Chapter 482: Fight for the survival of humanity
The clash of steel and the howls of the damned tore through the veil of ashes that blanketed the province of Sol. Alexander Sulyvhan, his forearms now wielding the twin swords gifted by Loriel, felt a raw power surging through his veins. At his side, the Archangel Loriel floated a few inches above the ground, her sapphire wings vibrating at a frequency that purified the air tainted by demonic mana.
Facing them, Bathym, the Demon Prince of Fear, raised his clawed arm. In his wake, three massive silhouettes emerged from the purple mist: Archdemons, the warrior elite of the Abyss, their stature exceeding three meters. Their skins were plates of obsidian oozing sulfur, and their eyes burned with a sickly green fire.
"So, humanity has found itself a new winged mistress?" sneered Bathym, his voice echoing like a funeral knell. "Archdemons! Bring me their heads. I want the ground of this plain paved with their blood."
The three monsters charged with a speed disconcerting for their size. Sulyvhan did not retreat. He circulated his aura at full power, bracing himself for the confrontation.
"Loriel, take care of the one on the left. I’ll handle the other two," ordered Sulyvhan in a tone that allowed no rebuttal.
"Such authority, Alexander ~" replied Loriel with a wry smile. "Try not to get yourself gutted, I would hate for my gift to be ruined by mortal blood."
The Archangel launched forward, becoming a meteor of golden light. Sulyvhan, for his part, used a devastating aura pulse.

The shockwave blasted the basalt dust into a perfect circle, steadying his footing before he leaped. He closed the distance in a heartbeat.
He reached the first Archdemon. The monster brought down a mass of black iron covered in poisoned spikes. Sulyvhan, seeing the weapon’s trajectory move with pathetic slowness, pivoted his hips in a fluid motion, letting the mass sail past him as it pulverized the ground with a thunderous crash.
Sulyvhan did not waste a moment. His two blades traced a lightning arc.

The beam of silver light, amplified by the white angelic blade, cleanly severed the Archdemon’s right arm. The obsidian flesh was cut through with ease. The limb fell to the ground with a sodden thud, while a spray of black, corrosive blood splattered the Emperor’s armor. The monster let out a roar of agony, but Sulyvhan was already following through.
"You should have known your place before attacking humanity!" Sulyvhan spat.
He used the chains to spin the black blade.

Trails of residual aura hung in the air, sketching phantom blades. With a flick of his wrist, he redirected them toward the beast’s torso. The cuts were so clean that the Archdemon’s pectoral plates slid to the ground, revealing its internal organs pulsing in a fetid vapor of corrupted mana. Sulyvhan plunged his free hand into the opening and injected a pulse of pure aura directly into the monster’s heart.
The Archdemon’s chest literally exploded from within. Fragments of ribs and charred flesh were hurled several meters, spattering the human soldiers who watched the scene with awed terror.
Meanwhile, Loriel danced amid the second Archdemon’s attacks. Her spread wings sliced through the air, and each beat launched feathers of light that metamorphosed into arcane lances before piercing the monsters and demons below. These incandescent projectiles struck the Archdemon squarely, and it let out a howl of pain mingled with rage.
"You are slow, spawn of the Abyss!" Loriel called out, her voice remaining a silky murmur despite the violence shaking the surrounding cliffs. Then she added, in a tone laced with disdain: "Your hatred is so... predictable. It blinds you, and your stupidity condemns you, nothing more normal for an inferior race such as yours."
She raised her right hand toward the sky, and a column of light immediately descended from the purple vault. The incandescent ray struck her adversary square in the middle of the forehead, and its head vaporized with a hiss of sulfuric steam. The demon’s body collapsed lifeless, its limbs still twitching with nervous spasms.
However, the third Archdemon, having observed the dire fate of its two kin, decided to strike Sulyvhan by surprise. It moved silently behind him, its claws aimed at the Emperor’s nape. But Sulyvhan perceived the threat without even deigning to turn around. He used his aura mastery to exert a powerful attractive force on the demon. The Archdemon, mid-leap, was brutally yanked downward as if grabbed by an invisible hand. It crashed heavily onto the basalt, winded by the impact.
Sulyvhan then turned slowly. He placed his right foot on the creature’s horned skull, pinning it to the ground, and crossed his two katanas above its throat. He murmured:
"Tell your brothers in hell that the earth belongs to men."
Without waiting for a reply, he brought his blades down in a sharp motion. The monster’s head rolled across the black stone, its eyes still wide open, frozen in an expression of disbelief. A viscous, burning fluid leaked from the wound, sizzling upon contact with the ground.
Bathym, perched on a rocky pinnacle, had watched this carnage from the start. He saw his three best warriors fall one after another without managing to inflict any serious wound on their adversaries. A growl of pure rage then escaped his throat, so powerful it made the surrounding mountains tremble. His aura of fear, hitherto contained, suddenly unleashed itself: a palpable wave of dread flooded the plain, bending trees and cracking rocks. The human soldiers, even miles away, felt their hearts tighten and their breath shorten.
Loriel turned to Sulyvhan, a predatory smile on her lips. "Our little dark lord is starting to get annoyed."
Sulyvhan wiped his blades on the decapitated demon’s cloak. "Let him come. I will make this battle an example, my kingdom will not bow to any of these demons."
Bathym, hearing these words, flashed a cruel smile. The ground began to undulate beneath his feet, and yawning chasms opened around him, then five more Archdemons emerged but the power they radiated was several times greater than the previous ones.
