Chapter 2416: Chapter 2416: Their Marital Relationship Isn’t That Good
When it got dark, Jasmine Yale was the only one in the room.
Downstairs, Mrs. Connor and Mrs. Kimberley were having dinner together at a restaurant near the hospital. Though they had just met a few days ago, they were already hitting it off.
The restaurant was lively and crowded.
"Hey, Mrs. Connor, I feel that something’s not quite right with Mrs. Yale, don’t you think?"
"I was just about to mention it to you, but I was afraid you’d think I was being nosy. I feel like she’s not very happy; she hardly says a word all day. Normally, pregnant women aren’t like this, plus, she’s about to have her baby soon!"
"Exactly, becoming a mom should be such a joy, at least it was for me," said Mrs. Kimberley. "But she really doesn’t seem that happy, and she said her husband was on a business trip, yet he hasn’t called her all day."
"Yes, I also find it odd, but let’s keep it to ourselves and not expose her."
"Of course, but around childbirth, pregnant women are prone to depression. We need to pay more attention to her to ensure nothing goes wrong."
"Indeed, we should keep an eye on her. If she doesn’t have anyone to talk to, we should keep her company and talk with her, just to make sure nothing unexpected happens."
"Should we bring her some fruit tonight?"
"She doesn’t seem to be eating much, standing by the window all afternoon and not being talkative."
"Nothing major, I hope? Maybe we shouldn’t mention her husband," sighed Mrs. Kimberley. "Could it be that their marital relationship isn’t going well?"
"In these situations, there are usually several possibilities," Mrs. Connor explained expertly. "One is that the marital relationship isn’t good, but this seems unlikely because no matter how bad it is, there wouldn’t be friction during childbirth; the second is she might have an unexpected pregnancy, and the child’s father... it’s unclear; the third is that perhaps the man has a family and can’t come to see her."
Mrs. Kimberley nodded repeatedly, agreeing with Mrs. Connor’s analysis!
She took a bite of her food, her eyes darting around as she said, "When you put it that way, I feel like the third possibility is very likely."
"I don’t know; we’ll see. If it really is the third, I wouldn’t think highly of her," Mrs. Connor’s expression changed. "Women can do anything, just don’t be the other woman."
"Let’s not speculate for now. She’s not in a good mood, and it’s really quite pitiful, being all alone."
"Yes, regardless, women are at their most fragile during this time. Let’s not say anything else and just pray that she safely brings her child into the world!" Mrs. Connor said.
"Why is there still no movement from the little one in my belly? I’m so anxious; it’s been two days past the due date."
"Don’t worry, boys can be playful and might just want to stay a few more days."
"How can I not be worried? I want to go home; I don’t like the hospital," Mrs. Kimberley propped her chin, full of worry.
Her husband promptly comforted her with a few words.
The two women chatted and laughed while eating, and after their meal, they took a walk on the way back to the hospital. There was no wind, the streetlights were bright, and many people were also out walking.
Though a bit cold outside, it was still comfortable.
The sky was glittering with stars, the moonlight was beautiful, and the air was especially thin.
The shadows of the trees lay on the ground, intertwining with the moonlight, weaving a series of chaotic scenic paintings.
Tomorrow would be another sunny day.
Their husbands, afraid they would catch a cold, wouldn’t let them stroll too long and quickly took them upstairs.
