Chapter 206: Ch-206: Invasion (3)

Just as all the Awakeners were about to die—

Swoosh

A blue fireball shot out from the distance and struck the undead surrounding them, reducing the entire group to ashes.

"Who?" The Awakeners looked around but could not find anyone until one of them shouted,

"Look above!"

Everyone whipped their heads toward the sky and saw an extremely handsome man and a beautiful woman hovering in the air.

The Awakeners immediately broke into an uproar.

"I do not care who they are. The fact is that I am alive because of them, and they have my eternal gratitude."

"Indeed, if they were even a second late, we would have all perished."

"Who are they? Does anyone recognize them?"

"No clue. I have never seen anyone as powerful as them. Perhaps he is one of the elite Awakeners of the Association, comparable to the heirs of those top families."

Victor lowered his hand as the blue flames on his palms faded. He looked at the undead being burned by the flames with a calm and indifferent expression.

"Heh, they are looking at you like you are their only hope. No wonder protagonists from novels always like to play the hero..." Amber said with a smile as she looked at Victor.

"Heh, I would prefer being a villain or an anti-hero any day. The lives of heroes are usually very cheap." Victor sneered as he rolled his eyes at Amber’s words. He looked down at the Awakeners who were gazing at him with awe, but he could sense jealousy from a few of them. He only cared about protecting his own people. Even the army and territory he strengthened were simply to ensure that no one would ever be able to bully him.

Boom!

Victor and Amber whipped their heads toward the source of the explosion, which was near the portal, and a small mushroom cloud formed.

"That presence inside the portal... a Tier 4?" Amber’s eyes narrowed as she sensed the extremely powerful presence inside the portal. She herself felt a mortal threat, but there was a strange feeling nagging at her.

’Why does the aura inside the portal feel a little familiar?’

Amber’s brows furrowed as she stared at the portal. Seeing this, Victor raised an eyebrow and asked, "Something wrong?"

"No... I just felt a familiar presence." Amber shook her head as she replied, causing Victor to raise an eyebrow.

While Victor and Amber could sense the presence of the Tier 4 threat, the others were not as perceptive. They were completely frozen in terror after seeing the massive mushroom cloud.

"Quick, run away!" one of them shouted in fear. They did not care about the lives of the civilians anymore; the only thought left in their minds was to escape from this hellish place.

"Huh? Where did those seniors go?" one of the Awakeners looked up and noticed that Victor and Amber had disappeared.

---

Victor and Amber arrived deeper into the city and saw ordinary soldiers equipped with modern firearms engaged in battle with undead while trying to escort civilians out.

Ratatata!

The sound of bullets being fired from guns echoed through the streets as the soldiers continued attacking from behind barricades made from vehicles on the main road.

The undead advanced toward them, their steps crushing the ground and everything on it. They moved through the rain of bullets, and even when explosions launched by war tanks struck their shoulders and bellies, everything that emerged from the explosion’s smoke had completely untouched skin.

"Damn it, we need to get out of here!" shouted the commander, his gaze filled with terror as the undead drew closer and closer to them.

Now they had been marked.

"Retreat! Retreat!" he gave the order, making a hand gesture for everyone to abandon their posts. The machine guns began to fall silent, and the soldiers quickly started to retreat, rifles still in hand and firing as they fled—but that did not slow the undead even for a second.

Scree!

Suddenly, the sharp cry of a bird rang out as everyone looked above and saw two large birds made of blue and white flames charging into the battlefield.

The blue bird flew toward the undead pursuing them and unleashed wave after wave of blue flames, reducing the undead to cinders.

"Ice Age."

A cold feminine voice resounded across the battlefield as the temperature dropped, and thousands of undead were turned into black ice sculptures.

"What the hell is happening?" one of the soldiers muttered in disbelief, seeing the undead perish so easily.

Scree!

"Fuck!" the soldier cursed loudly when he saw the bird of white flames spew a wave of white flames toward them, and they watched in horror as the flames engulfed everyone.

"Huh? I am not burning?" The soldier opened his closed eyes when he felt no burning sensation. Instead, he felt a warm feeling spread throughout his body and then saw his wounds rapidly healing under the white flames.

"Hey, are you all alright?" The soldier looked at Victor and Amber, and his eyes lit up.

"Of course, Senior Awakeners, we are fine." The soldier stood up and saluted them.

Just as the soldier was about to order a retreat, they were interrupted by a loud roar.

ROOOAR!

Both Amber and Victor looked into the distance, and their eyes narrowed at what they saw.

"What is that hideous thing?"

Amber’s gaze landed on a massive figure that was nearly 50 meters tall in the far distance.

This undead was not only incredibly tall, but it was also extremely round, almost like a balloon. However, that was not the most appalling feature of this creature, as it possessed an unfathomably hideous face that would terrify anyone unfortunate enough to witness it. This undead looked more like a grotesque monster than anything else.

"What an ugly undead! Hurry up and kill it!" Amber exclaimed in disgust the moment she saw the creature.

"An Undead Abomination," Victor mumbled as he recognized the monster and used his pupil technique on it.

[Undead Abomination]

[Tier: 2]

[Level: 214]

[Description: An undead creature created by an Undead Ruler by mixing and combining other undead together. The undead possesses extremely thick skin and incredible durability, but the downside is that it is mindless and has a limited lifespan of only a few hours.]

"Let’s go," Victor said as Amber nodded.

"I will use the clone technique. You go and join the others to clear the remaining undead," Victor said as he mumbled, "Elemental Clones."

Whoosh!

As soon as his words left his mouth, blue and white flames erupted from his body and formed an identical clone of him.

"Wow, this skill sure is useful," Amber said while looking at Victor’s clone.

"This clone has no self-awareness and can only use my flame bloodline abilities. It will obey your commands as I instructed it," Victor explained.

’Woah, I can command Master.’ Amber felt gleeful inside. She was always the dominated one, and even though it was just his clone, the thought of commanding it excited her.

Victor rolled his eyes and...

Smack!

"Hng." Amber moaned as Victor spanked her buttocks.

"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking. Behave," Victor glared at her, causing her to pout.

"Fine," Amber said, then nodded at his clone and said, "Follow me."

The clone expressionlessly followed Amber as they moved toward the battlefield.

Rumble!

Victor turned into lightning and moved closer to the undead.

An Abomination was walking down the empty street while searching for Awakeners who were not occupied with other Abominations when it suddenly stopped and looked up, seeing someone flying in the air and staring at it with a sword in his hand.

Victor remained hovering in the air, staring at it. The giant began staring back, a defiant glow appearing in its eyes. It stepped forward and suddenly roared like a titan, drawing the attention of the entire city with its echo.

Victor remained calm and pointed his sword at the undead as black lightning began crackling around the sword, with blue flames infused along the blade.

"Moonlight Slash."

Victor spoke, and the next moment, a sword light left his blade.

"Damn, what are these monsters? None of my attacks are working!" Andre growled in frustration.

"What the?" Olivia’s expression changed into one of disbelief at the next scene.

"This..." Andre and Rachel, who also saw it, were stunned. An Abomination was flung into the air, and they watched in shock as buildings were demolished by the giant’s flying body.

"Am I dreaming...?" Rachel murmured, almost like a whisper.

Suddenly, the sky above the city began to change. Black clouds quickly formed, and black lightning started crackling across the sky.

There was no fear or concern. The injured undead leaped out of the rubble and roared at the sky, sensing the threat.

"This..." Andre’s eyes contracted as he recognized the lightning.

"So he came," Rachel murmured in a dazed voice.

"Faceless," Olivia said with a glint in her eyes.
