Chapter 2300: Chapter 2300: I’m Not So Desperate I’d Sleep with Any Woman

Sylvan Cheney was obviously furious, and he quickly hung up the phone to explain to Jasmine Yale: "Don’t listen to him. How the hell would he know if I’m capable or not? Is he spreading such rumors about me behind my back?"

Sylvan Cheney hadn’t anticipated this situation.

"It... it was just a joke. Don’t take it seriously."

"So you truly don’t take it seriously?" Sylvan Cheney stared at her intently, looking for her attitude.

If she took it seriously, he’d be at a loss for words.

"Me? I’m indifferent. I already have a baby." Jasmine Yale patted her belly.

"What do you mean by indifferent? How could you be indifferent about something like this? Should I go to the hospital to get proof for you?"

"..." Jasmine Yale was startled by him, "Assistant Yuvan had good intentions."

Jasmine Yale told Sylvan Cheney everything Kade Yuvan had said to her; if she didn’t, Kade would hate her.

"Damn." Sylvan Cheney cursed, "I’m not so lonely that I’d sleep with any woman I’d meet. Is Kade Yuvan really that impatient to live?"

"Don’t be so mad; I trust you, not him."

"Are you concerned about this issue and that’s why you’re hesitant to be my girlfriend?" Sylvan Cheney looked at her seriously.

"No, I’m not bothered by something like this." Jasmine Yale blushed.

"So you’re not bothered?"

"Not bothered at all."

"Would you be my girlfriend then?"

"..."

"Forget it; you’re still bothered." Sylvan Cheney’s eyes reflected a sad light; he seemed like a wounded, abandoned stray dog.

His somber gaze looked out the window, focusing on the endless road, slowly stretching out.

The fresh, bright sunlight touched his deeply defined features, and his gaze was half desolate, half hurt.

This was a very hurtful blow to a man’s pride, yet he couldn’t prove anything.

The waves seemed to roll within his chest.

"I..." Jasmine Yale cautiously said, "I’m really not bothered. Fine, I’ll agree to be your girlfriend. Don’t dwell on it, don’t be so... melancholic."

"Can I not be melancholic?" He glanced at her.

Jasmine Yale couldn’t find the words to respond.

"Never mind." He settled back into the driver’s seat and started the car.

Jasmine Yale remained silent the whole way, afraid that saying the wrong word might hurt his pride again.

The car turned into the neighborhood; Jasmine Yale sent a message to Butler Santana and then followed Sylvan Cheney out of the car, heading up the elevator.

In the apartment, Sylvan Cheney’s luggage was indeed still unpacked.

She changed into slippers and drew the curtains open: "How did you find me at the supermarket today?"

"It was simple. I heard the prices and sales sounds on your phone; I guessed you wouldn’t go far and checked the nearby supermarkets." Sylvan Cheney said, "You’re so beautiful, I spotted you in the crowd right away."

Jasmine Yale’s face flushed.

With just a few sweet words, he could coax her.

A long time ago, he had said that he could spot her in the crowd instantly.

Perhaps it was a fate that couldn’t be severed.

"Don’t use sweet talk to coax me." Jasmine Yale scoffed, "I’m not a superficial person."

"Not even allowed to tell the truth?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Go cook." Jasmine Yale said, "And don’t expect me to help pack your suitcase; I can’t. Give me your computer, I’ll work on the proposal."

"Alright." Sylvan Cheney agreed docilely.

He hung up Jasmine Yale’s coat, poured her hot tea, and brought her some snacks and treats.
