Chapter 69: Chapter 69: A Bad Brain Needs to Be Fixed
Everyone in the private room turned to look.
The restaurant manager took one look at Jim Jenson’s clothes and was mostly relieved. The man was decked out in designer brands; someone that rich wouldn’t bat an eye at the cost of a single meal.
He hurried over to Jim Jenson and asked him to swipe his card.
Jane Lancaster announced, "Come on, everyone, let’s thank Young Master Jenson for the treat!"
’Is this some new kind of credit card ceremony? Just like getting a bottle service presentation for expensive liquor at a club.’
Although everyone was inwardly grumbling about how eccentric rich people were, they still played along.
"Thank you for the treat, Young Master Jenson!"
"Young Master Jenson is so generous!"
"Wishing Young Master Jenson and Miss Summers a lifetime of happiness together!"
Jim Jenson’s face turned livid with anger.
’He shot a vicious glare at Manager Raymond. ’This guy just doesn’t get it, does he? I was just talking big because of the booze. If he really wanted to partner with me, he should have quietly paid the bill himself.’
’Then he could have said I was the one who paid, giving me all the credit. That way, I’d owe him a favor and give him a shot at the partnership.’
’But now I’m stuck paying. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. Who the hell are these people to deserve a treat from me?’
He felt like he had been set up by Manager Raymond and Jane Lancaster.
Seeing the manager charge the full price, Willow Summers said nothing about the discount coupon.
With a dark expression, Pauline Shaw felt like she had been slapped in the face as well.
Only the manager was delighted. ’Rich people really are suckers.’
After a long moment, Jim Jenson finally said, "I’m just spending a fortune to see a goddess smile today. If you’re going to thank someone, you should thank Willow. It’s for her sake that I’m treating all of you."
As he spoke, he picked up the carafe. "There’s still so much wine left in here. Willow, let’s have a drink."
’He’d been trying to sweet-talk her for days and was running out of patience. The money he’d spent today had to yield some kind of return.’
"What’s the fun in just having one drink? If you’re going to drink, you should do a linked-arms toast!" Manager Raymond suggested with a smile.
The people around them started cheering them on.
"Yes, yes, a linked-arms toast!"
"Linked-arms toast! Linked-arms toast!"
’Manager Raymond is so repulsive. Is Pauline Shaw blind? How can she not see it?’
Pauline Shaw pursed her lips. ’What’s so repulsive about a linked-arms toast? And how does she know Willow is unwilling?’
Jane Lancaster was rendered speechless. "Aren’t you all just peer pressuring her? Has she even agreed to this?"
The atmosphere in the room instantly grew cold, and everyone turned to look at Jane Lancaster.
"How do you know she doesn’t agree?" one of the female colleagues couldn’t help but snap. ’This woman is so irritating, ruining the mood over and over.’
’This was Manager Raymond’s idea. By speaking up like this, she’s humiliating Manager Raymond, isn’t she?’
’Oh, and she’s badly disrespecting Young Master Jenson, too.’
Jane Lancaster: "If she didn’t nod, it means she doesn’t agree. We’re all adults here. Surely we can figure that much out, right?"
Eager to make a good impression, the female colleague quickly retorted, "Miss Summers is just shy! After all, Young Master Jenson is handsome, rich, and so emotionally supportive. He’s the kind of good man you couldn’t find even if you searched with a lantern. Who wouldn’t be willing?"
Jane Lancaster: "It’s clear you’re dying to do this linked-arms toast. Why don’t you demonstrate for us first?"
Jim Jenson’s face darkened. ’Even when I fool around with women, I only pick the pretty ones. I wouldn’t touch this one even if she was offered to me on a silver platter.’
After a moment of silence, Willow Summers took the initiative, raising her glass. "Young Master Jenson, allow me to toast you instead. I’ll drink it all; you can drink as much as you’d like."
She then downed the entire glass of wine, stood up, and said, "Excuse me, I’m just going to the restroom."
Her actions made it clear: she was unwilling.
Pauline Shaw recalled having the exact same thought as her colleague just moments before. It felt like a slap in the face, and her cheeks burned with shame.
