Chapter 481: The Archangel Loriel
The air had become a molasses of ashes and pulverized blood... Alexander Sulyvhan stood at the center of a circle of demonic corpses, his silhouette standing out against the blood-red horizon of the province of Sol. His long silver hair, once immaculate, was now stuck to his neck by sweat and dust, while his pupils shone with a wild intensity. His muscles, sculpted by years of relentless combat, burned from exhaustion, but his gray aura continued to pulse steadily.
Around him, the carnage was total. Sulyvhan had only two thousand elite soldiers, a derisory fraction against the black tide that swept across the plain. His most powerful generals Dantalion, Pendragon, Draken and the others were not by his side. He had sent them on a suicide mission to the Island Mist, that misty and mysterious continent, with the objective of opening the gates of paradise using the Key of Saint Peter. In their absence, the responsibility of containing the heart of the invasion rested solely on his shoulders.
Suddenly, an overwhelming metaphysical pressure fell upon the battlefield. The human soldiers froze, their hearts gripped by an unknown anguish... Amid the enemy ranks, a silhouette emerged. It was Bathym, the Demonic Prince of Fear. Enveloped in a purple mana aura that distorted reality, Bathym advanced, and wherever his feet touched the ground, the earth cracked with a groan of agony. His demons were galvanized by his presence, becoming faster, more ferocious, their jet-black claws capable of slicing through human aura like parchment.
Sulyvhan gripped the handle of his cold iron sword, feeling his energy reserves melting away. Although he was very powerful, he did not think he could stop the demon invasion. He used a control technique to repel the nearest attackers.

The shockwave hurled a dozen ghouls, but Bathym merely made a hand gesture, and a wall of darkness canceled Sulyvhan’s attack. The demonic prince let out a laugh that echoed in the mind of every combatant, a pure frequency of terror.
"You are valiant, human..." murmured Bathym in a voice that seemed to come from a thousand open tombs. "But numbers will overcome your will."
As despair began to creep into the ranks of the two thousand survivors, the red sky suddenly tore open at the zenith. A blinding white fracture appeared, and the ash clouds were swept away by a wind of absolute purity. The gates of heaven had just opened.
A column of golden light descended upon the plain, instantly vaporizing the demons in its path with hisses of fetid steam. Hundreds of winged silhouettes, dressed in light armor, descended in perfect formation. At their head was an entity whose beauty was so sharp that it became painful to look at.
Loriel, the Archangel with sapphire hair and piercing eyes, floated a few meters above the ground. Her white feather wings seemed to vibrate at a divine frequency. She ignored Bathym for the moment and fixed her gaze on the Emperor.
"I have heard a lot about you, even in paradise your name continues to echo, Emperor Alexander Sulyvhan ~..." she said in a suave voice, in an almost singing tone.
Sulyvhan did not lower his guard, his gaze remaining fixed on the archangel. ’What are the residents of the celestial city doing here?’ he thought, his senses on alert.
"You are truly interesting as a human, unlike that traitor to humanity; that is why the angels have decided to bless you," Loriel continued with an enigmatic smile.
With a fluid gesture, she made two objects appear that seemed made of the very matter of stars. She threw them toward Sulyvhan. The Emperor caught them in mid-air, immediately feeling a shockwave run through his forearms. It was a pair of double swords.
"It is a gift from the angels... With this, I am sure you can kill the demonic prince," affirmed Loriel, landing gracefully on the bloodied basalt.
Sulyvhan observed the blades. At the contact with his skin, the chains bit slightly into his flesh, pumping his aura to stabilize their own energy. He frowned, feeling that this gift carried a price he could not yet evaluate.
"I do not trust superior beings," replied Sulyvhan in a dry tone, his voice a low growl amid the clash of weapons.
Loriel let out a small crystalline laugh, approaching him until the scent of jasmine invaded his personal space. She tilted her head slightly, her locks sliding over her silver armor.
"Then let us build a relationship of trust..." she said with a smile that could have melted the heart of a god, but which only reinforced the Emperor’s mistrust.
The archangel Loriel was not there out of pure altruism. She had always had the secret mission of approaching Sulyvhan to manipulate him as she pleased... The goal of the Constellations was clear: to turn this exceptional mortal into a puppet of the angels, a weapon they could point at any enemy before breaking it once its task was accomplished. And at that time, she was following her mission to the letter, using her beauty and her power as hooks.
"So be it..." murmured Sulyvhan. "But if your intention is to harm us, I will not hesitate to point my sword at you."
Bathym, furious at being ignored like this, let out a howl that made the earth tremble. "MORTALS! CELESTIALS! YOU WILL ALL PERISH IN THE ABYSS!"
Then the two leaped into the fray, forming a striking contrast... Sulyvhan was a shadow of silver and steel, slicing through the demons with surgical precision, while Loriel was a meteor of golden light, pulverizing the monsters with simple wing beats.

Sulyvhan’s first movement, amplified by his new white blade, released a beam of lunar light so powerful that it sliced cleanly through a row of superior demons for fifty meters. Limbs flew, black blood gushed in fountains, and the silence of death followed every trail of his steel. Beside him, Loriel invoked spears of light that nailed the siege beasts to the ground.
It was the first time an archangel had fought side by side with a mortal. For the soldiers watching the scene, it was the beginning of a new era.
Sulyvhan and the archangel plunged deeper into the enemy ranks, toward the center where Bathym awaited them. The Plain of Desolation was now only a theater where the genesis of a cursed destiny was playing out.
"Do not take your eyes off me, Emperor..." murmured Loriel between two attacks, her smile never leaving her lips as she decapitated a demon with a backhand.
Sulyvhan did not respond, contenting himself with plunging his blades into the chest of an archdemon.
