, Alpha," Emily said. She looked at Kora asking with her wyw that she should let go of her hands. She felt small under Darren’s gaze and it made her feel insecure about herself. She looked at Kora who stood tall beside him and looked like she belong there, with him at the top where people could only look up to see them. She started to wonder if she was good enough to stand beside the third in command to a man like Darren.
’You are afraid.’ Kora pointed out. She did not like that her friend who had always been carefree and cheerful, not minding the people present around her was suddenly fear-stricken. ’We will talk about another time, go to your mate, you will feel better.’ Kora let go of Emily’s hand.
Emily stood there for a minute and watched Kora leave with Darren. She had been tongue-tied when Kora pointed out to her about her fear. She was wary of Darren and the thought that she would be joining his pack soon made her even more nervous, she had heard a few stories of how he fran his pack and they were not exactly the best kind of stories.