With the leading lady off the stage, the linked-arms toast was naturally off the table.
Jim Jenson stared at Jane Lancaster with a sullen expression. ’I knew it,’ he thought. ’Willow Summers wouldn’t have the guts to refuse me on her own. It turns out she was the one pulling the strings.’
’Fine. Just fine. I haven’t even gotten my revenge on her yet, and here she is, starting trouble with me.’
’No way. I can’t let this go. I have to find a chance to get some serious revenge.’
Seeing Jane Lancaster get up and leave, he threw down his chopsticks. "This is boring. I’m going to the restroom."
He saw Jane Lancaster walking ahead of him, quickened his pace, and then deliberately slammed into her.
Jane Lancaster sensed something was wrong and tried to dodge, but she was still slammed against the wall. It took her a moment to recover.
Jim Jenson’s eyes were filled with smug satisfaction. "Oh, whoops," he said with a smirk. "Sorry, I didn’t see you there. But you’re fine, right? It’s not like it was a big deal."
He was sure Jane Lancaster was helpless, so he dropped the act. "Well, who told you to block the path? If anyone’s unlucky, it’s me. I’m just trying to walk here, and now I’m getting scammed."
Jane Lancaster glared at him. "So, does a bad brain affect your eyesight, too? I don’t mind fixing it for you."
"Who the fuck are you calling an idiot?" Jim Jenson’s face fell.
He sneered. ’There’s no one around anyway. I can do whatever I want.’
’This woman’s as skinny as a stick. Dealing with her will be ridiculously easy.’
"Alright, fine, I admit it was my fault. How about I give you a hand?" He reached out menacingly, but suddenly felt his collar get yanked.
The next second, a fist slammed into his stomach. The blow was so heavy that he started to retch, doubling over and sinking to the ground.
"Bastard, are you fucking looking to die?" Jim Jenson was furious. He looked up at the newcomer and froze. "Jasper Sterling, is that you?"
Even after throwing a punch, Jasper Sterling remained perfectly composed, so refined that not a single strand of hair was out of place.
Uncle Lynn, who had caught up, couldn’t help but marvel. ’Even when he gets into a fight, my young master never forgets to maintain his refined image, just like a peacock displaying its feathers.’
Jasper Sterling walked straight over to Jane Lancaster, gently extending a hand. "Jane, are you all right?"
Jane Lancaster shook her head, then bent down to pick up her two shoes that had come off and fallen on the floor.
In an instant, Jasper Sterling realized what she was about to do.
He spun around and, without warning, stuck out a foot, tripping Jim Jenson, who had just gotten back up.
Jane Lancaster walked over, shoes in hand, and began slapping Jim Jenson across the face with them, alternating left and right.
"A bad brain needs to be treated. Otherwise, it won’t just affect your eyesight, it’ll affect your motor skills, too. See? Not only did you bump into someone, you couldn’t even stand properly and fell over," Jane Lancaster said calmly as she continued to slap him.
Her movements were fast and vicious, and her talking didn’t slow her hands at all. Jim Jenson tried to fight back several times, but was always slapped back down. In the end, all he could do was cover his head.
’Holy shit,’ he thought. ’This woman doesn’t even seem to pause for breath while hitting someone. She’s so savage! Is she even a woman?’
His head and face throbbing with pain, Jim Jenson retorted angrily, "You’re lying! It was obviously Jasper Sterling who tripped me—"
Jane Lancaster slapped him right on the mouth.
"Oh, so it affects your cognitive abilities, too," she stated calmly.
Jim Jenson finally broke and started screaming. "Stop! I’m begging you, please stop!"
’It hurt so much! He was seeing stars, his ears were ringing, his face was on fire, and his lips were split and swollen.’
Uncle Lynn watched, gobsmacked. This Miss Lancaster was truly something else.
’But he seemed to remember Miss Lancaster being the very model of a high-society belle—famous for being dignified, poised, and cultured...’
Sensing his young master’s gaze land on him, he jolted and quickly shot a thumbs-up. "Miss Lancaster is so badass."
’So it’s not that Young Master has a thing for another man’s fiancée, but that he’s into this demoness type? In that case, Young Master is pretty badass himself!’
