Chapter 2285: Chapter 2285: The Unexpected Baby

"It’s getting late." Jasmine Yale pushed him away and stood up, "Maybe we both need to calm down a bit."

Sylvan Cheney grabbed her hand: "I’m already calm, I can’t be any calmer. If I get any calmer, you won’t want me anymore, right?"

Jasmine Yale’s hand was held in his palm, warm.

He held tight, not giving her a chance to resist.

"Give me a chance to take care of you; you can change your mind anytime, but you need to give me this chance." Sylvan Cheney said urgently, "I admit I’m not good with people, my emotional intelligence is low, but I can change."

"Don’t waste too much time on women. Your time is precious, and you’ve already wasted a lot." Jasmine Yale said lightly.

"It’s not called wasting time. Even if it is, I’m willing to waste it, okay?"

Jasmine Yale felt somewhat helpless, yet didn’t know what to say.

She fell silent.

For quite a while, she did not speak.

Sylvan Cheney’s sharp gaze fell on her, seemingly anticipating her answer.

"Jasmine..." Sylvan Cheney looked at her hopefully, "We won’t go out to eat, I’ll buy food for you, please wait at home, okay? There’s no food left in the fridge, I’ll buy more on another day, and I’ll cook for you."

Jasmine Yale paused, and replied lightly: "Alright, go ahead."

Sylvan Cheney’s eyes brightened, showing a glossy sheen: "What would you like to eat?"

"I’m not picky, just buy anything you want; what you like I should like too." Jasmine Yale said calmly.

Living together at the Cheney Residence for twelve years, their tastes had long been similar.

"Alright, you stay home and wait for me, I’ll go get it. The baby is hungry too, right?" Sylvan Cheney touched her belly.

He liked to touch her belly; every touch brought a mysterious, special feeling, as if he were about to become a father.

Sylvan Cheney stood up and quickly grabbed his car keys and went out.

Before leaving, he looked back at her, reluctant to part.

Outside, the sky remained gloomy, clouds pressed down over the whole city, the surrounding atmosphere felt oppressive.

The wind whistled, the windows rattled loudly.

With this kind of weather, there were few people on the streets, as it seemed it might rain at any moment.

After Sylvan Cheney went downstairs, Jasmine Yale stood by the window watching outside.

With her hands on the window sill, there was an indescribable meaning in her gaze.

The wind outside blew fiercely.

In such quiet moments, sometimes she would wonder, if it weren’t for that accident with Spencer Childe, what would her and Sylvan Cheney be like now...

Would they be together? Or already parted?

Would there be this unexpected child?

However, all these questions were impossible to guess; he had long forgotten her.

For a long time.

Jasmine Yale went to Sylvan Cheney’s closet and took a windbreaker coat.

His clothes were quite long; wearing it looked somewhat odd.

But she didn’t mind that; it was enough to keep warm.

Before Sylvan Cheney returned, she turned off the lights, closed the door, and left.

On her phone, Kade Yuvan sent her many messages, likely not wanting to disturb her, he didn’t call.

Jasmine Yale scrolled through them one by one and replied to each.

Outside the wind blew hard, occasionally leaves would be blown off, scraping against the car glass, making a harsh sound.

Outside the car, the wind raged; inside was quiet.

Jasmine Yale silently leaned against the window, occasionally looking at the dark oppressive sky outside, occasionally closing her eyes to rest.
