Chapter 150: Ch-150: Hiring Assassins
The doctor administered a healing potion while he was still asleep, pouring some onto his body first and then feeding him the rest.
Kevin began to blink his eyes but did not open them as he moaned softly.
"Kevin... can you tell me who did this to you?" Kevin’s father asked directly.
Kevin’s lips trembled before he began to speak, his voice weak and shaky.
"Vic-Victor..."
He murmured in a whisper before falling unconscious again.
"Victor? Who the hell is that?"
Kevin’s mother asked with fury in her voice.
Everyone frowned upon hearing the name, and then suddenly a guard chimed in.
"I actually know him."
Everyone’s eyes snapped toward the guard, who started sweating under the others’ gazes and continued,
"Well, Victor was Master Ethan’s and Kevin’s classmate in high school... the one they used to bully."
As his words fell, everyone’s faces twitched and turned stiff.
Kevin’s father rubbed his temples.
’These two troublemakers... finally got hit by karma.’
"I don’t care. He should be grateful that my son even bothered talking to him."
Ethan’s mother hissed in anger, while everyone looked at her strangely.
"Sir, we have obtained the footage of the fight."
Just as Ethan’s father was about to interject, a guard rushed inside.
"Let’s go and see the footage."
Kevin’s father said, and everyone nodded before heading to a different room.
A Few Minutes Later
"Those two..."
Kevin’s mother clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms and bit her lip as she watched how brutally Ethan and Kevin had been pummeled by Amber and Victor.
Many of the men winced when they saw how Amber destroyed Ethan’s balls.
Kevin’s and Ethan’s fathers looked coldly at Amber and Victor.
"Brother, I want them dead... no, I want the woman to become my son’s slave."
Ethan’s father gritted his teeth and spoke in a vicious tone.
"Calm down. Do you think I am not angry?"
Kevin’s father said in a chilling voice and continued,
"We can’t use our family forces to deal with them. They are too strong."
"Then are you just going to let them off?"
Kevin’s mother looked at her husband with bloodshot eyes and asked.
"I never said that."
He took a deep breath and turned to the butler.
"Have you done a background check on him? Does he have any force backing him?"
"Yes, I have. First of all, he was a lowly destitute orphan, but yesterday he sold the armor that the family bought at the auction and became a billionaire."
The butler said, and everyone looked at him in surprise.
"What?! He sold it?"
Ethan’s father asked despite his anger.
"Yes. Not only that, but the most troublesome thing is that he has successfully joined the World Awakeners Academy."
The butler said, and everyone’s expressions turned grim.
"Damn, does that mean we can’t touch him?"
Ethan’s mother bit her lip as she spoke unwillingly.
She knew that joining the academy meant absolute protection for a student until graduation, and even the top families would not dare break that rule.
"Not really. It is stated that the protection will only be valid after they become official students, and we still have time... we can hire outside forces and have him killed before he joins the Academy."
Kevin’s father said with a malicious smile on his face.
"Which underground force should we hire?"
Ethan’s father asked with an excited and vengeful look on his face.
"How about the Shadowless Guild?" Ethan’s father suggested.
"Shadowless Guild? Didn’t their reputation take a hit? They are barely surviving and hardly getting any contracts. I heard their leader, Darius, is very desperate."
Kevin’s father said with disdain.
"That’s exactly why we should hire them. They are desperate, so we can hire them for cheap, and they will give one hundred percent to complete the mission."
Ethan’s father said with a smile.
"True... you contact them."
Kevin’s father said as he instructed his brother.
---
After leaving the room, Ethan’s father brought out a communicator and started typing the symbols required before sending a message to one of the most notorious assassin groups—the Shadowless Assassins.
The Shadowless Assassins were a small group of professional killers who would assassinate pretty much anybody as long as they were paid enough for the job, and they had even dared to target people from the United Nations.
The Shadowless Assassins also had no permanent hideout, and they constantly wandered from country to country, never staying in one place for longer than a few days, which was why they were so difficult to track down and deal with.
However, they did have several methods of contact, and one of them was through a special communicator that only a select few people possessed.
Currently, the leader, Darius, was in an extremely foul mood, as they had not received a contract for a long time while other assassin groups were rising at an alarming pace.
"Damn, Matthew... damn that NPC... if I ever get the chance one day..."
Darius said through gritted teeth.
More than the NPC, he held resentment toward Matthew for dumping such a difficult job onto his shoulders.
Of course, he never did anything to Matthew, as he was a client who had paid their fees, and it was ultimately his own fault for being weak.
"Boss! Boss!"
A lackey with a flushed face ran toward Darius, causing him to raise an eyebrow.
"What happened?"
Darius asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Someone contacted us. Looks like we’re getting a contract."
Hearing the lackey’s words, Darius’s face brightened immediately.
"Who are the targets?"
Darius asked with raised eyebrows.
"It seems they are two Warlocks who just joined the Academy."
The lackey said as he showed him a video of Amber and Victor.
"They are strong. We need to bring an army."
Darius was not confident he could handle them alone and said,
"Charge them $500 million."
The lackey relayed the offer and spoke with the person on the other end before walking back with a grim expression.
"Boss, they said they will only offer $200 million."
Darius’s eyebrows twitched, and veins bulged on his forehead.
He took a deep breath to calm himself.
’This bastard... he dares to negotiate with me.’
Previously, due to their reputation and the fear they inspired, no one dared negotiate with them.
But now, even some up-and-coming billionaire dared to bargain with him.
"Accept."
Darius said in a cold tone.
