Chapter 2226: Chapter 2226: Talent Should Not Be Buried
Why?
Trust between people cannot be determined just by one or two encounters. Even if someone performs excellently in the written test and interview, it cannot be guaranteed that this is not just a momentary display, nor can it be determined that their character and work abilities meet the requirements of the unit they’re applying to. It’s safe to say that while academic performance is one aspect, the hiring unit more importantly wants to select people who conduct themselves well, and these qualities cannot be completely evaluated through one or two exams.
If one understands the mindset of the recruiters, it becomes clear why parents like Sun Rongfang are so anxious and worried about their children’s employment situations.
"Today’s society isn’t like the past, it’s not completely dependent on connections." Teacher Zhuang tried to ease the anxiety of the students’ parents, "It was the same when I was helping my students find jobs. The leader said, if they can get top scores in the written and interview tests, then there’s no hurry to talk about it."
"It’s not that she’s worried her daughter won’t get the top spot. I believe Yingying can get the top spot. She’s afraid that even if Yingying gets the top spot, she’d still be sidelined," Aunt Min voiced their old friend’s concern.
Sun Rongfang took a couple of sips of tea to calm her nerves, truly afraid that her daughter would face the same outcome she did years ago, where no matter how hard she worked, it was of no use.
"These days, there’s societal oversight. If the published scores seem to have elements of cheating, there will be many complaints," Teacher Zhuang added, "My leader said, currently, there’s no way to cheat in recruitment exams. If Yingying can get the top spot, I guarantee there will be absolutely no problem."
"That’s not the point. It’s that the position Yingying is looking for might not be available at this unit," Shang Siling said.
Sometimes the talent is excellent, but the problem is that the unit has no need for it. There’s a severe mismatch between units and talents in the job market. As Shang Siling initially mentioned, the entire recruitment and talent markets are not fully interconnected. That means when talent looks for job postings in the market, they may not find all available positions. Similarly, the job postings by units do not necessarily reach every potential candidate. If conditions permit, it’s necessary to help the job seeker inquire around.
Teacher Zhuang now understood and asked, "What position is Yingying looking for? I can help her ask around."
"She definitely wants to become a surgeon. That’s what she’s studying," Shang Siling replied.
"Speaking of surgeons, hospitals recruit quite a few every year," Teacher Zhuang remembered that every year hospital recruitment information includes such positions.
"She wants to get into a good hospital, one that can provide suitable development prospects for her," Aunt Min, who has interacted with Xie Wanying in the hospital, could fairly understand Xie Wanying’s true aspirations.
Teacher Zhuang suddenly realized, slapping his thigh: As expected of the science top scorer from their school back in the day, her employment demands are high; it’s not simply about not finding a job.
"Oh my," Teacher Zhuang exclaimed, "it’s been all this time, and it’s not about her not finding a job. I thought when I came here, how could it be that she can’t find a job? She’s always had great scores. You should have said so earlier."
"So, we need her to write out her job application first, so we can help her ask around internally at several hospitals to see which one is more suitable for her development," Shang Siling reiterated what her husband had said before, "She has talent, and it shouldn’t be buried."
This relationship is akin to a blind date; more inquiry and mutual understanding can eventually lead to the best match between the unit and the individual.
Everyone present agreed with Shang Siling’s statement. One by one, they were readying themselves to help.
