Chapter 2286: Chapter 2286: After a Long, Long Time

Sylvan Cheney bought a lot of things Jasmine Yale loves to eat.

He knew that although she wasn’t picky, she did have some preferences.

In the past, he wasn’t very attentive to life’s details, but after meeting her, whenever they dined together, he’d consciously and unconsciously pay attention to what she liked and disliked.

Over time, he had somewhat of an idea.

And this time, he bought all her favorites.

"Jasmine." He knocked on the door.

The surroundings were very quiet.

No one answered.

Sylvan Cheney felt a jolt in his heart, his expression changed slightly.

He placed the items on the ground, quickly entered the door lock password; with a "boom," the door opened!

Inside, it was dim.

Where was anyone?

In an instant, Sylvan Cheney’s mind went blank, feeling a sharp sting in his heart, as if cold water had been poured over him from head to toe, chilling him.

She had left quietly.

"Jasmine! Jasmine Yale!" Sylvan Cheney unwillingly shouted twice.

No one answered.

Everywhere was quiet.

The lights that needed to be off were off, the windows closed, even the coffee table and dining table were tidied, and the pillows on the bed were neatly arranged.

She had left.

Sylvan Cheney couldn’t stand this quiet; the silence was so profound he could hear his own breathing, bringing an inexplicable fear and unease.

Light poured in through the windows.

Inside wasn’t that dark, but too silent.

Sylvan Cheney looked dejectedly at all before him, at the complete emptiness.

He couldn’t bear it, leaned against the wall, his gaze vacant, staring at the empty apartment.

Around him, it was silent.

It was as if his heart stopped beating.

Sylvan Cheney stood silently, just standing there, motionless.

A long, long time passed.

Only then did he raise his hand, fished his phone out from his pocket.

"Jasmine." His voice was hoarse, carrying a trace of powerlessness.

Jasmine Yale had already arrived home, she put down her bag, exhausted, sitting on the bed in her bedroom: "Hmm."

"I bought you grilled beef, stone-pot veal, braised pork, yam and wood ear, steamed..."

"Oh, I’m home, thank you." Jasmine Yale interrupted him, for some reason, she didn’t want to continue listening to his list, feeling a bit uneasy in her heart.

"Are you home?" He hesitated for a moment, "It’s windy outside."

"I took one of your jackets, if you’re not in a hurry to wear it, I’ll return it in a few days."

"No worries." Sylvan Cheney closed his eyes, feeling somewhat helpless in the end.

"Then... I’ll hang up first, a bit sleepy, want to take a nap." Jasmine Yale’s voice was calm, "You didn’t sleep well last night either, remember to rest, don’t work."

"I will remember."

Jasmine Yale choked up a bit, she had thought Sylvan Cheney would ignore her or rebel, but unexpectedly, he readily agreed.

It was rare for him to respond so directly.

Though whether he’d follow through, she couldn’t know.

After hanging up, Jasmine Yale took off his jacket, changed into the pajamas he bought, and went to bed.

She played the story Sylvan Cheney previously recorded for the baby in her belly.

His voice was clear and sexy, like a spring breeze, exceptionally pleasant to listen to.

Listening, Jasmine Yale grew sleepy, yawned, and fell asleep. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

This kind of weather was best for sleeping, as if the whole world had quieted down, the skies outside were gloomy.

Dark clouds pressed against the city, the sun obscured.

Jasmine Yale had been thoroughly exhausted by Sylvan Cheney last night, within minutes she fell into a deep sleep, dreaming a long dream.
